After I released this video, it was reported that Matt Harvey will be named as a “possible drug source” in the trial for the death of Tyler Skaggs. nypost.com/2022/02/08/tyler-skaggs-trial-matt-harvey-named-as-possible-drug-source/amp/
There have been other players that have fallen fast too but Harvey did it in New York and that magnified it. He helped blow the 2015 World Series for the Mets is what I'll remember him for.
Remember has it was yesterday. Harvey comes out for the final inning versus the Royals in the WS. I turn to my friends and say ..."Now you trade this guy in the off season"... they all laughed. They reminded me this week after the drug trail that I was right. Harvey was a me guy and full of himself. The Mets could have got a haul for this flash in the pan.
Collins and The Dark Knight made the biggest mistake of his career by letting his hubris takeover at the biggest moment in his career. It was game 5 of 2015 World Series when het threw a tantrum in the dugout after Collins said he was bringing in Famiia (arguably the best closer in the league that year) for the ninth it was 2-0 Mets an Collins caved to Harvey blew it. KC were the Champs and Harvey has never been the same.
I was at that game, it was the fans who were responsible for that, there were 40,000 fans chanting "We Want Harvey", there is NO WAY Harvey was not going to go out in that situation and look like a coward, and than the next year the fans turned on him when he started pitching poorly, Met fans really have a short and selective memory and i wouldn't be surprised if the 2015 playoffs is what ruined him, and before the 2015 playoffs Met fans were bashing him when he said he was going to sit out the playoffs because he reached his inning limit after his Tommy John surgery than he was getting based all over the media and he decided to change his mind.
He should had familia up and throwing then after Harvey walked the lead off batter bring familia in. I'm glad it happened like it did the Royals were such a Cinderella story...
Why are pitchers not capable of throwing 100 pitches a start nowadays? Guys like Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens did it practically injury free for over twenty years with far less advanced training regimens. Now with all the finest trainers and doctors on every team’s payroll, all these players are getting hurt so often, they barely even make it through 5 innings. It doesn’t make any sense to my boomer brain.
100 pitches is just arbitrary pretty much. Reason pitchers get hurt so much now is an epidemic of bad pitching mechanics. Just compare guys mechanics now to notable power pitchers like Seaver, Ryan or Clemens*
You're also comparing every pitcher in the major leagues to literal once in a generation superstars (ignoring any ties Clemens has to PEDs, he was probably a HoF candidate anyway) Also, back in the days of Clemens and Ryan there were maybe two or three guys in the league capable of consistently throwing 100MPH. Now, with better training and medical advice that you mentioned...it seems that there's two or three on just about every team so why wouldn't you utilise that for an innings or two every game?
Considering Harvey was projected to be an average #3 starter at draft time one has to wonder if he was juicing in the minors. He never threw that hard in college. Almost over night he was throwing a harder fastball and slider. Plus there is the injuries. Makes you wonder.

He just admitted to cocaine use in that testimony. When asked if the Mets knew about it, Harvey said: I was never asked.
@@ndep93 no the Mets and his agent tried to get him help but he refused
@@nickross656 We now know. When he testified, what I said in my comment was all we knew.
Reenforced his jerk label !

one of the best baseball related videos i've seen on youtube. Keep up the great work zach!
Makes it even more crazy when you learn dude was doing coke before games, and the Mets turned a blind eye. He would've fit perfectly with that 86 team
I assume that's why his nose was bleeding

Who came back here after Matt Harvey retired?
The Dork Knight, what a cringey nickname
Well they couldn't call him the self centered cokehead.
The Machine Just Is An Badass Nickname For Albert Pujols
Great video man
Hey, how can I get in contact with you? I’d like to talk about advertising.
Baseball is crazy like that one second they think you'll be the next big thing 3 season later you're a scrub 6 seasons later you're retired.
Cocaina is a hell of a drug
The 2015 Royals were so fun to watch even though they beat my Astros...
Coacine’s a helluva drug
Funny didnt realize he pitched for the Royals the team that started his downfall lol.
Yes.

It’s possible but it’s also not unheard of that a guy starts throwing harder after he was drafted. It actually happens all of the time.
At that young age your still growing 😂😂😂 Your not fully grown till 25 really
I was thinking the same thing. Could have been taking hgh
Noah Synderfaag was never an ace. Ever.
I think he should of taken him out of the game 😂
Who is likelier to pitch in another MLB game first? This train wreck of a pitcher or proven innocent Trevor Bauer?
Bartolo Colone...
Harvey Two Face
He was on coke
This video is about 5 years too late. This is click bait/ tabloid nonsense that doesn't add anything to the game of baseball.
False
