1. If it is a used car, do a thorough inspection of the body with a flashlight, you may find spots that need some attention.( I have worn paint under the door handles, because every time you open and close the door the paint abrades where the handle contacts the door itself. Also remove the rubber boot seal and check for rust, especially if you have a wagon)
2. Check the drainage spots, if they are full of leaves and junk.
3. Remove wheel arches, there can be a lot of dirt that holds moisture, so rust may appear easily.
4. Do all around anti rust treatment
5. Check all the fluids and change them if needed
