Ive been using a Verizon MiFi for 3 years now but I got on a unlimited plan that has truly unlimited deta that doesn't throttle. But my speed's are going down to 5mbs and I think it's because the MiFi is 3 years old so I'm going to try taking my SIM card and shoving it into a newer model MiFi for much faster speed's. Hope verizon doesn't notice. XD
@@Eris_Greyrat I'm surprised you're getting 5. Most I get is 350kbs and that's using 3G. Mines unlimited as well but the fact we're paying 50$ for speeds like that is insane and it's such a scam, for 50$ we should be getting 10mbs no throttle. I know people who pay less and get much faster even with a throttle. It's just funny to me how they'll give us those speeds knowing it can go as high as 30mbps once a month and ofc that being 15gb which is a legit spec of dust if not smaller.
Be careful if connecting an external antenna onto the 8800l, those push-on jacks are very tight and so on mine by pushing too hard _the internal circuit board got shifted upwards_ , eliminating the power switch's spacing. Totally broken unit. 🤬🤬 I fixed mine by banging the unit downward to reposition the circuit board. Whewww!. 😁👍 Feel that little click when you press the power button? If it's not there, it's impossible to turn the unit off. It's always making contact if the board is shifted upward. Mine kept rebooting 100 times. Now I use some Cramolin spray and/or just twist the connectors on real gently/carefully.
Just for clarity the 8800l cannot use 5g signals but it does 4G really well. A useful wifi feature is both personal and guest wifi signals with different passwords. If you are going travelling make sure that you have an unlocked model.
Mine is just terible. It won’t work on my switch or my Xbox after a week of using it it slows down so fast then it becomes unplayable I would not buy this for gaming.!
Good review. I have Verizon mifi 8000L for 3 years and it worked great. I live in a big city and recently moved to a new apt in same city, Verizon has a good coverage here. When I moved to this new apt, I noted that mifi started showing the sign "Network Extender" with full signal and worked great. However, after 2 months that "Network Extender" disappeared and the signal is showing only 1 bar and a very slow connection. First I thought there is something wrong with mifi but interestingly I noticed the same issue on my verison phone with very slow data connection LTE (before it used to show 5G in my old apt). Called verison but they couldn't help. I have an un limited plan. Not sure if its a tower or throttling issue?
I have had one of these units for over a year now but it does not cover the entire house (1400 square feet frame house, no brick) and I'm only getting 2 bars signal strength. Is there any way to use this or link it with Mesh WiFi ? I don't have a modem or router with this 8800L, I use it as a stand alone system.
It sucks when u can’t get Comcast or any other company to come out where I live to get high speed internet. So they should do like T-Mobile and allow u to get so much gb.
The one thing I don't like about the 8800L. I set this up in my RV, and have a Ring camera linked to it. The MiFi works great most of the time. I can pull up my camera and make sure everything is ok at the RV. However, there is at least once a month Verizon checks in on my MiFi. Usually the first day of my billing cycle. When that happens any device I have attached to the MiFi magically disconnects. A reboot of the MiFi will normally restore the camera and anything else I have connected to it, but if I'm a hundred miles away at another project, there is no way to reboot the MiFi remotely. It would be a great feature if I was able to troubleshoot the device from a distance and then be able to reboot the MiFi instead of having to manually stand over it.
How do I actually pay for the data? I’m connected to the device but I don’t know how to buy data. I took it to a Verizon store and they didn’t know how
IJust bought this. Since I already have a Verizon number they made the JetPack a second line with hot spot plan. Mine cost $60/mo for 100GB. We will see how good it is.
it will but after 9 months you will experience lag. I would suggest buying 2-3 just incase you use up your GB per month. I play Val with it and one game ill be 40 ping and next im 100. I just dont understand why it lags
Good review. I bought a used 7700L which is identical as far as I can see. Mine came with a swollen battery so I replaced it and after 6 months of use I'm having to replace the battery again. It still works but the bulging battery won't stay charged long and back cover won't fit. Like you I use mine as a backup at home and once a week I use it to broadcast a zoom mtg from an address with no internet. Wondering if the newer model has battery issues.
I can’t use it because I need 400 gb a month and Verizon won’t give me that much. It starts to slow down can’t watch movies. It’s emergency use only. Not for a everyday user cause you will run out.
