@@paulmcdougall9653 I couldn’t agree more with you on that, hugely underrated album. I think he gets overlooked because his riffs are seen as being basic, but less is sometimes more. I think it comes down to musical snobbery to be honest.
Honestly and this might get a lot of hate but AC/DC taught me a lot on how to put chords together and helped create great muscle memory for my fingers.
The three big songs for me would be Day Tripper by The Beatles (How to play something memorable that serves the song), Aerials from System of a Down (My introduction to Drop C) and Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Goode (My intro to classic rock and roll)
Dagan is amazing. He is 10x the guitarist i am (and much more handsome lmao) BUT this is literally the first time I've ever seen his playing off its game (and its still way better than mine lmao). It must have been hella early, looks like the coffee kicked in around 3:45 or so haha
@@DaganWilkin oh man, ain't that the truth! BUT You turned the jets on a few mins into the video and still made it happen, like a damn pro. P.s. I now own a Kramer solely because of you. I think seeing your pure joy playing them and talking about them (and playing Eddie's riffs on em) made it an easy choice. I'm a huge fan of how big of an EVH fan you are lmao, and you in general. Thanks for all you do man:) Love from Canada✌ Also, I am now a huge 80's guitar boy cuz of you, despite being born in 90' lol.
Hardly difficult to play, but it was "Holiday" by Green Day and "Rough Boy" by ZZ Top for me -- practising those 2 tracks gave me a creative boost and helped improve both mental and physical dexterity. It opened doors for me. It should be noted that it was the fun factor that got me there to start and it taught me that whatever it is that you are practising that it doesn't have to be highly technical to gain something from it. It can become a stepping stone of sorts. Something to build off of and boost your confidence.
I've actually learned how to play smoke on the water from deep purple on my ESP eclipse Willie Adler guitar that I got for my 27th birthday back in 2019 I like the tone and the look but the guitar itself it's eh ok but it disappointed me that it looked like a Les Paul but oh well
First songs i learnt were from: Ledzep,Iron Maiden,Metallica,Megadeth. I was obsessed with the guitar. Actually consumed quite a lot of time when I should have been studying. Well no regrets.
I’ve been playing guitar for 6 months now and I’m only as good as someone who’s played that long but I would suggest playing Black Sabbath’s Iron Man. Only reason why I’m suggesting this song is because it taught me power chords and how to move through the fretboard without feeling like I’m bad at guitar.
A song I early learned how to riff in a groovy way from is `Queen of all Queens` by the Norwegian band Popol Vuh (later named Popol Ace). Is actually a really good early 70`s prog rock song. Its on RUclips.
Theory and scales and modes and all that stuff is well and good but guitar is supposed to be fun. What’s more fun than playing super cool rock and roll riffs? Nothing. That’s what.
Pacer, good axe choice. Nightswan is my favorite Kramer guitar. That being said, i feel like every guitarist should learn at least 1 AC/DC song. I went with Who Made Who and Razor's Edge
Hi Dagan, great video! Can you tell me what is the guitar hanging up in the background at the extreme left of the screen at eg 0'18" etc ? I mean the one with the wood finish and apparently 4 tone/vol controls on the lower "horn" ? Thanks, Mike
The whole of the pornograffiti album has definitely helped me with technique and even dialing in the tone I want from my amps. Obviously Van Halen 1 is an album I think inspires 80% of guitarists at some point in their playing. I love that 80s sound and the music that came from it. However one song that’s really helped my playing is SRVs version of little wing (the famous live version). It helped me train my ear to listen as I learned it all by ear
Once you've glommed onto the ....Bollocks album, get the Kiss This album it's got the early Pistols B-sides I Wanna Be Me, Did U No Wrong and Satellite. There awesum
Watching this I realise I spend much too long hearing people talk about guitars than I do actually listening to people playing guitar on records these days. Ironically.
Every player trying to move from beginner to intermediate should learn how to play little wing. Had so many useful techniques for the future. Takes a loooong time to learn though. Took me about 6 hours to learn the first 30 seconds of the song.
I would add Grindavísan by Tyr. You'll need a 7 string guitar and Heri Joensen has a video showing how to play the solo. You would need one with 30 frets to play it exactly as the album has it but he does mention how to play it on one with less.
Great video as usual Dagan. I would be interested in learning more about how people use their left index finger as an ‘anchor’ as they slide up and down the neck. I could really use some tips and instruction on that.
Good to see Steve Jones getting some recognition. Excellent choices all round.
Ever listen to his “Fire and Gasoline” album? I’ve always considered it one of the most under rated guitar albums of all time.

