Same situation happen to a family member of mine she into the banking field and make good money. Encourage her than Husband to attend school while she pay all the bills and after he got his master she buy him a car Mercedes and throw a party. Few months later this fools decided to up and leave and left her stuck with bills of all kind. She loss everything and end up in her Mama basement at the age of 45 years old middle age women who once had the cars, houses and living the good life. To God be the glory she was able to bounce back due to the fact she still had a JOB and now living on her own again with a nice home, car and doing so much better, but it took determination and lots of family therapy for her to get over this..

Great video Patrice! My wife and I live in Massachusetts. 10 min. from Boston. But we are tired of how CRAZY expensive is getting here. 2 bedrooms to rent is almost $2,000. and shitty apartments. Houses are above $400,000 and small houses. Education is great. But I work in house remodeling and do signs for businesses on the side. We want to save for the next two years and buy a house in GA. We are tired of the fast pace life here. And cost of living is getting out of our hands. Like many people. Plus weather sucks. Everything is crowded here.

I hate to say it, but as a native of Atlanta, I have seen this alike with my white brothers and sisters; just the truth! Sorry! I am very interested in what bring people to the South. I was raised and born in Atlanta and what we call a Grady Baby! lol A lot of people come here with the idea that they will live in the city, but those days are over for the most part if you don't have a lot of money. Most people live comfortably and successful in the suburbs. As for the utility companies working with you, they stopped that a long time ago. i lived in Atl since 1996 and it is so true,,there are a lot of hating GA peach black folks who are so resentful against others who moved to Atl..The bad thing about it is particularly those who lived in Atlanta that faced gentrification in those very neighborhoods focused on the wrong thing and those very same black folks are replaced by those who those same racist, liberal white folks who control this so called black megga Atlanta. As for the jobs there are a lot of nepotism when it comes to jobs and own family members look out for each other. Lady Tee what's wrong with gentrification? It lowers crime and makes an area nicer and it's basically a free thing for the residents when a place gets gentrified. So if you live in a ghetto then they gentrify it now your safer you live in a nicer environment and it didn't cost you anything
Omg I moved to Georgia in 2005 about right after hurricane katrina . I moved from Chicago with my family I was still in high school . When they found out we were from Chicago all hell broke loose . We got “y’all think y’all all that cause you’re from Chicago “ huh??? The GIRLS hated us while the men adored us which was crazy because we were friendly . We were bullied so bad every time I come back to Georgia I pray I never run into those girls they made my life a living hell .
I moved here from Seattle, WA about 20 years ago. I have had only one issue the last 10 years and that has bee access to a quality jobs. Thank God I do not have any bills or debts so I can just chill and take it in stride. Hopefully, one day I will find something because my industry left here when the market crashed in 2008. Now, most of the truly great people have either moved on or have unplugged from all of the nonsense that is now the makeup of the current Georgia. We have decided to wait things out. We are hoping most of the transplants will leave and go somewhere else and we can come back out and play but until then most us us have just decided to hit the road for our fun these days. Many people today are chasing waterfalls in desert!
Hello All, can you guys tell me what are some safe suburbs to live outside of ATL? We are liberals from NY and Va. We would like to live in a diverse town or suburb. We are not interested in Atlanta. Not trying to live in. Big city again , we prefer a town or big suburb that has parks, amenities, shopping, etc. Also are there any coastal Beachy towns in GA!?
The money is pretty good I think for most people just because of a lower cost of living blue collar jobs will pay less but like my dad moved down here because engineering jobs pay more than they did on Long Island

Similar to my sister who put her ex-husband through school while she was in the military. He was dating another woman, younger. When he finished school (remember she paid for his college) he asked for a divorce. She was devastated. He also walked away with half of her retirement (since she was military). I'm not applauding this but his heart failed and he had to have a transplant. The younger woman did not marry him either.

Gee, paying bills for me has been part of being a responsible adult, you will actually save money that way, you might not have material things, but as you learn to successfully pay your bills and save, for a nurse not being able to pay your light bill. Some people I think are meant to be in a situation, I have saved up over 500 dollars several times, but everytime I lost it, robbed, stolen (from purse at work,) lost in a student loan, after paying 3x more. So finances is part of life, get used to getting by, with less, it is the material things and the wnt for them makes you miserable. You have only yourself from birth to death, realize that as long as it's good, with a mate, it is good, but life is temporary, don't look for problems, yet do not ignore them, become a rock, that stands along, and people will be drawn to you. Similar to my sister who put her ex-husband through school while she was in the military. He was dating another woman, younger. When he finished school (remember she paid for his college) he asked for a divorce. She was devastated. He also walked away with half of her retirement (since she was military). I'm not applauding this but his heart failed and he had to have a transplant. The younger woman did not marry him either.
We just have to forgive and move on. Thanks for your support.

Oh dear...I am In Wisconsin near Milwaukee...I am moving to Georgia, Evans or Augusta in that area, but planning on it for next year in the summer 2018...I am cna and work in home care and do some live-ins...pay for me would be the same in Georgia , as in wisconsin and rent would be the same too.....you sound very sad and let down

Gee, paying bills for me has been part of being a responsible adult, you will actually save money that way, you might not have material things, but as you learn to successfully pay your bills and save, for a nurse not being able to pay your light bill. Some people I think are meant to be in a situation, I have saved up over 500 dollars several times, but everytime I lost it, robbed, stolen (from purse at work,) lost in a student loan, after paying 3x more. So finances is part of life, get used to getting by, with less, it is the material things and the wnt for them makes you miserable.

No disrespect but you can go back to Philadelphia. Your experience isn’t everyone else’s. Doesn’t have to be. I commend you for taking a risk but if you not happy then move elsewhere and try again. I’m not from Atlanta. I have family and friends down there. I’m from NY and live in SC. One thing I notice is ppl moving and constantly complaining. For ppl who want to move take other ppls experience as a grain of salt. Do what makes you happy and make the best of it. Make your own experiences please.
