Noster, I want to thank you for all your effort to try and teach us. This is probably the best guide and resource you have given us. I will now try to remmember 1x for BB and 1.5x for CL/CAs plus a little lead. I been watching all your videos, never change Noster ;)
Hey Notser...tried your method after watching this vid and Ive been hitting citadels way more consistently...thanks a bunch for this video...more game skills videos like these will always be appreciated - Peace
Thank you for making this video. I have asked for help from "teammates" in the past. Some help, Some don't, And some are downright brutal. Been playing for about a month now and I love this game. Thanks again for the Help Videos!
I want to say thank you for this video. It has helped me so much. My damage has gone up a lot. I have had multiple devastating strikes the last couple of days. It's soo nice that people accuse me of using an aim bot bc I delete them! Thank you again!
At last, some guidance on how to actually use the crosshairs & HUD!! So much advice is to use the alternate hud but not 'why' & 'how'. Even the game tutorials don't explain the crosshairs properly! Following your advice had an instant effect, suddenly I could actually hit what I was aiming at consistently. Thanks again.
Idk if aiming is a problem for some people but from day one ive been able to bank my shots extremely effectively, though it is good to know some hard numbers to back up my instinct. Youre other help videos on the other hand have taught me a lot
Nice on Notser. iChase's video with the BB going 20 kts has helped so much with long range gunnery. I am nailing shots on DDs at 12 km, and was having no problem keeping my shells on a BB sized target in the Kutuzov/Chapayev at 17-18km. I also really like the torp aiming guide you did here, tons of good knowledge.
Notser :: ⚓I'm Ball Sucking here but this is a Prime Example of a Well Explained Video, how he Edited the Video and Pointed out Key Tactics 4:01 Other RUclipsrs don't even Bother or are to Lazy to Add a little EDiting images, Least Add a Red Line, or a DOT!!!, Anyhow thank you, Notser Man,,👍🏼
I just started to play wows again after nearly 1 year off. I got fed up with the aim assistant that infested the game. But u forget lots of stuff being away for such a long time. So this vid was really helpfull. The Nurnberg I detonated at 21km with my Fuso wasn`t that happy though. Lol But tnx again....and I of course hit the follow button. Good and entertaining vids to watch.
Holy shit, thanks for explaining that freaking line with the seconds, I mean, nobody talked about it and I kind of figured that it had something to do with the seconds till going on target, but didn't know that cruisers would be faster
Thank you so much for taking the time to do these game play instructional videos. Your efforts are very appreciated. I'm also looking forward to some more map tactics videos. Regarding aiming Iv inadvertently come across another factor that seems to affect where you aim and how much lead is required.. Last week I upgraded to a new, much faster computer and I have found all the gunnery lead times I used to use are no longer correct. My internet and connection speeds and pings are exactly the same, my old computer ran the game at around 30fps, the new one at 70fps. Iv found now that all the lead times I used to use are all shooting at the very rear of the slowest ships and missing by miles for the faster and fastest. So it seems a computers performance is also a factor to consider. Just to give an example, a full speed tier 5/6 cruiser at between 10-15 klms on the old computer would require on average around a 10 tic lead, on my new computer. Now I have to give a 15 tic lead for the same ranges or see my shots fall well behind the target. When I use my Cleveland, I find I need to add even a fraction more lead due to the lazy firing arc.
Thanks for the videos Notser, they are most informative and have taught me a lot.... like the target indicator being graduated for 20kmh..... NOT 30 LIKE I THOUGHT! Doh!!. I guess I just sussed out why I miss so much :). Also I like how you shot the bow on target, I always have a problem with that shot, Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work sir, the WoWs community is much richer for it!
Hi Notser, hope you see this post =). Just wanna thankyou for these video's, has improved my game ALOT and the fun watching you deal massive damage is great. Please keep these vid's comming, Hope to try sink you sometime =P
I use the same calculation with the dynamic cross-hairs with the same results. I usually zoom out a click from full zoom unless I need to be super accurate (shooting at guns to disable them).
