Is there anyway you could post a video of your wiring form your forward and reverse switch? I'm having issues wiring mine. Mine is a 1986 marathon EZGO. I see you have a cable running from the front of the forward and reverse switch to the negative side? I also see a cable on top of the solenoid, what is that connected too?
Hi, I no longer have this golf cart so I can't make any more videos about this specific one but I can try to help you. Looks like I had the 4 terminals on the F&R switch going to Solenoid, S1, and A2 going to the motor, and the last one going to battery main positive
I have a 1988 ezgo electric marathon, it stopped working when I was moving it out of the garage and put it in forward, it made a shorting sound and went dead. I have replaced the solenoid, wiper switch, the accelerator micro switch and the forward reverse switch, it still does nothing. Your video was very good, except since you removed the buzzer and micro switches, it didn't help me to properly hook the wiring back up on the switches, I am getting plenty of volts to the battery side of the solenoid, but only 3 volts or less to the key switch and the opposite side of the solenoid. I didn't hook any wire to the other side of the buzzer just the red one that came attached. Do you think there is a grounding problem with the key switch, this is starting to stress me out, please help, thanks. I have a schematics showing the two wires from the key switch one going to the accelerator micro switch and the other going to one of the micro switches on the forward reverse switch.
There's so many things that could be happening that it will be impossible for me to guess but I'd go ahead and double check everything making sure the things that should be getting power (like the key switch, solenoid, motor, and controller) are getting power and that the controller is giving power to the motor. Use a voltmeter to make sure that the controller is receiving power from the batteries and sending power to the motor. You could test the motor by disconnecting the motor from the controller and giving it power directly from the batteries. If the motor spins, it is probably fine.
I have a 93 Marathon 36 v. the battery and electrical look like mine. In the video you removed the micro switches and buzzer, what do the switches do and where do they land. Do you know where I can get a wiring and a mechanical diagram. Thanks for your Video
Looks like there’s some good diagrams on some online forums like this one: cartaholics.com/threads/1993-36v-marathon-forward-and-reverse-switch-and-solenoid-wiring.21622/ I’m trying to remember what the microswitches are for. I think one was for the half speed reverse which I didn’t need on such an old slow cart. The other might have something to do with F/R direction or the backup buzzer.
Thanks for your reply. Seems to work electrically. I didn't know but when you mentioned the half speed switch I wondered if one of them was it, and the other, the reverse buzzer. Looks like it's getting hard to find information on such an old cart. Have some mechanical issues with play in the steering. Again Thanks for your video and information. Looking forward to more of your videos. Mel
Glad I could help a little. And thanks for watching and subscribing! Sloppy steering will most likely be the tie rods or possibly the gear box if tie rods don’t totally fix it
Yes, Carts unlimited makes a kit to switch these over to a reversing contactor with a switch that goes in the dash. I've installed them several times and they are wonderful. www.cartsunlimited.net/reversing-contactors.html
Where does the red wire go on that backside of the solenoid? The one with the black on one of the main posts.

Hello I am having trouble setting up my coward and reverse switch do you have any pictures or videos helping me link up all my cables ?
This is the only video I have and I don’t have any other photos. Hopefully this video can help though!

hey brother, is it possible to change this into a switch like modern carts?

Hi I have the same ezgo but don’t find anyone with information on how to hook this cart correct can you make a video please
What are you trying to hook up?
Thank you
I hooked it up the way you said.i put the positive wire on positive terminal , the ground wire has a terminal on it don't no were to put it. Help
