Qor Watercolor and Qor Half pan Set Review and comparison.

- In this video i do a full review of the Qor watercolor tube paints and the Qor Half Pan Travel Set. I go through all of the features and benefits of these paints and share some completed sketches. Then I swatch all 24 colors in included in the Qor 24 5ml tube set of paints and compare them to the Qor half pan travel set. Lastly I compare the Qor watercolor paints to ever other brand of commercial watercolor paints I have tried.

I just found the mini set for $42 and two introductory sets for $28 (the primary and the earth set), purely by chance on a Danish art shop's website - I'm so excited to get them!! I'm especially in love with the mini, I'll be using that palette long after I've run out of the original paints it comes with 😁
I love the 24 Qor set - this plus a few Daniel Smiths (Perylene Maroon - Daniel Smith; Transparent Brown - Sennelier) and a few subtractions - I think they included Neutral Tint and White. I substituted Titanium Buff and Idanthrone Blue because I like these colors. This is now my "go to" WC set.
Oh those are some great changes. Indanthrone blue is one of my fave most useful colors. I used it a lot to get darker mixes than with ultramarine or phthalo blue. Or I use it instead of those colors too.

This is the most helpful video I've ever seen. You are really a good teacher, and Divine Mother gave you a lovely soothing voice. Sometimes I cant listen to tutorials because some people's voice is too high piched for me to tolerate. Thanks😘

Well filmed. You can really see how the paint spreads out wet in wet and how it behaves. I can confirm that they dry and rewet just fine. I have the jewel tone and the basic 12 color tube sets and have them in a Mijello 18 well palette. I personally thought Qor's dioxazine purple was a bit dull compared to Winsor & Newton's version. Qor does say theirs is more lightfast. Qor's ultramarine is indeed very nice and vibrant. For me M Graham still wins in terms of vibrancy. The wild way Qor paints sometimes flow can take a bit getting used to. I need to be a bit more careful about which areas are wet when I work with this paint. Also, good idea to include student grade paints in the comparison.
Thank you for your kind words. I do have a set of WN professional paints and I wasn’t really impressed so I didn’t use them very much. But I’ll take them out to play with them.
QoR's Diox purple is definitely a little less intense than some competitors, but it's a worthwhile tradeoff for the superior lightfastness IMO.
Right as the pandemic hit I had ordered the senniler WC set it was around 80ish $ my husband had opened pkg he couldnt remb if there was anything In the box from amazon or if he threw it out by accident..🥴.I think I cried for a month as I was on a really strict budget it took me over tge next 8 months to get more watercolor paint and I just started ordering from daniel smith tubes and intro set, I had coupons from micheals until thenI had to use my grandma wc prang set that was 5.00 from over twenty yrs ago...everytime I hear senniler name I get teary...lol. I would use the middle to add more pans of WC then use a clip with magnet to add another mixing spot on the side..... mikelle newyork mom 👩🎨🎨

I prefer to buy the tubes and make my own half pans. The exception was the A. Gallo watercolors. Nice review!
So true! Though some paints like sennelier I end up getting some colors in half pan because they take so long to dry.
that viridian green looks like a true viridian PG18, and not a phtalo green BS PG7, which is quite often named "viridian", like viridian hue. also true viridian is granulating and less staining.
It is a true PG18. And sennelier my second fav is PG18, and PG7 🤷🏾♀️😂😶😊
Why buy in a designed set… I purchased the 24 set, then 15 different individual 11ml tubes… too much duplication in their sets.
