  • Selecting an electric reel for deep drop fishing is a difficult job. They are expensive, and there are many choices. This is how I cut through all the noise and found what works for me.

When doing the research were you aware of the Banax Kaigen 1000? I decided to go with the Banax both the 1000 and 500. Not a lot of reviews online for the Banax but the ones I found were satisfactory for my needs. If I'm still above ground in a couple of years, I might do a review. Your review was good.

You made the right choice with the Shimano Beast Master 9000, I have the BM 9000 A from US Dealer it is a great reel.

We have been really happy with it. It has made our hunt for tilefish a lot more like fun and a lot less like work!

I really like your detailed videos. The way you take the time to explain not only the criteria for selecting which reels but also the comparison makes it very easy to follow along. Keep up the great work!

I went with the BM9000A too thanks. Did you ever make a vid on how you converted the battery gator clips to the 12v plug? my boat has 12v plug (kind of like cigarette lighter plugs). Thanks for the vid.

      DJ,
Using a cigarette lighter plug is not really viable. For one thing, they tend to easily pull out of the socket (always at the WORST possible time!), and they are also rated for only about 10 amps. You'll need more than that. There are a number of plugs that are sold for trolling motors that are well suited.
