You are so blessed to be able to travel and make these videos. I will never have the money to go and stay in these places so your videos is the closest I will ever come to travel. Thanks, this was fun.
like always, splendid video. Hard to think their remodel was just in 2016. With the Rosewood and the Park Hyatt serving major competition, its only a matter of time before this grand dame gets the facelift she really needs!
Beautifully photographed. Would love to have seen the breakfast they offer. Was there many years ago and had a banana split on the terrace. It was wonderful. A lady on our tour insisted I go. We were staying at the Dusit Thani. I should return and stay here. I love that teak water taxi. Retired now so certainly have the time.
Estuve el agrado de estar en septiembre del 2013 en ese gran y bello hotel, recuerdo que no se olvidarán, paisajes expectaculares una exelente atención un gran saludo a su personal desde chile ..
Ohh wow fit for a king, or Queen, and those cakes yum yum, i do love cakes not keen on swimming, but ive always kept myself fit, strong body, strong mind, and a strong spirit, i wish i owned a hotel like that, i do quite like cleaning as well, so if i did, you would see me still do some cleaning, i wouldnt be one of those bosses who was up his own backside, anyway better fly, isnt that virus just awful, my my, i look at it on. More postive note, perhaps after this has blown over, people will learn to be nicer to each other, etc etc etc, but who knows what the future may hold, as we only live in between the seconds,!
Indeed an iconic hotel with a lot of history, but at the same time the decors and facilities look dated. I guess their selling points are the quality of their guests, the ambience, the fine services, and attention to the details.
With over 140 years of history, to change to modern style would loose its character. Should they keep the same tables and bed that was used by those important and famous guests. Or should they erase their history ??? That is critical.
I stayed there once 20 years ago. It's really a business hotel, not a resort or vacation hotel. The lobby has a dress code - which I was always in violation of. Everyone knows your name all the time, which leads me to think that you're on camera the whole time. When you get off the elevator on your floor at 3 in the morning and the cleaning lady knows your name, you know something's up. It's not a very fun place; instead, it's a very businessy place.
If I were the management of the hotel. I will change the big building exterior to the style that goes well with the original building. I will keep the room in original style of decorations only those that are under the original building. For the big building, I will change the interior and furniture to be more up to date if needed. Then this hotel will not only be able to attract the guests that are looking for hotel history experience (original building), but also attract guests that are looking for modern style ( second building, big building). To keep exterior the same theme with the original building will embody the brand.
MO is so close to fully booked that their prices are seriously up and set to go up again soon as the high season gets nearer. You dont understand what MO is, its not a 5 star hotel, its something beyond that and its for people who dont ask the room rates. Its completely ok for these people to pay $9-10,000 for 3 days in a suite, those who look for high class within a budget would go to Waldorf Astoria, or Peninsula if they want the river. Above that theres only MO.
Is it the colors and/or camera angle. The room looks small and cluttered with too many furniture. I rather have a basket of fruits and a bottle of champagne.
Fantastic Channel. great videos. But, have you ever thought about a little commentry? It would be nice to see a bit of your personality coming through. 👍👌🍻
Well, I am considering to feature myself in my hotel & flight clips (since many people ask that) and give comments, but English is not my native language, and I am rather camera shy, so ...but I am still considering it though :)
+Kimmy Queen Because if the water is not treated---like most pool water in other than 3rd world countries---"Hep C & Other water born decease's" ie "Diptheria & Malaria" which have killed many children could be present in the water system of the Hotel---also "Legionaires Desease" which comes from untreated water towers---even in the USA--can be present
Probably none. Working girls must present their national identity cards to hotels upon arrival with guests. A hotel like this would not risk its reputation by having underage girls on the premises. Why don't you stop dwelling on negative stereotypes about Bangkok.
M Fitzburger - your comment about guests at this hotel can easily bring child prostitutes inside just tells us you are at best a budget traveler who has never set foot in a hotel like this and don't know how strict they are in enforcing guest policy. A guest who can afford to stay in a hotel like this would be smart enough not to embarrass himself (or herself) by bringing someone in who would look totally out of place in a hotel like this.
great video of bangkok Oriental. wonderful memories of my previous visits

Mandarin has always been at the top, or thereabouts, and this is one of the best.

What! Thats the most clueless comment ever. And even Park Hyatt, competitor to MO, wow what have we been smoking!
Amazing looking back across the river at 4:52 in 2016 without all the new development. Sad that it has become such an eyesore

We‘ve been there in 2017, it has the best stuff and service 😍 It is stunning!
But you missed the authors‘ lounge, it‘s the best thing about the hotel.
Looks great can't beat being by the river 👍
I think I know what one of my next destinations will be ... Thanks for a great report.
+Pit Spielmann You'll love the hotel. Thx for the kind comment.
more traditional if you like that, Siam is more new but up to you what you like , this is a 200 year old hotel

Estuve el agrado de estar en septiembre del 2013 en ese gran y bello hotel, recuerdo que no se olvidarán, paisajes expectaculares una exelente atención un gran saludo a su personal desde chile ..

Best hotel in the world for many years.

I stayed there in 1998.
wow. stunning
You didn’t get the cigar bar, please tell me it’s still there ?
Good hotel en de food yumi
Hello I'm from thailand
Gracias
All those luxury hotels look better in Asia than North America or Europe.
This maybe highly indiscreet and I am fine if you prefer not to say, but what kind of business are you in? Just wondering. Or is this your job?
+Kimmy Queen No, this is just my hobby. I like to share my travel experiences :)
ok ty. It is a very nicely produced channel.
Is it the colors and/or camera angle. The room looks small and cluttered with too many furniture. I rather have a basket of fruits and a bottle of champagne.
It is the camera angle. The hotel is spacious and comfortable. You really do not want to trade that for a basket of fruit!
Fantastic Channel. great videos. But, have you ever thought about a little commentry? It would be nice to see a bit of your personality coming through. 👍👌🍻

OMG stun so beautiful
Try staying at a hostel sometime.
😂😂😂
Those guys in the pool, typing on the computer.....I don't get it!!!!
very nice hotel! gotta stay there sometime ;) #BeautyLovesTech thanks!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's great! How long have you been making vids? Check out my videos.
hello I'm from Thailand
the price is nonsense ! old hotel with expensive . not worth our penny. id prefer the siam !!!!
Need to change the music. Sounds like you're advertising a funeral, not a hotel.
I would not trust swimming in that pool---if they fill it will local water----"Mucho Decease's" could be in it--
+Fox Mulder a lot of dead people?
+Kimmy Queen If they use "Local Water" too fill it---"Hep C" would be a major concern
why?
+Kimmy Queen Because if the water is not treated---like most pool water in other than 3rd world countries---"Hep C & Other water born decease's" ie "Diptheria & Malaria" which have killed many children could be present in the water system of the Hotel---also "Legionaires Desease" which comes from untreated water towers---even in the USA--can be present
it is diseases and thank you for the information. That is good to know.
Can't you just imagine how many child prostitutes set foot into that place?
Probably none. Working girls must present their national identity cards to hotels upon arrival with guests. A hotel like this would not risk its reputation by having underage girls on the premises. Why don't you stop dwelling on negative stereotypes about Bangkok.
M Fitzburger sure! You can’t afford this hotel or not even the trip to Bangkok, good to stay and barging in front of the computer 💻
