Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy this new tutorial on this super sellable product type! Note: My Canvas size is 1820 x 1214 because that works well with Creative Market which is where I sell my assets. Tag me on Instagram if you share yours so I can see it! @lizkohlerbrown
Yes! You can add a texture layer above the motif layer and clip it to your motif. If you'd like to learn more, you can check out my Texture and Depth in Patterns class: thestudiomembership.com/programs/texture-and-depth-in-pattern
Hi Liz is there anywhere where you show how you describe/ create the listing. I guess we can go find yours because I'm a bit confused about how to tell buyers what it is. And also do you tell buyers the graphics are for personal use only or for both commercial and personal. Also what should the average cost be?
Looking up successful sellers and comparing their listing descriptions and prices is always a best practice before you list your own. I suggest setting aside some time to research how others list items similar to yours and draft yours accordingly!
Hi Liz, Thank you so much for your wonderful teaching and transparency with sharing your process in so many areas of your business. I love your concise and relaxed teaching style. There are some really great patterns included with this creative market package. I'm curious about your decision process on choosing which patterns to package for Creative Market and how you handle a company wanting to license one that has been listed on creative market. I'm sure I'm missing something but all I could think of when you talked about someone using it on their products, was a company mass producing scarfs or bedding with one of your patterns for the low price of an extended commercial fee instead of negotiating a more lucrative licensing contract, that could include artist recognition, directly with you. Again thank you for all your wonderful teaching! You're the sole reason I downloaded and started working in Affinity Designer 😁
Hi Renee, So glad to hear you are enjoying my tutorials! Yes you can definitely license packs like these or individual elements from them. The fee you would charge would depend a lot on how it will be used and how many units they will print. I share all about my process for pricing for licencing inside my membership so you might consider joining us there (you can use a free trial here: www.lizkohlerbrown.com/link-in-profile-youtube/ ) to see more details. Side note: Minted licensed one of my fonts from Creative Market for their customizable invitations, so I know that companies big and small are searching on there! ~Liz
This is such a great video!! I’ve been wanting to sell on creative market / Etsy for so long but I didn’t have the confidence. This video has made the process a little less scary. So excited to be a new subscriber!
Hi Liz, Thanks for this video! I do sell SVGs more for crafters. I sell on Etsy as AKraftingAlleySVGs. But I do want to design more clip art and seamless patterns to sell.
Liz, would you do a longer length class for this subject? Also, do you include reuse these repeat patterns in your portfolio to pitch as well or do you create these patterns specifically for the clip art kit? And how come you decide to sell on Creative Market vs your Etsy shop?
Thank you Christin, I'll think about this as a bigger class for The Studio! I like Creative Market because it is considered the best resource for graphics and fonts so I think a lot of people are shopping there for those, but Etsy also works well!
Hellow liz, this is such great video❤. Do you have any suggestions for other applications from affinity designer, because I'm using a Samsung Galaxy tablet for now.
Loved your video. I have purchased files from creative market, but find the SVG files hard to import and retain the layers. I’m trying to import them into Illustrator and have tried various ways, but it seldom works out. It is refreshing that an artist shares their process with the details you have. Thank you!
Beautiful! Love your work. I was not aware of your channel; I already subscribed it. Now with the new home studio (saw this info in your last email) you can now create more often, and in silence. 😄
Liz, thanks this is a great video, but when I click thru, I can't seem find the link to the Everything Bagel Brush Set on that next page? can you please post it again?
@@LizKohlerBrown Hi Liz. I have the same issue. The link in the infobox is working. But on the site it says "enter your email below to get the brush set in your inbox". But there is no place to enter my email.

Thank you Liz, tutorial was very helpful. 🍒 Is it possible to showcase seamless patterns (which are in clipart set) in our portfolio at the same time? Thank you for your time 😍
I think that depends on what the goal of your portfolio is. Like who is it for and who are you selling to? I offer live critiques in my membership where I'd be happy to look at your work and talk through more details! ❤
thank you so much for this video. I like art nouveau andi may not neccessarily want to sell clipart sets but i want to learn also graphic design for my illustrations.
Thank you for this! However, the version of Capture I just downloaded does not have a save as/share as SVG option. What other conversion apps are people appreciating?
@@LizKohlerBrown Thank you for replying! I think I figured it out . . . When I saved within Capture, the app was defaulting to "Image" rather than to "shape," and from there I didn't have SVG as an export option. But I think I'm rolling, now. Sharing it here in case someone in future has the same issue.
Question :) Is it correct that when you sell the assets it is without the background we see in the video?? So there would be no background when they download it? Do you show them any images without the colored background in the listing you create? I love love love this subject and hope you will create a whole class in the studio soon.
Hi Chris! i upload both layered SVG files and transparent PNG files so they get both versions. I don't show the transparent version in the listing images though. You can see my whole listing via the link in the description if you'd like! ❤
@@LizKohlerBrown /aw very cool I looked at your listing, love it. So the SVG's assets come with the colored background? but the pngs are transparent ? I'm so interested in this subject!
Hi Liz, thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! I can't find the link to the book mentioned in the description of this video? Can you point me in the right direction?
@@LizKohlerBrown Hi Liz, I bought the book you linked right above here but those images are not part of the book. So I figure this is not the book you showed in your video. I would appreciate if you could provide the right link, please. Thanks in advance.
Hi Liz! Thank you for this video! I'm a bit confused on how you upload the images to sell on Creative Market. So you create a new file in Affinity with each image in its own group on the set image and export it as SVG but also have each individual image as a PNG file with a transparent background? Do you also have individual SVG files for each image or is it enough to have it in the overall SVG file that shows the whole set?
HI there! I know what you mean, this can be a complicated thing to figure out. The problem is that there is actually no "set way" of doing it, so everyone does it a bit differently. Personally I put each SVG on one page, then export each PNG separately. I think the most important thing is that you provide some sort of map or guidance to the buyer on how things are organized, so they understand your organization system easily!
What a wonderful video. I had to go back and replay the Adobe Capture section because I was in disbelief. This looks like it takes Image Trace out of the equation, which I've never successfully done. Does it really just in one click make a nice vector out of your Procreate files? If so, that's amazing!
So you essentially need three apps? Procreate (which I already have), Capture (just downloaded), but now a vector based app (like the Affintiy Designer you've shown) in order to make this all come together - am I understanding correctly? I only use Ps on my desktop, would I need Designer or Illustrator to complete the process?
Hi Liz - I purchased the book you linked to on Amazon, but it didn’t’ Have the reference images in the book shown in your video. Is it possible you were using a different book? I would love to track down the one shown in the video. Thank you!
Oh sorry I have a lot of different reference books so I get them mixed up! I think this was the 300 Art Nouveau Designs and Motifs in Full Color. I have a full list of all my art nouveau reference books inside my Art Nouveau class ❤

If you enjoy using Photoshop, you could easily bring the vectors into that program and create the PNG and SVG pages as I do in the video!
Why not doe these in Fresco or Affinity if youre going to vectors anyway?
I like the hand-drawn look I can achieve in Procreate, it suits the Art Nouveau style! You could create these entirely in Affinity, though!
