    I've bumped into your channel totally by chance... And I'm very happy it happened! I love to walk around in the night with cameras and a tripods to shoot streets and neon signs. U know I live in Rome, Italy, and here we've a littlle bit too much of orange glow to really shoot stars (sometimes even to SEE them). But the arguments u talk about are so close to my work that i think i can transplant some of them very effectively into my night works... And who knows, maybe also pack my car ad drive 50-70 km outside the city limit to try some starry sky experiments. Anyway, thanks for your work and explanations, and... G'day!

      One question I would like to ask is what a decent milkway image looks like straight out of camera if you could possibly show us in an upcoming video. On the odd occasion I find myself on holiday somewhere with dark sky's I struggle to obtain any decent Astro images and it is driving me crazy!

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  5 лет назад

      @@martynrichards9034 Yes it's an interesting question Martyn. The milky way straight out of camera never looks as impressive and I think RAW files in general are pretty flat. There is certainly a lot of colour information in those raw files but there is also no doubt that many people go beyond the natural colours in nightscapes.

    I really like the old hut, a rare find indeed. Using principles of portrait and flash photography is great though personally l don't know how l would lug around so much gear. That being said with the right location and if time wasn't pressed l'm sure it certainly could add to a variety of shots and angles. Well done on the F10 light painting and zipping around to light paint the single hut shot, they were both great.

    Great production and informative video. Awesome shots!!! Question, when you do your rows for panos, do you use a special tool or just the tripod and I assume you keep the same infinity focus point when you start or refocus when you start each row. Thank you.

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks a lot for watching David. I just use a tripod fitted with a ball head. My method is to keep the camera level using the inbuilt spirit level. I overlap a lot, sometimes 50% and I do keep the focus on infinity for each shot. I'll generally not have a lot of emphasis on really close foreground objects for panos cause it's a lot harder to focus stack.

    • @nightscapeimages.richard
      @nightscapeimages.richard  5 лет назад

      No it shouldn't do that Spence. There are 2 possibilities. 1. You may be shooting in TTL .. if you do that the camera requires a pre-flash to get a meter reading for the main flash to follow. 2. What brand of flash are you using and is it off camera ..??

    Hi Richard, just looking back at this video of yours. I didn't know you were a Timelapse + View user. Do you still use it?
    I bought one about 9 months ago and even though it has its quirks it's a handy unit for ramping timelapse.
    Here's one I did before Christmas

      Thanks for watching Trevor. I haven't used the View for a while but I will when the time is right. In June I can get the milky way core rising in the east just on sunset so it makes a good transition from day to night. I agree . .it has it's quirks but is a great piece of gear. PS: I love your attached clip .. well done.
