      The earliest TV footage of them is from around 1960.
      They were embraced by the Australian entertainment and music industry who could see their talent. However, they weren't embraced so much by the record buying teenagers, until a few years later in 1966 when they started putting out some decent songs andrecordings.Record producer Nat Kipner was a big influence. Barry was writing lots of songs for other artists with some success, They perservered and went back to England where another Australian, Robert Stigwood gave them their big break with a recording contract soon after after arriving. The rest is history.

When they went on to disco I just accepted them as "oh yeah - that's the Bee Gees" without realising what a great leap they had made from Australia, covering other peoples' songs, to England and then to the USA doing their own songs.

      No. We know they became stars, but there's nothing in this lame rendition of a song by a band (The Beatles) who, in turn, had still not made it really big, that allows anyone to say "aha! The world saw it coming!" Both The Beatles and The Bee Gees might have fizzled out into oblivion in early 1964.

    • @TheLarryBrown
      @TheLarryBrown 3 года назад +2

      @@javiergilvidal1558 Your comment make no sense at all, and I don't know why you want to muddy the discussion by bringing The Beatles into it. Sure, they might have fizzled, but they didn't. On the contrary, they were stars already (ahem, like, they're performing on a TV show?), and this performance is just one sound byte of years of successful "child star" career, followed by three more superstar careers including a world shattering stint on top of the world as the kings of disco. They didn't fizzle and they went on to stellar, sustained success, followed by superstardom on an astounding level. So, by definition, they were indeed destined for stardom at this point. You should find a different hobby, other than commenting on youtube videos because you can't keep up.

      It’s cliche, but also untrue. I get what you’re saying....I’m a huge fan of 60s and 70s music in particular....but it’s just not true there is less talent now. @Richard Hewet comment is on point. People that say this are just commenting on the style of music they hear now not being to their taste. Nothing wrong with that, just don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s due to a lack of talent. Also, you’re not hearing all the crap that came out of past eras, that has been filtered out for you. I love the sentiment though.....good stuff here.

Market forces have put paid to hearing family groups like the early Bee Gees. I've been amazed at the vocal talent of some of the youngsters on programmes like 'The voice' etc but we rarely hear much of those after the tv series finishes.
