This has to be in the running for the most idiotic statements ever made by a U.S. president. GM lead in EVs in 1996 but not at any time in the past 20+ years.
The fact is that GM was successful in postponing the EV revolution by about ten years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent_encumbrance_of_large_automotive_NiMH_batteries
I hate how people ignore what he's saying so they can dunk on him out of context and continually bitch about him shunning Tesla for not being unionized. He is not saying that GM is leading in electric auto sales, is he? He IS saying that an announcement by GM to go all electric by 2035 helps lead the way to electrify the entire auto industry in America. That's exactly what he said, isn't it?
He means electrified in the sense of exciting/focusing the entire US industry. Elon is really nasty to Biden and not a team player, so I'm assuming the credit Tesla deserves isn't coming. But this speech was literally inside a GM facility so I think the compliment is probably fine. Tesla only really has 2 cars with different body style variations, all in the luxury market. GM makes mass market vehicles. Many millions a year. The ultium battery is significantly cheaper than the Tesla battery per kWh. That definitely deserves some plaudits.
@@bradshoe100 Funny you're responding to this right now. I'm on a GM Chevy lot right now pricing out both the bolt EV and EUV that are available to buy and sitting on the lot right now for under 30 grand. How long is the lead time for a 50 grand Tesla again?
Correct, the wait times for Tesla are extremely long despite price hikes and production ramping. That means they have insane demand. Brain damage much?
@@FloatingWeeds2But no one wants a crappy Gov Motors EV. They aren't even profitable on the EVs they sell I believe. How is that a good business model?
They just announced they're canceling they're ultium batteries and copying Tesla's 4680. They, and you, were dead wrong. They did not lead. They're following now. Checkmate.
GM delivered 26 EV's last quarter. All car deliveries down 43%
Tesla: 308,600 EV's last quarter, up 87%
Who's really leading Biden? If you're honest?

This will always remain a great meme video
Indeed 😂
What a wind bag. Does he actually believe what he spews?
He believes what he's told. His handlers are writing the scripts...
Yes... he believes his handlers
Hard to believe he's BY FAR the better candidate huh?
She led by saying that in 15 years her company is going to do what another car company has been doing for the last 15 years
What a joke 😂 #TSLA 🥇
You, sir, are correct!!
You led Mary straight down the cliff.
What an effin joke
And people wonder why Elon is with Trump now. It all started here.
It's usually said, that a great leader leads from the front. But Mary figured something much better out.
He lost my vote when he said this.
Lol so many comments have ratioed this video 😂
Corruption at its finest
Such an uninformed statement by someone that knows better.
He actually doesn’t. The UAW has corrupted him to no end.

Nope, he said "you electrifiED the entire industry"

You are wrong on literally every point you made. I went to the Los Angeles auto show the day after this speech GM had exactly zero EV’s