@@paulmcdougall9653 His Suffragette City cover on that album is ace!
@@DevinRyanVitek excellent album through and through. I always loved the guitar tone. The album he did with Neurotic Outsiders was good as well.

Couldn't agree more and anyone that doesn't like Bon Scott era AC/DC is has something wrong with them.
How can you hate on AC DC.
@@paulsworld2 idk man but I’m sure there’s people out there!
AC/DC is just one long song 😬
Hating on ac⚡dc won't get alot of support in these parts... fighting words🤘😜🎸🎶👊
wings of a butterfly by H.I.M. is a wicked good riff
The three big songs for me would be Day Tripper by The Beatles (How to play something memorable that serves the song), Aerials from System of a Down (My introduction to Drop C) and Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Goode (My intro to classic rock and roll)
Wild side Motley crue, will make you a better fast down picker...
'There's some new stuff and old stuff'

Great list though

Wings of a butterfly by H.I.M. Love that song! Dark light is a great album too!
Just remembered the real best riff of all time.... Ratt "Lay It Down"
Im a simple guy, I see a Mötley Crüe album cover, i click
Wow. Emi blew my mind. Then I listened to whole album besides the tracks I already knew. Why didn’t I check this out before?!!
Dagan could just be standing there, not saying anything and I'd still upvote the man to the moon. Love you and your personality, mate.
Could do with some really basic ones at my level. And I mean basic.

Dude YES holiday!!! That was my first riff
Dude dammit by blink 182 pushed my string skipping game back when I was just starting out don't underestimate it because it's blink 182
HIM. Wings of a butterfly!
One of Dagan's favourite songs right there! 🤘
Submission by Sex Pistols is a good one to learn. Fairly simple.
You surprised me with Wings of a Butterfly by HIM lol

The first riffs I learned were classic rock, classics from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, also blues such as Allman Brothers and Pink Floyd

Good job!
Thanks!
do you want to learn some really unique riffs? check out really old blues records. big mamma thorpe, john lee hooker, etc.
Your riff Raff main song-"riff" not quite right dude! No 3rd fret on the "A"-its just the A
AC/DC, Raitt, Rox Gang, Led Zeppelin, Posion 🤟🎸
New players should practice the intro to Over the Hills and Far Away. It increases your hammer on and pull off strength a lot and is fun to play
Pacer, good axe choice. Nightswan is my favorite Kramer guitar. That being said, i feel like every guitarist should learn at least 1 AC/DC song. I went with Who Made Who and Razor's Edge
Try learning have a drink on me. Great riff!!!!!
Dude, I love this! I couldn't figure out what that last chord was in Dr Feelgood, you're a mate!

That’s Dagan’s old 1987 Kramer Pacer Custom II, those are actually just spare guitar picks duct taped to the body, Eddie Van Halen style! Haha
Crazy train for me
4:24 Man that's so much easier than i thought
What song was that he said 10 points for naming lol?
Dio and King Diamond!!!!Please!👽👽👽👽👽
HIM Wings of a Butterfly

HIM - Hings of a butterfly. Amazing song. You rock man.
I've learned so much about chords and scales, but also creativity within a structure, from the old blues guys

If you want to get bettee at down picking you can't go wrong with Master of Puppets by Metallica
