@@flexmusi You are lucky. Here in Balkans in some places, the last few years we had times when mid of December had temps of 28C and 4 days of snow if we are lucky outside of mountains the entire "Winter".

Pedro R alphabusa actually based himself also in the lutin episode were he explained the story of an orc who escaped Horus ,when Horus tried to save the emperor but when he came back the body of the orc was gone quite sad that this story is a short story in the emperor of mankind novel and not so famous sadly but yes it's pretty much confirmed that the first Beast was the one who survived against Horus

Lucifer Blacks are the human guard equivalent to a space marine, they have the best gear, the best training and gene enhancements, while still remaining "human". Custodes are like mini Primarchs so yea... I totally agree with your head canon.

@@evanlight2550 each custode is a unique, bespoke creation genetically engineered from infancy by the Emperor unlike the astartes who are mass produced and implanted with artificial organs from external sources. I'm pretty sure they still make new custodes based on the Emperor's original work but the process is totally different from making astartes and much more individually tailored to each custodes candidate. I'm not sure to what extent the Emperor's own DNA or soul essence is involved but I assume it's all directly from him and that there is no Primarch geneseed implantation involved because they're his greatest bodyguards and carry his will+authority and otherwise he'd be risking their betrayal if their Primarch turned against him.
IMO the fact that there are no psykers among the custodes is interesting though considering the Emperor is the most powerful psyker of all time and geneseed made directly from his DNA alone is used exclusively in the only chapter of space marines made up entirely of psykers(Grey Knights obv), that also boasts arguably the most powerful transhuman psykers in the whole Imperium.

You know what a Harlequin is right? And a shadowseer? They are the elite of their kind, hand picked by a God and devotes their love to battle. A shadowseer is even more insane then that. They could kill a couple custodians, custodians aren't immortal, they are just elite hand picked by a God devoting their life to battle. The stupid thing about that scene was why the harleys decided that was a good idea
The fact that Mars was able to reverse-engineer ork tech at all is impressive. Also shows that tech heresy is only a thing when what you make isn’t super badass and beneficial to humanity *cough* Cawl *cough*
I think it was because beast tech was way more advanced and actually functional compared to normal ork tek which is crude but can be used with the help of the waagh, like when yarrick had the mechanicus gut and re engineer his power klaw to be used by him.
The Mechanicus teleported Ullanor to another star system after the War of the Beast. There it was renamed.... Armageddon.

The Orks should get a PrimeOrk on their side one of these days, the Imperium has Gulliman and Chaos has their own Primarchs (despite not being much of a factor considering how often they get banished back to the Warp) and I can see a few being spawned after enough time fighting the Nids.
Or maybe that Krork from Trazyn the Infinite's collection could escape 🤔, an old school Krork from the war in heaven days. Like I could imagine him having a very similar reaction to the current state of his species to the one Guilliman had when he first woke up.

By all accounts Ghaz should be as powerful as the Emps babies but GW loves it's Imperium plot armor.

The real time evolution of the Orks relative to the strength of their WAAAAHG is such a great mechanic of the universe. I feel like Orks getting into the warp to enter an endless war with Chaos demons, should revert them back to Korks

I don’t thinks krorks can exist without something leading them. The old ones provided them with tech and a command structure, and once that was gone the in-fighting split the Krorks into clans/ tribes and that was the end because the Waaagh field wasn’t strong enough to maintain krorks.

I remember the first part of the war of the beast story was actually good up until vulkan dies/disappears. one of the most grimdark scenes was were it was revealed the orks were creating factory farms for humans and were taking out people's teeth and locking them naked in pens like cattle until they were slaughtered for meat and skin leather.
there was all sorts of new and juicy lore that wasn't really talked about before, like the first loyalist primarch coming back in after they all disapeared, how things were going so well for the imperium at that point in time they were considering defunding the astartes, the origin for lots of current stuff in the lore, etc.
War of the Beast is according to me a prime example of giving an author too much creative freedom.
Like, GW should made some guideliness, something like Codex Astartes, so that no author can’t suck off his favorite fraction like with the Ultramarines, or grind his least favorite (hated) to shit. Like they did with Imperial Fists, Eldar, Necrons, Tau, Orks. Chaos. You get what I mean.
Problem was that all the books were written at the same time
Siege of Terra is better because the next book is written after the previous one is complete

