As a woman who has been a mouthy feminist on the internet since the 90s, I just feel hard for Mitski. Solidarity, girl.
Just got to the Tori clip, speaking of women getting more than their share of B.S.....
That ad transition was psychotic but cherry punk is an amazing fragrance.
in middle school we used to ask each other “what’s better,to be loved by others or to love other?”
back then we didn’t understand the meaning of love, as popularity and fame were the ultimative goal.
when we grew a little older, we found ourselves in situations, where we were loved but felt empty, as we did not love them back. happiness was nowhere to be found, but in the eyes and hearts of those who loved. it was them who practiced and enjoyed the love. we began to understand that the inability to love made us lonely. currently i am learning how to love, how to enjoy every moment, even if they do not love as deep as i do. as long as i am not overstepping any boundaries, i enjoy the depths of my own love, the feelings and enjoyment. i practice love, and i become love. the joy and happiness are within me, and power me. i grieve for people who yet are lost and unable to feel their own love, but it does not stop me from loving.
I freaked out half way bc I realized I have the same haircut as Elliot... I'm a 37 year old woman lol
hair is just hair.
@@spameranne My tricophilia begs to differ.
you have a wolfcut?
I feel like I get what you were going for
That the alienation between each of us has grown so vast that even understanding and defining what we have lost is difficult
So difficult in fact that people are trying to define, quantify, and assign tangible value to things that cannot be defined, quantified, and don't have tangible value. They can and do miss the beauty in the intangible but strongest bonds between us
I'm glad you made the video
wow that's so beautifully said!
10:33 that reminds me of the song 'teardrop' by massive attack, sung by elizabeth fraser from cocteau twins, and if i'm not mistaken, the lyrics were inspired by elizabeth's feelings about maternity.
"love, love is a verb, love is a doing word, fearless on my breath
gentle impulsion shakes me, makes me lighter"
when i first heard 'my love mine all mine' i thought the message was really beautiful, to me it felt more like reminiscing the past, letting go of all past disappointment and failures to embrace the feeling of being present and able to have felt love for something, despite not actually having it in your hands.
the ending montage of arts with the moon are beautiful
Yeah I thought of Teardrop as soon as I saw love and verb next to each other too haha
this has the feel of a Sisyphus 55 video
i love the comparison of making art and loving as two sides of a coin and as manifestations of eachother. i create because i love. i love because i create. It feels so futile and asymptotic to be intentional and to love and create for spiritual growth. Yet it feels so imbued with meaning that it becomes overwhelming and disastrous. To feel all that and still risk it in an effort to find meaning is really what the human experience is all about
First of all, I really love your comment. It makes me think and I love that and agree with everything you've said. Speaking of making me think, when I read the word 'asymptotic' I had a hard time pronouncing at first and then got confused and wondered if you meant asymbiotic instead. Then I wondered if you really meant symbiotic, because I thought surely "creation as an act of love and vice versa" is a symbiotic relationship and not an asymbiotic one?
But now having read and reread your comment fully, I understand. That the relationship between creation and love in regards to art making can sometimes feel asymbiotic as far as being intentional with it, because "we live in a society" but that when you make meaningful art it can be overwhelmingly and risky but still worth it, because that's what makes us human.
Did I get that right?
I’m glad Mitski is getting the recognition she deserves!
bro got me weepin with these bars😭
A small video essay just about My Love Mine All Mine?!?!!!! Oh my goodness yippee, I absolutely adore this song and its meaning
Coming back to watch this later when I have some more time :]
I need to keep reminding myself that love is a verb. How can we get better if we don't try? This world is difficult and scary. I'm at a crucial point where I feel as though I am being forced to sell my soul in order to live, but I think I could navigate things with love.
Love in its present participle form, loving... I am loving, you are loving, she/he/it is loving, we are loving, they are loving... it is my favorite tense of action for this wonderful and strong verb. Let it flow, we are all trying, or so I think. A hug for you random loving person
@@diosamurcielaga9418 And a hug for you both!! If you are trying and truly believe you are trying your best. That's all we can ask for!! (つ≧▽≦)つ ♡
The scentbird CEO is literally insane. Like “We’re in the matrix and I can talk to the supreme being” insane.
Music for an alienated introvert....
Death Grips?
so many artists have claimed that their music is for those who feels out of place in this world but i feel like death grips is one of the few who actually sounds like something for the alienated
also i haven't even watched the video yet i have no idea what it's about i just want to talk about my favorite boyband
Cruelty Squad ost?
At no point did I know where this was going, but I really enjoyed the ride ✨
Art to me is mostly (but not limited to) how we humans deal with the inevitable dread of existing and how we commiserate with each other forming bonds and good moments. That is why art has so much revolutionary potential and that is why we must fight commodification.
What I get from the line "my love is mine, all mine" is the experience of loving someone even when it makes no sense on the outside. Loving someone even when they've hurt you, even when you can't always trust them. But you just keep choosing to love them anyway. Why? I don't think anyone knows.