The Dynamic crosshair is actually super useful especially on ships with guns that have lower muzzle velocities. Just zoom out 1 step from the highest zoom, use the 15th dot and you can hit a lot of targets with ships like the Cleveland and some early german ships.
hello I would like to know if you use the dynamic or statistical aim? Does not playing with the zoom with the mouse wheel change the data? 1, or 1.5 thank you for your response.
THe only question i'm left with after watching this is, what would be some advice you would give for cruisers with torpedo armament? I would guess it would be similar to the advice for a spotted destroyer, but i was wondering if there were any specifics you would say?
Hi there, this "oval" that you use to position the enemy ship...is it some kind of a tool outside wows or what? Cause I dont have that gray "oval" circle around enemy ship.
Great Shima video Notser, didnt really get the thing with the oval but think i got i covered anyways. How did that Hipper not see those torps? The plane flew right over them?!
Have they changed the command to turn on Alternate aiming? It's no longer available in the Control Options.. there are something like 14 different Reticles to choose from, and Static and Dynamic Options.. But no Alternative Aiming.. I can't get the timing up on the aim.,
Do you tend to hold off on firing torpedoes when there are planes around that can spoil your chances or just go for it since they tend to be a constant?
Not sure this works for laptops, as in standard resolution i.e. 1366x768 or whatever. I only get to something like 16 or 17 by screen edge. But you got me thinking and my system puts it at 1=25 knots so 20=x.8, 30=x1.2 etc. Love your work, keep at it!
I really love the way the guns work on U.S. DDs but I'm up to Tier 6 DD now on American and they can in no way shape or form launch torps from concealment unless you island hump. But I guess that's the trade off right? Good guns for countering other DDs in return you lose your stealth torps?
nah. The dude contacted me after the game and told me he would kill me if he had my adress...for the shits and giggles i made a screenshot and send it to support because i thought the automated system was not adequate for such harassement. After a bit of back and forth between me and support they told me that action was taken, but would not disclose what happened. I checked the statspage of the douche. It wasn't updated for a week or so =). At no time i felt threatened though xD
I have to say that i am not amused that you posted this video. All of the sudden i die a lot more often than before, because people start to shoot better. It seems that i have to learn how to play better and dodge shells more effectively. :D j/k great video and great content in general that you provide to us noobs. Thanks a lot for this! Your videos help and entertain me on a daily basis, please keep up the excellent work. :D
im my experience the most important numbers on the dynamic crosshair is 5, 10 and 17ish, with the dynamic crosshair if you aiming for 20 your going to miss unless its as rediculas as a yamato firing at its max scout plane range at a DD at full speed
i think a target moving at about 30knots you should be aiming somewhere around 10 mark for a dynamic crosshair, nomatter what level of zoom your are using
0:36 -- I find it necessary to preface this comment by saying I am not currently playing WoW so I cannot speak authoritatively about what is true for it, but I can speak about what was true in the real world. Namely, is it cheating (or not) to have a known range to target as part of the information provided to Fire Control? And the answer is No, it is Not, because warships have been using many kinds of accurate range-finding equipment for a century or more, with radar being the mid-20th century state of the art. And, since the range to target can be known, so can the time it takes a shell (with a known velocity and ballistic trajectory) to get to target. The only "cheat" as such is that there aren't people working as "computers", calculating the updated time to target on a moment to moment basis. That's the real key point to this long comment -- people used to be considered "computers" and then transistors changed everything, in terms of how fast calculations could be made using nothing but machines.
i have my default at max zoom at 15, how do you make it to 20? i have to do one click scorl mouse weel zoom out to see the 20 mark, its really hard to aim DDs when they are out of your sight (out of your screen view) or if your in a ship that has low sell flight, you have to give out more lead. Thanks in advance!
nop, i cant select it to 20 clicks or anything, the crosshair section only allows for how the crosshair looks, but it still gives the same 15 click default. =(
i always have problems with US ships mainly due to the fact they have rainbow shell arc. do i aim just about the water line or do i aim above the hull? i always led my shots but most if not all my shells overshoot or undershoot the target. i never have problems with German ships just what the F is going on? i thought the US have better fire control then Germany.
