That looks like unique pistol powder. I think i was able to get it up to 5.8 or 6.0gr before seeing pressure signs, but was also pushing well over 1,900ft/s.
The crimp and higher charge weight are good prospects. That box velocity is also hopeinspiring because it's close to where the 40gr vmax does best out of a pistol. It will be interesting to see what they pull off with their critical defense load. It wint be an armor puncher, but ut should get expansion even at low velocity.
I'm looking forward to this review in your PS90 SBR!!! What I'm most interested in seeing is is there any feeding issues with the magazine from the PS 90 and velocity compared to factory FN ammo
@@BuffRANGE thank you keep me posted. I'm looking forward to seeing the review with this ammo and a PS90 SBR. I'm a fellow form member on arfcom and fnforums I usually comment on your post regularly I'm a particular fan of the 5.7 round
Yep got mine on Thursday also euro optic has the critical defense up for pre-order on their site for only 25 a box. I guess they’re selling it for pre-order everywhere else I looked it’s like 35 or more.

I’m super excited to see new 5.7 rounds come to the market. If I’m being honest tho, I don’t want hollow points. I want more like t6b or black dragon fang
Curious why no HP? Same thoughts on the critical Hornady ballistic tip? Those have shown good expansio/ retention I thought. Is it just for 5.7? Thanks
@@lordw9609 We need a bullet to reach vitals. The FBI testing and data have shown that 12" should be considered the min acceptable. With HP designs in 5.7, you play a fine line between getting acceptable penetration, and good terminal affect out of the bullet. We had something good with the original design Gold Dot, at least in clear gel. If the bullet doensn't have considerable expansion, that wounding mechanism is kind of then lost. So with 5.7 we're left in weird area between rifle wounding ability and pistol wounding. We can't have this explosion fragmentation in 5.7 because that then limits our penetration depth. I will say that if the 40gr Vmax was a bonded bullet and velocities were 1800+ in pistols, that would work well for an expanding load. We shall see how the critical defense load fairs. If they can get expansion like the original gold dot, and penetration to 12", and it feeds, it would be a viable choice.
@@lordw9609 "Original Gold Dots" If you bought those Gold Dot's recently (within the last 3 yrs) they are not the design I'm referring to, and actually perform poorly in the pistol. See this long form review here: ruclips.net/video/vA0AZS-x4C0/видео.html
Well I did run it this weekend and got the box stated velocity from the 4.7" pistol. Better than 197 by 170 fps.. But I know it will take a lot more to impress you. Also! YT doesn't like your comments and has been auto moderating them! Not me!
@@Enjoyer.762 I may have to disagree with your assessment that the tumbling rounds are only causing "ice pick" style wounding like 22, but I would agree there are some who take the performance of 5.7 to be a superior godsend, when it's (depending on load) on equal to slight ahead footing of pistol caliber JHP as far as wounding goes.
Bruh y’all gotta appreciate this dude he get thorough reviews out too we need this man shoots all 5.7x28mm
Can’t wait to see how it performs!
This dude is the most thorough and informative ammo tester on the interwebs.
ESPECIALLY on 5.7

Crimped! Finally a major manufacturer with some sense!
I’m gonna do a short segment later on it. Just showing my groups etc.

Has anyone tried an external hollowpoint style of bullet like a G9 or Lehigh in a 5.7x28? I think that could have some potential. 🤷♂️
I can say I did some R&D for a style like that and they were crazy unpredictable in gel.
Oh wow, good to know
Wonder if they meant to look like metallicas black album with the boxart lol
So true!
Can't be coincidence.
Yes?