Love really can be eternal. When you put your love out into the world it touches and affects others who may well put their love out into the world affecting others and so on. Enjoyed the video. Thanks
Love is the transcendental experience of being part of something you percieve as truly meaningful that is greater than your self.
But yeah, I do kinda like this one. Very stream of consciousness.
This album (and this video) came exactly when I needed it. I’m in tears.
dude that ad transition was sick and vicious
Comment boost cuz it seems yt started smearing ur work cuz of u dared displaying dignity and humanity.
Free 🍉🍉🍉
I was waiting for your own cover at the end!
FL Studio has not used AI for a "long time" like you said, not sure where you're getting that from. As of October 2023, we can use AI in our mastering tools, but considering this is a DAW that's been around for 20+ years and generative AI has been around for 5ish years, this is hardly a long time relatively. Before then, we've had the arpeggiator for years, but that's not AI, that's a set of patterns that can be algorithmically applied to existing notes.
You say love vs hate. I say creativity vs destructivity. I think we teach our young to turn off their empathy so they can be suitable cogs in the machine we call America.
I've been playing and making music my whole life in many genres, with many instruments, and with many different people. I was curious about the AI thing and watched someone walk through the process of making something "passably" good and was just🤦♂️ it's exactly the process of making a song only instead of learning how to do it and making it something YOU do, you're spending that time trying to coax A MACHINE into doing the best part- the creating! I love technology, but from the perspective of the artist, the art isn't the point, it's the process, the flow, and the act creating that is the reason why in the first place
I recently read belle hooks book on love....i won't lie i didnt love it. But i did like the defining love and expressing it as an adjetive.
Can you recommend books like that but better?
@planetlovergirl4041 unfortunately I can not, I'm just getting into reading like this the last year or so. I just read it and had my complaints. I was a bit disappointed after all the hype I heard about it and Belle Hooks. Although you can read it and leave with something, and that is a good thing. But there are things that are not the best takes plenty in it. I also found it a bit hard to read the more I read it.
ayo finally someone said it
i’m crying over here. thank you 💓
Thank you for giving us your insight showing us your love. Without it, I would’ve never listened to a song like this and thought about it this way. You make me want to change the way I experience the world ❤
thanks elliot! i like when you do song analysis this was cool 😎
Great video!
Love this
The song reminds me of a weird French one I read for an English class called the carcass
Spitting straight bars at 7:30
Solid ad transition!
Third time watcher. (this is my comfort video now)
Misseddd youuuuu
*Beautiful Chorus’s Infinite Universe on repeat*
YES!
As soon as I heard the first notes I said Yes! I love this song, it doesn’t even feel like a tik tok song.
I LOVE MITSKI BECAUSE MY BEST FRIEND LOVES MITSKI
Was this a RUclips video or a piece of poetry? Who's to say
this video is amazing :) love the ad break, too!
btw, the choice of artists and performances shown in this video (particularly from 3:53 - 4:22 ) was pretty deliberate on my part. If you haven't learned about Nick Drake, I suggest you do!
What's the clip at 10:50 with the lady on the boat? Striking imagery
That's the music video for Mitski's "Star"!
sick shirt dude
Oh no did I miss a post about you deleting twitter or something?? I just made one and your link says the account doesn't exist
I don't know love
Man nothing like an ad read in an emotional moment to cheapen your point immensely.
Seeing that horrid I-pad apple ad again gave me ptsd lmao
1:54 I want to watch this film
❤❤❤
I don't know why but this video made me tear up. This was beautiful. Thank you. I am facing a temporary but long separation from my fiance this fall. We will face many more, sporadically, into our late 20s. People say it's going to be hard, that it probably won't last, that we can't do it. Their presumptions are not entirely unfounded. Plenty of long-term, long-distance relationships have failed. But I still believe that my journey with him is going to be worth more than the heartache that will inevitably accompany it. My love is mine to give, mine to DO, to him and for him and for us.
SCENTBIRD
YALL TRIPPING
Who else started listening to Mitski through Adventure Time? I know I did!
Ow
Scentbird is a cult.
Really? Can you elaborate? I’m interested and I wanna know why
@@marreyes2987 I'll be honest with you. I've only heard about it via a comment or maybe a RUclips short in which someone said it was weird that the maker of the "Belief It Or Not" channel (I am 99% sure that's the channel they mentioned) is sponsored by Scentbird. I don't remember who made that comment or RUclips short, but I know it was someone I had at least a vague reason to trust on that claim.
I haven't looked into it myself, but there are videos about it that I've found by entering "scentbird cult" into the search bar here on RUclips.
@@marreyes2987 I don't know if you can see my replies, but probably not. I see to have been shadowbanned or have my comment deleted or something. I can still see it in my notification box, but it seems to be gone in some other way.
@@marreyes2987 My replies to you don't show up below the video.
Okay, something weird is going on with my replies to you. In case you see this one: Look the thing up yourself, you can find info on my claim right here on youtube.
dude, for the longest time i thought this song was sung by a guy! hahahah!
