I don't think anyone has come to love the Kanneh-Masons like I do. Isata is wonderful. Braimah is awesome. Sheku is a young legend. Konya is gentle but amazing. Jeneba might electrifying on the Piano. I love Aminata's smiles while she enjoys her beautiful play. Mariata? I think she might win BBC Young Musician before she clocks 15. Starting at 3, and having a coach in all er older siblings particularly Sheku, she might just be the best Cellist of all time. WONDERFUL FAMILY!

LOVE this family. These parents. I only have one child. A son. I would play my guitar, classical, next to my pregnant belly. I played music constantly throughout his life. On guitar, taking him to live theater, Mozart Music Festival in Salzburg. Music was always and still is a major of my daily life. My son lives it actually. My son takes solace in playing his bassoon, auditioning for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra late spring. It is imperative for his health in every way. No matter color of skin, ALL passionate musician's are icons. In most ways I never see color, only the art. I realize the importance of race, ethnicity, socio economic constraints and freedoms. That is why I haven't mentioned ethnicity as others have in this comment section.
I have read the biographies of many famous musicians and they usually have musical families. It reminds me of a letter by Bach, where he said that he could get his entire family to perform works.
The moral of the story is the importance of good parenting. When children drift from parental attachment to hanging around in youth gangs. In reality we are all super humans but it's our socialization that shapes us.

They live in Bath where music is part of their secondary school curriculum. Both parents work(availability of employment) and bullying at school and home is practically non-existent! Their upbringing at home is catered by both parents! Dad, British born of Antiguan(Caribbean)parents sacrificed almost everything for their welfare. Again the society is somehow fairer there than the greater part of the country! The whole package plays part to shape the future of the youth!
Not just to gangs, but to despair and self-hatred. Not all are blessed in the same ways. Some families are blessed with disabled children. Very challenging. Let us celebrate all families. Let us support marriage. Let us support having children. What a refreshing family you all are!

Like learning to ride a bicycle, the benefits of freedom are way larger than the sacrifices you make in terms of time or effort, to learn and stay proficient. It's also fantastic for mental health, and is beneficial to a troubled mind like an exercise is to a weakened body.
This is parenting done right, nothing to do with their color, it's good for parents to install culture into their children from a young age and teach them the importance of real timeless music that will live on forever. If you see your child has a talent, nurture it!!
To hear him (and yes, see him) playing in front of Prince Harry's wedding was the tops, for sure. My daughter plays the violin and I too have made many sacrifices as a former single mother to pay for my her instrument and lessons (Lessons that were on a reduced scale BTW from a Jewish School).I am so grateful. I am proud, but not so racist not to take the help when needed. It's called humility, and it is a gift. If there is a need , a good person with a conscious would respond instead of overthinking it or standing by criticizing people that want to help. Remember, very often pride can result in ones poverty. I would not be able to give much, but would feel that I did my part to help a family who also makes sacrifices for their childen.
