A thought that rises in this vein: Live so a life that others will want to come meet you. Also, unfortunately, it is the custom in the West for the old to retire. We take their lifetime of learning and push people to park it, so to speak. Jim Rohn wisely relates an anecdote about his elderly father, a farmer, who never retired, and asking him rhetorically to imagine what its going to be like investing the last 75 or 76 years of experience into the coming year. Before they go, the old should leave their wisdom to us that trail behind on this winding road. Everyone has something to teach us. Also, exercise is not primarily a portion for longevity's sake...but rather for the pleasure of employing the body as its own reward. Better to die old and strong than old and mushy.
I admired and appreciated these two so much. Their wisdom, humour, kindness and humbleness. Oh and of course their business acumen….We will never see their like again.
If you like investments, spirituality, physics and history I can be your friend 🙂(no idea how the hell I saw this comment, so, I thought, why not asking? Warren would aprove such investment, potential high returns in form of a friend at a simple request 😀)
@@Snowchild410 Ok. I like to pinpoint 3 bad assumptions imo that you made there: I know a lot about having friends, and Warren too, hence he enjoyed time with Charlie. Friends, they're not investments, they're people, some of them are like my brothers and sisters, and I dont have lots of friends. Even though Warren doesn't invest in businesses that he doesn't know, he tries to know some, like Apple, beacuse if he doesn't try to learn, he wouldn't invest in anything, nobody is born knowing businesses. Have a nice Sunday.
What a great partnership over such a long time. Impressive: because the two of them had the most fun when something went wrong. Then they had to work and dig themselves out of the fox hole together. What a wonderful description.
Warren would probably thank him a lot for teaching him quality investing that helped a lot when money under management increased. Really good partnership!
There you go ,, 94 he shed a tear for what he does not have ….. money is a tool to help get through life , it’s meaningless…. Charlie was everything to him
Poor Charlie's Almanac always makes me think of him as the modern day Benjamin Franklin.... minus all of that stuff over in France. I bet those two were kind of similar.
Back in high school, we read a story called "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", and from the project that we did based on that novel, I think it's very similar to what Warren is talking about. There's a last day for everyone, here on Earth, but once you go up to Heaven, I believe you can meet anyone you want, no matter if they lived in your time, or many years ago. My goal in life is to make it to see some of my own advanced ages, like my 70s, my 80s, or if I'm lucky enough, even my 90s. I really don't know how many people will be still around then that I know now, but I hope I can spend my last day with at least one of them, and spend an eternity up in Heaven.
start having lunch with who you want to now, and as often as you can because... "why wait till the last day, and don't bother with the others" - Warren Buffett 2024
They have led their lives very simply, gave the most helpful advice on life and money, had a very beneficial influence on government policy, and possess a stellar character. They have contributed billions to charity and denied themselves the luxury that their wealth could have provided them with. They taught the rich how to live and use their wealth, a lesson we poorer people should learn. They are worthy of most of ours admiration and adoration.@@Doradoo-h1q
I remember, they played the trumpets for Kissinger who should have been charged as a war criminal, but was only chance that i heard charlie had passed. I thought to myself, there is something very wrong their as he had more integrity in his little finger

that is essence of life, whether you have wealth or not but not to be cower down to subevrsiveness just because .. from my side answer to that always be NO.. you cannot bully harm me or dangle carrots f wealth and expect me to bow down to it.. not going to happen with me...
A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve not with standing inflation, from $275k to $850k.
No mention of God or Christ. Two wealthy men, one has stood in front of the judgment seat of Christ one to follow probably pretty soon. I wish them both luck on the other side.
How is this guy still alive and healthy? Seriously. He says he eats fast food and drinks coca cola everyday, I had to stop drinking it before 50. Thanks for the subtitles, though. I cannot stand this guy's voice.

"Figure out who you want to spend your last day with. Then go and meet them. " wow
Ton of wisdom in that statement. IMO, the key to true intelligence is to be able to learn from other peoples experiences.

Doing what you love, living where you love, sharing life with the one you love. A great trilogy in life.
What a great response from Warren to a very mature question from a child. Warren did not talk down to him. Respect.
pure gold of each and every word he said!
I wish I have one friend in life that is as special as Charlie was to Warren.

I want to spend the last day of my life with my family.
Warren was beginning to tear up a little at the beginning, when he answered.

Charlie Munger told Buffett to buy Vacasa (VCSA) and Viatris (VTRS) on his last day!
Damn, if you told me that Warren and Charlie are gay, I am not surprised
Buffett will Go soon, too. His whole appearence very weak, especially voice. Will miss him a Lot.
