    Doctors need to listen to patients, order tests before it’s too late.

      Pancreatic cancer is a very cruel one. Symptoms nearly always appear when it is too late (stage 4/terminal).
      Also, let’s be honest who the hell thinks about cancer when you have diarrhoea.

      Right, pancreatic cancer snuck up on my dad and he was gone one month after being diagnosed. He was going to his regular doctor visits. I don't know how they missed it. I'm sure they weighed him every doctor visit, somehow they missed the sudden rapid weight loss.

    my stepdad died a pancreatic cancer. Here was his lifestyle first and the signs we all ignored second.
    He was doing lots of sport (even at the age of 72), eating early in the evening, very rarely eating carbs (actually, lots of bread, pasta, rice and the like, but no sweets), going to bed early at night and getting up early, eating very little vegetables and fruits (useless in his opinion), lots of processed meat (delis) and red meat (meat everyday, usually twice a day) and was growing tomatoes with pesticides, using butter and sunflower oil in food, drinking wine twice a day as we do in France.
    He always had high triglycerides (which he would decrease with pills) and it happened probably twice that his feet swole all of a sudden for no reason (he thought he had the "gout"), he never questionned his lifestyle a second though. He felt always "hangry" when it was time to eat. Like, he would *demand* his food served at a given notice, because he was "so sporty that he needed calories". I believe this is cue of a dysfunction. He couldn't operate without his food.
    He felt ill one day and we believed it was due to the heavy sun. He never came back from the hospital - he had a pancreatic cancer - died after 3 months in terrible pain.
    I'm sure it was reversible, had he wondered *why* he had high cholesterol and triglycerides to begin with...
    I don't wish it to my worst enemy.

    I'm Pancreatic Cancer Survivor! I did 6 mos chemo, then Whipple. I was diagnosed last year at only 36 yrs old. 2 hospitalizations in 6mos time frame of severe acute pancreatitis, then a trip to GI doc. By then, severe jaundice and pain.

      When did you know something was wrong? Did the doctors find it right away? Did they downplay it saying it was something else? Did u push? Advocate for yourself? I'm interested to know.

    • @mrszee-g9f
      @mrszee-g9f Год назад +9

      @JuanDiazSilvermyst when I went in for an ERCP after the 2 hospitalizations, bc there was no reason, someone my age and in hood health should be experiencing such severe pancreatitis, it was believed maybe some scar tissue from having my gall bladder out was the cause. But I was severely jaundice. The doc ended sending off a tissue sample for biopsy. Told me I was going to have another procedure, an EUS and IF something looked suspicious another biopsy would be done. A week and half later I went in for the EUS thinking nothing of it. Pathologist was in the operatory. I was told when I woke up. Completely blindsided. And my doctors as well. I'm their first case with a patient as young as me. Caught at stage 2. Currently NED.

    My dad went from 220 down to 120 in months, he was skin and bones, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014 and passed away in 2016, he was doing amazing on chemotherapy gained about 30 pounds, then the chemotherapy stopped working, switched his regime, was so sick on that. He fought until the end, I miss this man more then anything.

    My boyfriend was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer on 2022 July 1st, his doctor said without chemotherapy he only had 3 or 6 months to live.
    If he doesn't have chemotherapy, his life time may be 1 to 1 and a half years.
    He fought through 30 very difficult and painful chemotherapy treatments.
    And now the doctor says he only has 2 months to live...