I just updated to a 43 inch 4k monitor. The game is beautiful but one thing I have noticed is that the calibration for the dynamic crosshair is off. It used to be one tick mark for 1 second of shell flight time for a ship traveling at thirty knots. So if an Iowa class battleship was going in a straight line at full speed and it would take 10 seconds for the shells to get there you would put the 10 tic mark where you wanted to aim. It is WAY off at 4k and because I do not know the scale I can't hit anything consistently. Has anyone else had this issue?
what is the different when use dynamic and static?? for now i use dynamic and it's easier to hit cruiser than hit BBs (atleast for me).....can anyone give some tips use dynamic reticle?
Omg thats complicated (for me). BB 10km away, point 10 on center. Faster bb's on front turret, slow on back turrets. CA's 10km away point 10 on front turrets. Faster CA's aim at bow. My shots usually end up center mass. @2:25 Wyoming 9.4km and your shells end up at 9.5 on the aiming reticle. On the back/upper front turret and center. Only problem fot me are dd's. I can hit them but it's more of e feel thing than looking on the reticle. Only ships this aim style doesn't work for me is the Yorck and Tirpitz. Don't know why.
Moskva 13 something km away. 13 is is between the bow and turrets. Center mass hit. Pepsicola about 14km. 14 on turrets, center mass. See what i mean? :)
+ihavenoname73 I noticed the same thing... I want to try matching center mass with distance-matched ticks and see how it works. The main problem is that not every ship has the same shell velocity, so if there's large deviations then this rule won't work out. The time to target (used in vid) already factors in shell velocity though, so it'll be more consistent (I think).
+Jonathan Baker For me it seems to work on every ship so far (KM, IJN USN, bb's, ca's and dd's). I tried some testing with the Yorck and its AP. Cause its velocity feels really slow but it looks my way/style works with that too. Not really sure yet cause i did only few games and no one was willingly showing it's broadside ;) But just like Notsers technique you have to know roughly if it is a slow fast ship. Hope either way helps your game play.
Good to know, thanks for the tip. It's steadily improving (then again, I just started the game a week ago). Everything helps; I can't tell you how tired I am of playing battleships yet being terrified by cruisers 1 tier lower than me. Waiting 30 seconds to land 2,000 damage while they set 3 fires is beyond frustrating.
the advantage for the dynamic crosshair is that its the same scale no matter what zoom level you are at, so the number that you are aiming at when you are fully aimed in is the same number that you will aim at when you zoom out. all you have to do to make a video on the dynamic crosshair Notser is convert the numbers you use to the same spot in the same zoom level on the dynamic crosshair and it will be that number you aim at that same number for for any zoom level your at.
Last night, I finally learned how to aim at Russian high tier destroyers with my Fletcher.
I zoom out all the way, and then lead by twelve screens.
+aethertech LMAO and to think the Fletcher's shells have the same velocity as a North Carolina!!
+Oz Smith They'll slow down a lot quicker though ;P
LOL
aethertech LOL SO FUNY XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Thank you notser, with this calculation, I one-shot a Nurnberg using a Nagato today. It was great! Almost at 59% win rate now
Great work on the video, Notser. I find all your videos to be very helpful!
Thank you for the great guide. It seems simple but I have not seen the standard tick marks explained well before.

finally! someone explains how to use the aiming reticle,Many thanks, I hope my hit rate improves now :)
I use the same calculation with the dynamic cross-hairs with the same results. I usually zoom out a click from full zoom unless I need to be super accurate (shooting at guns to disable them).
In between shots, i time the water waves traverse from reticle to target. Minor adjustments for the waves independent direction.
what do you mean by that
Started using your aiming method with my Pensacola... 10 citadels 2 kills top of the team because of the citadels Notser rules
Well done Notser, I think that your video will help a lot of players!
On my side I chose the dynamic crosshair....But I play always at max zoom :D
Watched this a couple of times and changed my Crosshairs and i can shoot a lot better now.
You have such an impressive voice. Its very clear.

+Notser correct me if im wrong but doesnt shell velocity be considered when aiming ?
Found it, that's a great vid, really well explained.... thank you for putting this up Notser....
