you put a smaller pot that has drainage holes in it inside it (like a plastic one) if it did have a drainage hole your inside plant pot would drain all over your counter top whereas if you have an inner and outer pot it doesn't cause a mess (you can add stones to the base of the outer pot so if water drains into it it won't rot (also i know you probably won't see this because your comment was a year ago)
@@GenericMcName not really, drainage holes are common due to overwatering running rampant among people. i've been caring for many plants for years now and 75% of my pots don't have holes: you simply don't water them that often and don't use a lot of water when you do. done.
@@dimitrijekrstic7567 i’m sure the person was under the impression that we get to actually use these pots. I can come up with a couple of reasons why someone might want to make their own pot, one being not having to use plastic. Maybe air dry clay is what they have instead of wanting to buy an actual pot.
i was just wondering about this, this is very cute but there arent any drainage holes and also does this air dry clay react well to soil and water. its pretty cool though for fake plants. or just cute room decor.
Is it that hard to water outside of the pot? Why would you have the plant directly in there anyways? This is not baked clay, you don't want to get it soaked
Unless you coat the air dry clay with something like resin or another waterproof top coat, it will ruin the clay. You could use polymer clay, which turns into a plastic once baked if you want to avoid kilns (although ceramics are sooo much fun and so interesting!).
@@tams7411 but you need a kiln to dry ceramics don't you? I just purchased some moulds to make concrete pots myself, but just discovered concrete is not good for plants, so I am looking for another way to make my own (NO KILN) Ideas?
this video helped so much! best tutorial on youtube by far
Wow you are SO TALENTED!!

@@eleanordoyle299 still a horrible idea. It's just asking for root rot to happen when you can just do it right from the start and use a saucer.

Root rot? Seriously? Water outside the clay pot and let the water drain, put back in the clay pot. How can that be so hard
I don’t think you can actually hold live plants in there. Air dry clay can’t get wet. How are you supposed to water them?
You could keep them in grow pots and remove them to water. I'm trying it! It's super cheap to test it ($5 or less to make one pot).
Use a simple plastic pot and water them outside this clay one? How hard is it to come up with that idea rofl

@@dimitrijekrstic7567 keeping a plastic pot inside defeats the purpose of wanting to use a clay pot. You can put a plastic pot into anything.
How do you dry these, do you need a machine to warm them up or? I am new to this and would love to make some easy ones
they used air dry clay... but there are some clays that do need heat to dry.
So all u have to do is just put it somewhere to dry
Someone who’s never cared for plants made this lol
Wow really? 👀💜

@@yuzu-tsuyu yeah, true
Are they resistant?
I doubt it, unless you polyurethane it, paint it with acrylics, or the like.

maria llopis you could try using air dry clay to cover a cheap plastic planter

You forgot the drainage holes
I'm going to make it >:D
Wow 460k and only one comment?