@@christiandauz3742 True, but they still made few things that people in general are not happy with, like Keeler herself, or Erda, or making Dorn create the Inqusition, or rise of the proto Eccysiarchy so early in the siege, or making Ollanius an immortal, or killing known, liked, or just characters we know are alive in the 41th millenium and bringing them back to life in some ridiculous fashion.
They are learning, but I think they are trying too hard to connect the M31 to the M41. These should be their own separate stories lines, or origin stories, not the prologues for the M41 characters to have a reference to.
And beside. Garviel killing Little Horus without even a short duel while he was trapped inside the palace was really so damn anticlimatic that I nearly stopped reading the whole thing.
I mean. The man was one of the Mournival. He was one of the best. They literally called him little Horus. I didn't even like him as a character and I still think they did him dirty.
Not to mention killing Kharn and Khan in Mortis, banishing Mortarion from the Siege and making Sigismund become a one punch man.
This whole Siege of Terra stops looking like a siege with each book and starts to turn into the Loyalist glorification propaganda movie.

Worth mentioning that Trazyn has an actual legit Krork in his vault, which I think he said was one of the smaller ones that were kicking about during the war in heaven.
This Krork was described as standing a foot over The Beast(s) in height and IIRC having even more advanced power armor. People think that Smart Orks would cause all their current equipment to malfunction and fall apart since it all works on the Orks not knowing that it shouldn't work, but The Beast seems to indicate that this is little to no issue compared to what they'd be able to start building instead.
Couldn't smart orks just make weapons that actually make sense and then buff those with their waaagh powers?
Like build an actual vehicle with proper tech and then make it red for a speed boost
I dunno how it is now in lore n books but i hate idea of waaagh literally making a metal box with pipe work just like a gun. Colors enhancing speed? That's cool. Ork constructing vehicle and waaagh makes it work even if some stuff isn't properly connected? All for it.
Guardsman making shooting noises while waving ammo less guns, and orkz are dying becos they believed they still had bullets? Fuck dat

Personal headcannon: There was 1 squad of Krork who got lost in the warp. Of these, only 8 survived. These 8 were the beasts.

Well, a hammer to the face can lead to peace.
Theory is, orks grow stronger by fighting and so their development is stunned by the challenge Galaxy provides. The reason they devolved from Krorks to orks is because since the War in Heavens they faced nothing that would even compare to the conflict they fought. Only appearance of the Emperor, primarchs and custodes caused collective ork psyche to manifest a couple of Krorks to face them
Imagine if they gave us enough visual lore (like actual models and shit) on top of all this and made a movie.

The War of the beast is just bad writing all around pre-desired narrative of an 'impending doom' and 'the situation is really dire' without adequate explanations and just really bad plots, and stupid decisions made by the factions and characters.

as far as i remember the sisters of silence suppressed the psycic abilities of the ork weirdboys and as soon as they die or retreat very fast the weirdboys regain their full psycic abilites too fast which affected all surrounding orks due to their connection through the warp/waagh-energy.

I always thought the Last Wall Protocol was pretty badass and a good response for a primarch that **never** liked the idea of splitting up his legion.
Side note, I'm like 100% sure that the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels has a roughly analogous contingency plan in place for the unforgiven (Not much of a stretch considering how close they all are). Looking forward to the First Host Protocol when the Lion makes his return 8).
The Ultramarines also have one. They brought back the entire chapter and all successors to assault the Night Lord's home planet outside the Astronimican
Any sane reasonable 1st Founding Chapter should have one, Guilliman just said that that amount of power should never unilaterally rest in the hands of one man, not that it shouldn't be able to be assembled. I mean sure, you could argue that a few dozen chapters working together under a single commander is no different from a legion, but those chapters would still have their own leadership structure and could chose to bail if they so wanted to, Last Wall Protocol be damned.
My head canon for the beast is that there were some Krorcs kept somewhere in stasis, perhaps even by the old ones that fled the milky way (before they probably kicked lf the tyranids) and that they were send to pave the way.
Or Trazyn had a big laugh and he originally had more than 1 Krorc in his collection
This makes me want to get the books after watching this. It sounds like a huge clusterfuck of a war but any war with orks is fun as hell.
It is possible that the harlequins who invaded the palace where a group of soltaires. Those guys are OP and if there where a squad of those it would be very hard to deal with

Could it be possible that the Beast is one of the Krorks that Trazyn has? You know finding a way to escape at some point, or because of some stasis Failures? Because it is even proven that some Necron Technology are known to Fail.