How do you prioritize while aiming with torps like the white circle above the ship?
THe only question i'm left with after watching this is, what would be some advice you would give for cruisers with torpedo armament? I would guess it would be similar to the advice for a spotted destroyer, but i was wondering if there were any specifics you would say?
Good stuff as always.....really appreciate these videos.
Learned a lot. Thanks +Notser.
How do you have the camera follow your shells and torpedos? Thanks
Great stuff. Thanks for clarification. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the video! Several useful tips!
So, that little line with the floaty bubble in the middle is for aiming??? ;)
how do you put that time and distance indicator under your crosshair? It might be usefull :)
Hi there, this "oval" that you use to position the enemy ship...is it some kind of a tool outside wows or what? Cause I dont have that gray "oval" circle around enemy ship.
Meant to watch this a while ago, Thanks for the tips Notser. Why wouldn't everyone put a like on this video?

I mean I already can aim, but great video man, I have really enjoyed all your stuff, I hope I get the pleasure of playing a game with you someday.

Keep them coming. Your the best.
Do you tend to hold off on firing torpedoes when there are planes around that can spoil your chances or just go for it since they tend to be a constant?
Thanks for the aim now I get citadels like every time!
So... you covered battleships and cruisers.... what about destroyers? Are we talking double the time to target? Or more?
Nice method ! Keep teaching people that, and I will get hit less often. Perfect !
I'm interested in knowing the scale for the dynamic crosshair if anyone's got that info, I like it more than the default one as I tend to switch zooms
I can't thank you enough for explaining this.
Awesome video. Thanks!
How do you change the camera on torps like at 8.15 of your video
Thank u for ur video. u helped me to improve my aiming signifikant. before ur video i estimated my aim point. now i can calculate it. :-)
I really love the way the guns work on U.S. DDs but I'm up to Tier 6 DD now on American and they can in no way shape or form launch torps from concealment unless you island hump. But I guess that's the trade off right? Good guns for countering other DDs in return you lose your stealth torps?
Hi Notser, been watching almost all the time you have been doing these WOWs vids. Would you be able to do a vid on how you record them. Cheers
And this kids, is also a wonderfull way of getting acused of aimbotting ;)
+Raz0rking Getting accused of aimbotting because you're a good shot is such a nice compliment though! :D
Kestral287 well...accused by shitty players is not per se a compliment =)
death threats on the other hand...
+Raz0rking If you get enough ppl to report the behaviour in chat, they can get a one day chat ban.

+Brandon Judge Z to zoom on the shell/torpedo and C to cycle between
+Notser Thanks man great help :) Just for laughs do one of the Tier I's(Erie, Orlan, Hermelin, Hashidate). Or do the Pensacola a.k.a. the Pepsicola
thank you for making playing game more fun!
and what is with 20seconds or more flytime ? how i aim on full range montana and co ?
nice vídeo notser!!
The video used Static crosshair?
@notser
What mod is this? I mean the oval arround the target cross... Thank you for an answer.
Best regards from germany
I created a oval overlay to help explain how you aim, there isn't any mod that provides that currently
@notser

pushing the torpedo key again changes between a wide and narrow spread.
Excellent video!
if you are still there 1 question does this aiming effective when i am moving
i have my default at max zoom at 15, how do you make it to 20? i have to do one click scorl mouse weel zoom out to see the 20 mark, its really hard to aim DDs when they are out of your sight (out of your screen view) or if your in a ship that has low sell flight, you have to give out more lead. Thanks in advance!
+arisini You can select the 20 ticks in the settings/controls menu. There is a crosshair selection that will allow customization of the crosshair
nop, i cant select it to 20 clicks or anything, the crosshair section only allows for how the crosshair looks, but it still gives the same 15 click default. =(
How did you toggle the ship list on the sides of the screen? Thanks in advance
Settings/Controls/Team Panel, just make sure that is checked near the bottom of the control panel.
Which crosshair mod is used? Sorry if I missed it somewhere. LOVE the videos!
+Josh Wise I use number 3 in the controls tab
+Notser Thanks!
