It's actually a lower fifth, and it's called a staked power chord and try tuning to drop D and play D chord letting all strings ring out, except high E, and u got and even more stacked chord for adding another root
Man, this is sooo cool, some of these techniques I've just picked up on my own listening to the songs and artist you've mentioned or just found them on my own!! Still a few I didn't know! Legend Dagan! 🤘
@@DaganWilkin Did it have that little coil splitter switch right in your strumming path? I accidentally hit it nearly every damn show! I would've ended up deleting that if I'd kept it.
This was a great video, very much enjoyed the stop to take the time not just showing "hey check this out" but then saying "Never played a pinch harmonic, I will show you in detail!" I appreciate it.
Dude, this channel has convinced me to pull the trigger and buy a guitar!! Though i may play lefty, i will still learn with this absolute WEALTH of info
EVH always came up with strange but cool techniques, he could make all kinds of stuff up!! The second technique is used a lot by Corrosion of Conformity, think of Albatross!
Detuning I learned something about that as well. I noticed if you tune the C op the low E string, in Drop C a little lower, as in, slightly off.. it actually sounds better.. the more you know..
That "inverted power chord" is called a stacked 5th, because you are adding the low octave of the 5th of the root. A stacked 5th really only sounds correct when you add the high octave of the root note, such as the root-5th-octave barre chord. You need that high octave of the root note to even out the low octave of the 5th. Without that high octave of the root note, the stacked 5th note BECOMES the root note.
Nice video and some good techniques. Surprised you don't scratch your guitars up wearing a steel banded watch on your right hand...as a right hander (I assume).
You with a Kramer always puts a smile on my face lmao... keep living the dream my friend... always good to see yall across the pond refuse to shave amd get hair cuts... heres to being in our late 30s and only semi responsible hahaha
I have the cheap version ht100 Blackstar with two 412 cabinets and a pleather of pedals which half are in the effects Loop in the back of the head it's the best I've ever sounded☆ but I am thinking about an attenuator? Haha.
@@DaganWilkin oh it's original? that's awesome. Definitely reminded me of something off the World On Fire album. You're awesome Dagan thanks for all the great guitar info.
A Kramer? Aren't those grandspas guitars nowadays. I like oblique bends, especially around the octave. If anything is a signature of my style, it's that and wide vibrato.
Btw.. Proud Mary, the Ike (although we all know who the talent really was) and Tina is the better version when they pick up the tempo and beautiful goddess of legs and power voice kicks in!!
Did you missed one it's not really a squeal is more of like a squall but zakk Wylde does it all the time for the life of me I can't figure out what he's doing it looks like he's around the 2nd fret sorry about that you didn't miss it it's just finding the right spot for your picking hand
It's Dagan's old 1987 Kramer Pacer Custom II. Check out our HSS Jackson & Charvel models over on our website! Or click the links in the video description 🤘
I could watch you go between making random noises to jamming out like you’re in a stadium packed full of 100,000 screaming fans, brother. I suppose I’ll have to search out the weird and wacky guitar noise videos you referenced, because I apparently was not informed of them like RUclips is suppose to and those links provided are not going anywhere for me.
For "beginners"? Most of the videos you've done are usually pretty informative and I generally find them to be of some interest. In fact, I typically happen to like your videos. --- However, when you suggest to beginners that they should horse around with open tunings, and actually distort their properly tuned guitars right in the middle of playing, then I have to call you on it since --- at least in this case --- you have clearly lost touch with reality. Most actual BEGINNERS have all they can do just to try to keep their guitars in tune, in the first place! And it doesn't help anything, either, if they're poor and have to struggle with inferior instruments and beat-up strings so battered that most of the time they can't even get them to hold a tuning! Personally, I find this video interesting --- but really not of much use to actual beginners (as it purports to be). I don't think you really mean actual BEGINNERS, at all, but, rather something altogether different.
The power chord with the lower fourth is one of my favourite heavy guitar sounds. I probably use it too much - if that's possible.

Love that EVH style tap harmonic at 00:15
Dagan you the man! appreciate these lessons. I think I’ve learned more from RUclips than 3 years of in person lessons.
Dagan is such a sweetheart and an impressive guitarist.
Very informative, always love seeing your tips and tricks vids.

Any rate always appreciate the dope

I was surprise that you talked about a van halen in Balance Album

Men you are something else
King of the behind the nut bends has to be Jake E Lee. Ironically mention of Zak I think he over uses USB pinch harmonics
weezer use that inverted power chord technique a lot, makes their chords sound beefier.

Better than CCR original?
