We are attempting to find a way to save this house - but right now it’s fate is up in the air. It was supposed to be burned today - but the fire got delayed due to conditions…. Stay tuned.

What a waste. The doors. The door knobs...the wood. Even though the fireplace mantel was simple...it was still beautiful.
I always think that when a house like that was first built, a family moved in and was proud to call it their own...their home. Reminds me of my grandparents home built about the same time. My Grandfather salvaged windows and wood from an old Victorian that was being torn down. The floor plan was odd by today's standards...but they lived there from 1928 to 1986.

There was a guy in our area a few years ago he was going to have a house burn down like that. It was a very nice house with hard wood floors . He advertised and anyone who wanted could come in and salvage whatever they wanted from the house for a whatever they offered price. Six years later I've still got loads of molding stacked up in my basement. The porch swing is on my front porch. I sold and gave away a ton of stuff. I didn't have the energy to take the floors but someone got them . He even sold the siding off the house. So many things you could make from those windows. A greenhouse would be beautiful. I've always wanted one .

Of all your videos this one broke my heart. You can sense the care that went into building and crafting it. You can almost hear the family life once there. The ghosts of long gone souls. I can’t for the life of me see why it’s being torn down. It’s part of history. Surely someone else with heart can see that too? Just heartbreaking. Same as in Ireland where I am I’m sure there’s someone on a tight budget who would love the opportunity to bring this old girl back. Thank you for documenting her structure. Very cool. It's too bad someone can't save it. Glad to see the horseshoe was hung properly so, there's still hope! I wonder who hung it. Always hang your horseshoes with the heels up to keep your blessings in. Irish legend has it that the devil will run from a horseshoe. One day the devil decided he needed a pair of horseshoes for his hooved feet. The blacksmith recognised the devil and fitted him with an agonizing, ill-fitted, poker hot pair. Not able to walk any further in excruciating pain, he tore off the horseshoes and threw them away. Whenever he sees a horseshoe, he flees. Thanks again, Robert for sharing your adventure and uncovering the neatest little details about days gone by. Blessings.

Would be nice to be able to save it. The back addition needs to be torn off but the rest looks pretty solid. Abandoned houses always sadden me. The windows from the outside look like sad eyes to me. The same with old abandoned cars and their headlights. Can't help but think how someone loved their brand new home or car at one time.

That is a right nice old house. It would take some work to fix up the back part but the front part, not so much. Paint, flooring and good cleaning. I have lived in worse. I sure would hate to see it burned.

I was gonna say it's not in that bad of shape till ya got to the kitchen area but still, with the housing market the way it is, it really could be saved, cute little place.

    Robert,
That's really sad, I know, because
in the 1960's the Victorian 2 story farmhouse I grew up in Jackson, N.J. was
burned to the ground by the person who
    got our
    farm after Dad went bankrupt.
It was a lot more interesting than this one, having been a speakeasy, and had rooms for "rent".
    during the prohibition.
It even had an old sandstone "Yankee" cellar with an old coal shoot
    and a hand dug well.
In fact , all our farm wells were hand dug, the one beside the house have the old lattice fashioned well cover and a hand cranked rod and bucket for water retrieval.
I wish there had been cell phone/cameras and You tube to document it, but all that I have is a few photos.
    Way to go Robert!
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector

Robert, some places are just too far gone to try to save. To bring that house up to code would cost far more than it's historical value which is very little. If you're trying to save it in order to salvage the materials, than that may be a worthwhile effort.

@@MrJeep75 No, I speak from experience. That particular house was built in the 30's or 40's. There are untold hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of houses of that style to be found across the country. There is nothing of historical significance about it. It's only value lies in the materials that can be salvaged from it.

It seemed that they had more taste for durable easy living. Think if all the old houses that have been. I really like your walk through. To bad the roof wasn't attended to sooner. Would have been a very nice starter home for a new couple.

This house is absolutely adorable- in need of some repairs and paint but I do love all the wood- I think it’s a shame if they burn this down for fire training because the house does not look so “dated” it’s an adorable cute house and seems to have a very strong foundation it’s not like tilting or anything.
I hope they save this house. Yes it needs to be repaired but the cost of repairing and restoring this home is nothing compared to what it would take moneywise to build another one. House prices are out of this world!

Minus the state of the add on kitchen area, the main part of the house looks so well built and solid this is a beautiful house. The craftsmanship of all those wooden walls and ceilings are irreplaceable. This breaks my heart. This house can wasily be saved and restored updated as well as left original. This makes me so sad. I can just feel the memories this house probably had and itll all be burned away to ashes😰😰😵😭💔💔💔
