Love your new toaster sweater! Sending love and positivity for your health issues. For our own sanity, I think we all take good health for granted, but life sometimes has other plans. Hoping that you're in a much better place soon, and that you've been able to find time to sew and lol after your mental health, too. x
Love your toaster sweater! Bulky seams are always a challenge. When I sew neckbands or cuffs I typically use a straight seam on my sewing machine for the interior seams for less bulk. Then my serger for attaching them. I love a nice waffle knit so comfy! Maybe the LaBella Donna by Love Notions?
The toaster sweater looks beautiful! I love the fabric you used and it’s a great fit. I’m glad they didn’t find anything major at the doctors and I totally understand the anxiety that goes along with it. Sewing has always been there for me to help get through any trying times. It’s a great distraction and a productive hobby. I try to always have at least one or two projects going to stay busy . Haha I like to do the same thing with shipping lol. Perfect reason to add more fabric. I like the three fabrics you ordered. The first one would look cute in a cardigan. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad your health issues are not significant - I hope you have found a treatment that allows you to begin to heal from whatever it is. 🧵 I totally agree that sewing is a mental health treatment!! 🧵Your Toaster sweater came out great! I love the fabric you used. 🧵
Thanks so much, Michelle! I’m going to be doing physical therapy and some medication and I should be good to go! Some spine and back stuff, no fun, but so glad it’s nothing worse! 😊
Your Toaster sweater is really cute; love that quilted knit! I love Girl Charlee too and right now they have so much on SALE!!! I don't need any more fabric either, but it's hard to pass up a good bargain! Multiple doctor visits make me irritable, especially if you're trying to get answers about something... Glad you're OK! Keep on Sewing!😍
Thank you so much! Girl Charlee is so great-the prices are amazing! I can't pass up a bargain either. Already prepping myself for the holiday sales by trying to tell myself I don't need any more fabric!! Happy sewing!
Love the top. It looks soooooo comfy. I finished a pair of slacks while watching. Hope you solve the health issue real soon. Take care of yourself. God Bless.
Great job on the sweater you wore. I like the extra touch of the double layer of material around the bottom hem and the end of the sleeves. Sounds like you're going to be very busy with sewing projects in the near future. Take care!!
The double layer was a great choice by the patternmaker! It makes it so you don't have to hem anything! So easy and a nice, clean finish! I am really happy with the pattern! Thanks for watching, Deb! 😊
The toaster2 has that funnel neck, and if I remember correctly, the back and front pieces are the same, or nearly so. I love my toaster2, except I do topstitch around the bottom of the facing. Since my neck sits more squarely on top of my shoulders and is long, I've always liked funnel and bateau necklines. I would guess that using a fabric that's more drapey would help you, so the neck will fall away instead of standing up. The pattern gives a help for lowering the front a little without changing the shape of the pattern piece. 😊 BTW, I would be suspicious of anyone that has a really neat desk! 😉😄 Wonderful video, and I loved the outtake reel!!
Thanks, Lynn! So glad you enjoyed it! 😂 Thanks for the tips on the Toaster sweater. I definitely want to make another one, so I will think about your comment when I do!!
Hy your toaster looks great 👍when Andrea from Beyond the pink Door did a sewalong she turned one seam one way and one seam the other way where they met on the coff and bottom band 👍
I love your toaster sweater! The fit is perfect and the fabric is a lovely match for the pattern. I think I’m going to put that one on my New Year’s list. I’m working on quilted Christmas table runners as gifts for my besties. (It seemed like a great idea in October!) Hopefully I will maintain my momentum so they can be gifted this year!!
Definitely add it to you list! Highly recommend! Quilted table runners! That's a great gift! Do you just quilt long rectangles or is there a pattern? I laughed when you said it sounded like a great idea in October 😂 I can really relate to that feeling!
@@WanderingBobbin I use jelly rolls to make log cabin squares in Christmas fabrics. Check out Jordan Fabrics on RUclips for great tutorials. They have a brick & mortar store in Grants Pass, Oregon with fantastic fabrics and kits- check it out!
Top looks cozy. I like Sew House Seven patterns. I’ve made a few; not easy to find in my area. I hate ordering everything, but appears to be my choice, so may as well learn to deal with issues there. Point being: I decided to treat myself to a dress form. I finally ordered one and everything appeared to be going okay. I kept expecting it to show up, then that last day, notified it would be delayed but no designated day. I am now taking my tracking number and copy and pasting into FedEx. What once was shipped is now saying it was not! I’m so disappointed! Looks like I may have to cancel the order and start looking again! Grrrr!
I had so much trouble with Fedex recently. The yarn I showed in the video took an entire month to be delivered! I thought it was lost at some point because the tracking stopped moving (near my city too!) and I called and I got the run around! It finally showed up after about a month! 🙄 So frustrating. Good luck with you dress form, I hope it shows up soon and you don't have to cancel!
@@WanderingBobbin I might call my local FedEx and see what they see on the tracking number. I’m calling the place I ordered from back on Monday. They were nice, but did say I should have received it already. I guess this is what USPS meant by slowing down certain things!
@@bluegrassdreams2seams510 Good luck! I suppose so... the shipping times will be this holiday season are probably going to be even slower! Yikes!! Going to have to do my Xmas shopping early this year!
Your top is super cute and I love your fabrics from Girl Charley. I've glanced at their website and they seem to have some very good prices and I may order some french terry since I haven't been able to find any at my local JoAnn's. Love the dress pattern too.
Thank you, Connie! The prices are so good! I liked the french terry I got from them. I also liked some french terry from So Sew English too, another great site!
Thank you for sharing. Lately, for some unforeseen reason I have been going through what you’re mentioning and have been shy about discussing it. I have NEVER felt this way before yet I have come back to sewing for some type relief. I hope things work well keep pressing through all is and will be well.
It can be hard to talk about for sure! Especially if you aren't sure why. I can relate to that so much. I am glad that you found some solace in sewing. It can be really grounding. I love that it challenges so many parts of you brain and it is rewarding in the end! Hope you feel better soon and happy sewing!
Glad I am not the only one who thought that. I still haven't decided what to do with it. Maybe a basic long sleeve top? Let me know what you decide to do with yours!
I've kind of learned the same thing over the past couple of weeks. I had some anxiety take over my body (something unusual for me) before I realized what was happening, so I spent several days doing nothing else but planning my cold weather wardrobe, putting PDFs together, and cutting out pattern pieces, all of which are calming activities that I enjoy doing (I know, weird, lol), but it really helped and I am back to my usual happy go lucky self again. It made a big difference. I have some ivory cable knit ponte fabric earmarked to be a toaster sweater, the same version as yours. I'm hoping to be able to wear it with some of my skirts, so I probably want it to fall an inch shorter than yours does. How tall are you? I'm 5'9.5" tall but am quite short waisted for my height. I seldom have to lengthen the torso on anything. All my height is in my legs. I am just trying to figure out if I should shorten it a tiny bit. Also I am glad you pointed out the wavy seamline. I feel sure that will happen to me too, so I will practice first.
I'm glad you were able to get out the anxiety state and you feel better now! I am 5'8.5", so an inch shorter than you. I'm not sure about my torso actually, I am short waisted, but I am long between my shoulder and bust apex, so maybe it balances out with my legs 🤷♀️ I found this post about the wavy seamline after I had sewn it that I thought seemed informative www.allieolson.com/blogs/blog/four-tips-for-serging-bulky-knit-fabrics If you fabric can tolerate the heat without melting, definitely try using a clapper to get the seams to lay flatter! Let me know how it goes!
