First Flight with Allegiant! | Newark to Asheville onboard their A319

Among US airlines, Allegiant Air hasn't always had the best reputation. But, they're cheap, very cheap and air travel as of late has been getting pretty pricy. So, I decided to take the plunge and fly with this ultra low cost carrier a few weeks ago from Newark (EWR) to Asheville, North Carolina (AVL). This was my first time flying with Allegiant and this trip report covers my experiences.

Asheville is my home airport. I’ve flown Allegiant from AVL to Orlando round-trip. Like you, I was apprehensive about flying Allegiant but for a short, non-stop flight at a very affordable price I thought I’d give it a try. It was perfectly fine. The flights were on time and the service on board was friendly and efficient. I wouldn’t necessarily choose Allegiant on a longer route (say over 2 hrs) because of the limited leg room even if you have a bulkhead seat but it was just fine for a shorter flight.

It's interesting that Asheville is featured in this video. If I ever end up moving out of my hometown, Asheville is one of the cities I have considered moving to. If I can't do that, I hope to at least visit one day. The Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous.

I'm flying the same route next month. I'm nervous as per usual with flights. Weather or a flight issue might happen. I just need to be prepared for safety. Any advice on what to pack? I haven't booked a hotel yet in Asheville.
