I'm similar in age with a starting body type/shape and weight as Carla. I am Muslim. I practice my faith. I'm a night owl but I've worked(and continue to work) to have a good morning routine (prayers, reading, sometimes suhoor if I'm fasting) and I also eat halal. I realized that as a person of faith, my body is a gift from God and I need to take care of it not just eat whatever I desire out of respect for not just myself but God, so I started strickly following Islamic practices of prayers and fasting last fall and I lost 15 pounds, then I added in walks (15-30 minutes either in the neighborhood in the morning or at a park or beach in the evening) and 10 more pounds slid off.... but I am ready to loose the rest of the weight so I started tracking calories (just to 2k to start, but I easily was having 3k prior to tracking), mindfully eating, and practicing abundance eating because of Carla and some of the free Body Slims info on the company website. These diet changes are huge...in less than a week I'm down three more pounds. My plan is reduce calories and up my activities everytime I get comfortable so I can avoid plateaus, God willing. I also am working to go to bed earlier to make my mornings easier so this was very helpful. Thank you for these videos Carla. They keep me motivated to show up, do the work, and achieve this goal, so I can take this weigh loss off my to-do list (as you've said in other videos ;-) ) Keep posting

You’re so right, and we very often forget that our amazing bodies are God-given vessels that we should give the greatest care to.

  • @lauriebartling579

It’s not necessarily “me first” it’s “me too” 😊❤. We’re often conditioned to feel selfish if we put ourselves first, and then by the time we’ve looked after everyone else we’re too knackered to fit our self-care in. There’s no way that getting up early before everyone else could be construed as selfish. It’s heroic. It’s inspirational. It’s setting a great example that you prioritize your self-care and it’s importance to the point that you’re willing to make sacrifices for it. Thanks for always keeping it real and for being such an inspiration. I discovered your channel recently (June 2023) and I love it. I love that you’re vegan too! That’s such a bonus ❤. Keep on keepin’ on, Carla.

⏰ That suggestion of negotiables and non-negotiables is super helpful. As a perfectionist who also has ADD, I often will get up at 5am but then wander sometimes wondering what to do as I now have some time. I think I want to make mine doing a 30 min workout and 30 mins of yoga before I get ready.
Getting ready for the day also makes me feel productive. So my hair, skincare, shower and makeup also matter to me. 🖤

When I wake up, I lie in bed for a couple mins and breathe and stretch and think about my day in a positive way- I get to walk with friends today, I get to go get healthy fruits and vegetables to feed my family etc. it really makes me want to get up

I’m also a morning person. I blame the Army for that 😳. Not really. I’ve always been that way. I never need an alarm clock, but i do set one as a backup on days when I have to be somewhere. And I have never used the snooze button. I also read somewhere that if you’re trying to lose weight, the process of the fat molecules breaking down, and leave your body while you are breathing, AND asleep! So, another good reason to make sleep a priority. ⏰🖤🖤🖤

Great tips, Carla! I love that it’s as much about an evening routine as it is a morning routine. So important for setting ourselves up for success. I also find that not drinking has had a huge positive impact on my morning routine! I’m much more productive and happy!❤

⏰⏰⏰ Hi Carla! I've been curious about your morning routine and how manage to fit in so many things. As you said, prioritization is key. I love how you start your morning routine the night before. I've been doing that for years and can't imagine any other way. I am so glad that you spent so much time talking about sleep, and sleep hygiene. This is one area where I still struggle. I love sunrise walks, and adjust my wake-up time so that I can get my walk in and see the sunrise. This goes against every piece of advice I'd heard about sleep hygiene, where they recommend a stable bedtime/wake up time, but I know that seeing the sunrise sets me up nicely for the day (plus there's now research about the effects the first hour of daylight has on our health). I never had trouble getting to sleep - it's the staying asleep that's the issue. I blame years of working night shift 😉If anything wakes me up at night, I am AWAKE, and can be for hours. How do you manage it with a little human in the house? Any trouble getting back to sleep, getting enough sleep, etc.?

Hi Carla! I really liked your video. I have to create better sleeping habits. Hopefully I can work on that. I started doing yoga and I am improving each time I try. I sometimes feel down when my friends don't seem to care about something new that is working for me. However, I am happier and I know that I am making better choices in my life. Take care! :)

I love your channel Carla!! You have definitely been a supporting actress in my 90 lb weightloss! I still have a long way to go, but I just wanted to ask one question: How do you manage your ADHD/how did you come to that diagnosis? I’d love to hear your story on this as I too struggle with ADHD mostly at work.

Hi Carla, fhanks for posting this ❤ I'm definitely not a morning person but im realising i kind of need to become one. I'm struggling to get my workouts in the evening with kids activities and dinner, cleaning up etc. I would like to get up 4 mornings a week at 6 to get my workout in so its not hanging over me all day. I rhink sometimes the thought of getting up early is worse rhan actually doing it, the mind is a powerful thing! Sending lots of love from a fellow dub 💙🩵

Game changer for making a commitment to getting INTENTIONAL activity in. I struggled w/ same after work responsibilities. I now get up at 330a so can get my 30 min in & not feel rushed & stressed before work. Then I don't feel bitter in the evenings after work if family life goes sideways & off plan. ❤🙏💪
