I have 2 and they are always ready to move that herd somewhere- anywhere- even if they don't need moved. I taught the really energetic one to open the door when she was outside because once she turns the knob she can just push it open. It was her job to let the other animals in when they want. Somehow she learned when there was someone in that wanted out to open the door for them too. The other day I left her in while I went out. In a few minutes there she was. She has figured out how to open the door from the inside by putting her feet on the wall while she turns the knob then she can pull the door enough to get her nose in there and get it open. So now she can be the doggy doorman even when she's inside. If I don't want her opening the door I just lock it. She is so happy to have doubled her work load!
@1coketogo554 "Scary smart" definitely seems the applicable term!! 😅 I imagine if you don't find tasks for her, she continues to find her own, possibly in ways that you don't really want...? That's great though to hear about an animal who's getting so much enrichment in their life!

@PeteS-ht1wc I'm a first time dog owner and getting a border collie has changed my entire life. I am a single man. Business owner. Make my own hours and have my own hour with no kids and a huge yard with a field and woods. At first my dog Panda was way to much to handle and I was struggling and even had a moment where I felt like I made a really had decision but as the days past and she stopped Teething and learned how to use the bathroom outside and realized I was her Dog Dad and Best friend we had a Moment where she ended up getting into my tackle box and had 3 of my fishing lures hooked into her mouth. I cried my eyes out as I held her down and cut the hooks out with wire cutters. After they were all out we legit made eye contact with a good 15 seconds of no movement and just starred both with tears in our eyes and at that point we Bonded and became inseparable. She knew I was there to protect, take care of and love her and I instantly seen a change in behavior. I had her since only 6 weeks. She destroyed thousands of dollars worth of shoes, carpets, iPad computer cell phone refrigerator furniture you name it. She chewed through all the cables and ripped everything apart. After the fishing lure incident she never chewed any other items ever again and she now does so many tricks and commands and listens better than anyone's dog I know. She has a following in my hometown of people who all know her and she had her own IG which is brand new but still she can understand English and knows my routine. She's so so smart and I love my dog Panda more than anything. She's my Kid and she makes me so happy. Her IG is SmartDogPanda she has ice blue eyes. She changed my life for the better and I'm so happy she's apart of my life and I'm apart of hers

I lost my best canine friend this summer. She was a 12 yr old, 65 pound blue merle blue eyed border collie. This song could have been written about her. So sweet and smart. I have had lots of working dogs in my life but she was by far the most athletic of them all. And I swear if she had been born with opposable thumbs we would all be working for her today. RIP Blue you set the bar very high, you’ll always be the dog of my lifetime.

there are a number of versions of this out there all sung by Rich Hall. But some of them try and excise profanity other than "goddamn." Also some are set to photos of border collies or video of border collies. These are truncated as well.

My BC runs along on my mountain bike rides every day at 11yo. Wakes me every day at 5:30, snuggles for a bit, then it’s out to the truck and off to our daily ride. I’m 76, and wouldn’t be so active if it wasn’t for the border collie.

Yep ... we had an Aussie as well ... two of 'em in fact. Both rescues. Now we have a border collie complete with his original ranch name ... also a rescue.

As the owner of a working line border collie lovingly known as “The Meth Badger”, this song is painfully accurate. (Interestingly enough, I also own poodles and schnauzers 😂)
