    204 Ruger with 40gr Vmax all day and night. Fairly certain Mr. Emery would agree, that cartridge along with 17 HMR really launched Hornady forward from manufacturing everyone else's designs into becoming the leaders in 21 century bullet and ammo design. Cant wait to build a 22 ARC, keep up the great work guys.

    220 Swift is still the King! I have shot this caliber for 45 years and have tried a lot of bullets in that time. My all time favorite is the Sierra 55 gr HPBT (#1390).
    That being said I also shoot the following depending on conditions:
    17 REM with the 25gr Hornady HP (luckily have more than enough of this bullet to last me a very long time since you guys quit making it)
    222 REM with the Barnes 36 gr VG. I really like your 50 gr SPSX but if you push them hard they will come apart on you.
    243 Win with the Barnes 80gr TTSX. This caliber I use for deer and antelope but it is hell in the totes as well.
    So, I shoot several depending on the hunting/calling situation but more often than not I am reaching for the Mighty Swift!

    Seth thanks for bringing your boys to our tournament. It was great to meet you.
    1. My go to predator/varmint round 22-250 50 or 55 grain vmax
    2. I do use .223 in multiple platforms
    3. My most accurate handload probably by accident in my sons rifle is .243 with 65 grain vmax over superformance powder. Happened upon it because when components were hard to come by it was what I had and it is awesome on dogs and yotes.
    4. Not my favorite but its nasty, I have used 110 vmax in .270 Winchester
    5. I also happened upon some 100 grain 7mm hornady hollow points which you no longer make. I jacked around and handloaded some in 7mm-08 and put 5 of 5 on steel 4×6 plate at 400 yards with a simple 9 power scope at our practice range just letting off stem after district wrestling.
    Thanks for the content, looking for a new rig can't decide between 22 or 6mm creed or ARC I keep going back and forth.

    • @ontarget765
      @ontarget765 4 месяца назад +3

      I'm down in Aus, and down here components are a pain. I recently built a 6x45 and brass (necking up 223) is cheap and easy. 6arc, 22creed, 6creed etc - either unavailable or over $2 a piece, sometimes well over. Sure, down here it's for foxes and wild dogs, not coyotes but similar pest size.

    • @chadperry4021
      @chadperry4021 4 месяца назад +2

      @@ontarget765 oh here in America there is a cartridge called the 6x47 lapua( I forgot it was 47 not 45) that is basically a 243 Winchester with a little less capacity. I thought you were talking about that. Anyhow in case there are none in Australia your not missing out by not having one. It was an option in competitive shooting until the creedmoors and the gt cartridges have pushed it further into obscurity. Several RUclipsr’s have tried it saying accuracy was not up to their standards and they moved on. Sorry for the confusion.

    .223 class is economical and it works. 220 Swift/22-250 class anchors them. 6ARC-6Creed-22ARC etc class brings new age ballistics that work reliably. But for an off the shelf, ammo everywhere, authoritative coyote anchor, the 243 is still the best option out there, and gets even better for handloaders. I wish I could put the 6Rem in there, but it missed it's mark on history and ammo variety/gun availability is limited anymore.

    Coyotee cartridge does not need to be modern or new or much of anything. It just needs to shoot faster and hit harder than a rim fire. So 243 and 6.5 Grendel are perfect for Coyotee. 109gr. Soft Point Winchester White/Silver Gray box in 243 is terrific! It is cheap, time tested to work on deer on down. The 6.5 Grendel anything from 95gr. to 129gr. all work great on deer on down. Nosler Partitions and Swift A Frames and Barnes solids are the way to go in the 6.5mm and you can go lighter and still have fantastic effect on game if you want more velocity. I can never find Hornady CX loaded ammo on the shelf in my life time and it is insanely expensive when I see it online. Cup and Core bullets are fine for coyotee's and deer but I dislike them for much else. Anyone that goes on about BC for a coyottee cartridge is not a proper hunter since BC is the least important bit of information one needs in selecting a proper hunting bullet for the task at hand. People that push BC above everything else usally have terrible hunting bullets and great target shooting bullets!

    Sadly no coyotes in Scotland, at least not 4 legged critters, but we do have foxes and they exhibit the same tactics as any predator, with either coming in favourably to the call or hanging way out yonder and that’s where my 22-284 with the 88ELD-x comes into its own, both in flat shooting and down range energy and more so with the thermal, as just hold on hair to 300yds, whereby, even with the rangefinder with ballistics, at up those ranges just not needed. I too have a 6mm Remington Ackley Improved custom built by Doug Shilen, giving very similar performance with an 85g SPS BT but loaded with 52-54grs RL22 or Norma MRP and now 53 N165 so was really puzzled to hear 42.5 of Varget with an 87 V Max ? which sounds much less than I would have loaded in a 243? depends what you already own and if coats are required to be respected. 222 or 22 250 was a king choice years ago and 243 if coat wasnt an issue. If you already have these why change unless you just want to experiment. ok that is more calibre than cartridge factors but relevant then choose the cartridge factors

    What is the cheapest round, 5.56 use to be 40 cents a round, 243 is like 1.20 around. So all the rounds you are talking about around 1.00 a round? I love the 17 Hmr, but I am moving to the 9mm out of a carbine, it cost less then the 17 Hmr. I like the sound of 22 ARC but what is the cost. I hate every time I pull the tiger I thro away a dollar. Any gun you use you must put a lot of rounds through it to know your gun.

    22 Creedmoor, 22 arc is just reinventing the wheel. Make more ammo available for guns that has been around. None of the new rounds can do anything the 204 ruger, 22-250, 17hmr, 17wsm, 243, 22 hornet, 17 hornet and 17 remington, 220 swift, 222 magnum, last but not least 223/5.56.
    Just give us ammo for what has been around. Maybe some 35 remington. That would be really nice

    54:46 and out of a bolt gun. Probably gonna lose 200 fps out of an AR-15 even with a 24 inch barrel
