I love the: Gathered Twigs distress oxide, my favourite. I'm into the ancient look! I love writing letters with it. I was scared to do it in my note-taking Bible. But, your video on (scrapbook.com channel); gave me confidence. I want my Bible to have an ancient look! I also want to do it all with pink, in another Bible! Thanks for the great tips. Blessings.
Love your videos! I have to mention that I have used Distress Ink in my Bible since Bible Journaling first “began” (as a “thing”). I always prep my pages (and honestly don’t understand the sometimes-seeming desperation NOT to have to prep...I love the prep step, it feels good to prepare a page). I will make two points from my personal experience: I get VERY intense colors from DI’s, on top of clear gesso, and they do not fade or lessen in intensity with time, nor do they rub off. I don’t know what I might be doing differently. I think I do leave the page open until the next day, maybe. (2) In recent weeks, I have found that DI’s do better on top of the Dina Wakley brand of clear gesso (for everything else I have always used Art Basics Clear Gesso).
I just got added some oxides to my regular distress inks and love them! They're so much fun to play with and experiment using in different ways. Haven't used then in my Bible yet, so thank you for all the tips!

And I can't wait for the full palette to be available in oxide (I'm waiting out and hoping that the chemists will be able to get them in the mini size one of these days)! How do you make your splatters? What do you think works best - a toothbrush, a paint brush, a TH splatter brush? I saw a stamp on BTW4G, Linsey splatter stamp. Is that yours? I usually wind up with a mess!
That is my stamp at ByTheWell! I created it using a paintbrush and ink. I prefer a paintbrush for splatters. I like the TH splatter brush but it makes a giant mess.

I really appreciated your video... The price of 4 mini ink pads is more expensive than just one standard distress ink pad. Am I correct in thinking that the standard pads (3x3") hold as much ink as 9 mini ink pads? (1x1") It seems so much more economical to purchases one large pad..Can't wait to hear your evaluation of their value.. thank you.
Where can I find the full sets? And can I use them like pastels for backgrounds on my drawings with my sketchbook? Also one more question do can I use them right from the package without just like a stamp?
There are full sets of the Oxides on Scrapbook.com...I don’t think you can order full sets of the original inks. I’ve never worked with pastels so I’m not sure how these would work compared to those. And yes, you can use them directly from the ink pad to quickly ink up an area.

First off, crafting is my job so I do make some income off of my channel which helps fund craft supplies but I'm also sure to always hunt for coupons and deals. I've also been collecting for years so this has built up over time. You definitely don't need as much as what I have but since I have a RUclips channel and blog I tend to have more variety so I can have different content.
I purchased Distressed Ink’s today and got the same mini blending toll but my pads are really thin and doesn’t have the black piece at the bottom of the pads. Am I missing something?
They sell two lender handles one is a circle and one is a rectangle. You can get foam that will stick to the Velcro on The bleeding tool. The rectangle has the felt and foam. The felt is used more for alcohol blending. Hope that helps.

I love the butterfly but other than that I would never consider writing all over my bible other than neat notes in the margin and highlighting scripture it relates too and tiny tabs. With respect to the bible. That seems so Jr high
You are free to do whatever you feel comfortable with. I have dozens of Bibles...some for reading, studying, and art worship. The Word of God is holy, not the paper it’s printed on 😉 I have great respect for the Word of God and through this way of study I’ve spent way more time in my Bible and it helps to commit verses to memory but it’s not for everyone and that’s ok.
You keep calling it a downside that you can't get a higher intense tone or opacity with gesso. I would think with BIBLE journaling, that's a benefit, not a downside. After all, don't you want to still read the text?

I’m always looking for opaque paint pens to color rocks. I’ll be giving the oxides a try to see what happens. Very cool stuff

I should have said that the tool basically has a Velcro end and the pad is just a thin felt round piece.
The felt ones are for alcohol inks so it sounds like you didn’t get the right ones 😞 The ones for distress inks are foam blending tools.

How do you cover up bleed through?
Variety of ways...acrylic paint, gesso, patterned paper, incorporate the bleed through in the new entry, cover with mixed media paper, etc.

i found finger daubers on aliexpress.com for my oxide inks... labeled them and they come 40 to a clear plastic box.

I don’t always cover the text and a lot of people work in just the margins so I’m that case it would be nice to get intense color.
