I have the ThinkDiag 1st gen it worked great but the Bluetooth recently died, after leaving it in the caron a hot day. Hopefully this new one is more robust.

I so prefer my Autel MK808, I've done so much with it including key programming on a late Peugeot 308 and Honda CRV 2017 but you'll need the pin code for the Peugeot. Same goes for alot of the base line diagnostic tools and I'm guessing Thinkcar is the same..

Great little device for sure, I'm about to review it on my channel too, but I did notice the subscription after the initial free 12 Months isn't cheap, at around £50 a Year (or £125 for 3 Years) so I think you need to be sure you're going to use it well, and not just for clearing the odd DTC - nice review :)
I believe that’s 50 per year per car manufacture?, so if you have multiple car brands you gotta pay for each brand? So basically this is good for a car owner not a technician on multiple cars? I’m interested in this but I’m a tech and wanna use it on any vehicle.
@@georgef1176 I'm unsure George, I was under the impression that you get free updates for the basic OBD2 functions, then it's $99 after the initial 12 Months to be able to use the Bi-directional functions (any car) but as I say, I'm not 100% on that
I would be surprised if that JV700 IC is a custom voltage regulator - why would such a thing be necessary? I think it's more likely to be an all-in-one transceiver/interface for multiple non-CAN protocols such as J1850, ISO 9141-2, KWP2000, etc.

@@sdgelectronics at the moment it's $39.95 USD for one make and $49.95 per reset function. They have deals from time to time so it will work on all makes and models including reset functions. I think right now you can get 2 years full functionality for about $175 USD which is good value IMHO.
Just use a resistor across the pins so it thinks there is a lamp present. Typically a 220R resistor will work to pull down the voltage enough to have the module be happy there is a lamp there.
@@sdgelectronics Yes but the resistor also prevents the faint pulsing glow as the door module does it's regular presence detecting on the lamp, which is also there to set another flag for intermittent connection in the lamp.

Thanks for the review! I'm wondering how you chose this model? Seems there are thousands of OBD diagnostic tools and clones. Hard to know which ones are a good value. Also difficult to know if a tool will be fully compatible with all functions for a particular make and model vehicle. I currently use Techstream software with a data cable because I own a Toyota.
This one seems to be at a very attractive price point for a tool with bidirectional controls. When I was looking you needed a $500+ tool to do these things. This allows things like cylinder deactivation, control of valves, solenoids etc even whilst the engine is running.

@@sdgelectronics If I am not mistaken Autocom-Delphi, Launch, Autel will function normally. Bosch tools is hideous in this aspect though. For the price of 80USD/year it is a no brainier if it does all those things. Well worth it. Can you use the software in multiple devices, or change a device with no registration hassle?
@@fir3w4lk3r You're right Autel seems to carry on working, but no updates or new vehicles. The software lets you pick the connected tool so I would guess if you had two you can switch between them.

They removed all my details including my email because I didn't renew my subscription. NOW it's useless as I didn't know that the one time activation codes a one time thing. If u lose it that's it. Their customer service absolutely sucks.😊

This model supports CAN FD Protocols for more vehicles. The older model is not adding newer car models because of the lack of CAN FD protocol support. This is from their website. Hope the information helps.

Thinkdiag 2 work for all popular cars, it is best cheapest bidirectional scanner. But you need install app on phone.

People do not buy thinkdiag because they are scammers you get 1 year free software but when 1 year is over you have to pay 130 euros for everything and if you do not take a package each car brand costs 30 euros in case of problems the thinkdiag service does not help you nobody knows about each other there they give you an email and say contact here and when you contact that person says contact the thinkdiag app these are total scammers really don't understand why no one is doing anything about this