@@sebastianmaggart3878 Indeed, it Could be Possible that when Trazyn and his Dynasty woke up. The Tomb World needed a Reset, this could be possible by The Tomb world Waking up the in Stasis Necrons whilst Affecting some of those in Trazyn's Personal Collections.
The whole thing is so ridiculously stupid and stupidly ridiculous. "The Beast" apparently died like 3 or 4 times, each time coming back larger than before.
And that wasn't even the 'main' beast. The one Vulkan fought was said to be "about 10 meters tall", making it literally almost the size of a Krok. Then it grew bigger.
And then there were six more. One of them apparently even towering over the other beasts?
No. Impossible. The beast was smaller, Walker and not as intelligent as a Krork.
@@l.o.r.esci-fi4896 Or, you could simplify it even further and theorize that Orikan broke in and turned off the stasis generators just hoping it would wreck Trazyn’s other exhibits and piss him off. He probably had no idea what it was, and just saw it as a big monster that could cause some damage. But instead, it escaped. It’s not like he hasn’t done it before and it’s also not like their feud hasn’t already cost the lives of billions of people.
I had been lacking a massive cavern of lore for the war of the beast from when Arch stopped halfway in. Thank you so much for filling me in. I can also see why he stopped halfway in 😂. Keep up the great work Majorkill
I remember when Arch tried to do a lore series on this. He not so subtly rage quit after the Harlequins started killing Custodes.

It will never not be infuriating how some writers do the Custodes so dirty, you have on one end, a Custodes losing half his face and still fighting, and THEN you have some that make a unarmored chaos marine punch a hole through one and kill him.

2:45 honestly with those insectoids mentioned earlier on in the video, it kind of reminds of this idea of feeding a smaller tyranid fleet a whole bunch of xeno bug races the imperiums defeated before like the mega arachnids to see what happens. Still very curious as to why the beast showed up and if that shits ever gonna happen again!

you can tell how much the lore has changed since then with how easily everything in the imperium dies from custodes to chapter masters to even entire armies of elite forces/space marines in an instant
If the power level of the Orks scale with their enemy, it shouldn’t be that weird when during the great crusade that the imperium curb stomping almost everything that the orks would start to become more powerful.

I guess Trazyn's house of mysteries could explain where they came from. It wouldn't be a particularly good explanation but he has everything there, even a Krork.
Edit: Actually scratch that. The Imperium being almost taken down by due to collateral damage from him and Orikan fucking about could be funny as hell if written right.
Since you seem keen on head canon, I have always imagined my blood axes as having possessed a tad of the Brain Boy in them. Like if Caesar and his crew from Planet of the Apes were green
I like to go with its Trazyn fault one of his display pieces has malfunctioned and let out a set of if not Krorks then at least Prime Orks from just after the war in heaven ended but well before they fully devolved with even 10 dreadnought sized Orks running around the others would shape up of get stomped flat very easy to have a quick turn around in a might makes right society when your 8 foot taller than everyone else and probably stacking a metric ton of extra muscle.

This was the first series of warhammer I read honestly did not get anything about a primork from the book just sounded like a big ork in power armor lol best parts were the traitor marine chapters for sure
Rewatching this vid and the most ironic bit is that the only *real* imperial fists now are the original primaris delivery batch of them. That have been in storage this whole time
I haven't played 40K since version 2 in the 1990's...but I've always loved the setting more than any other fictional universe I know of. These videos are enjoyable, thanks for making them.

The Necrons have time displacement weapons, so perhaps to win the War in Heaven they just spammed a few Krork into the future and we ended up with the War of the Beast in 40K.
And yet how often do they use them? They either are rare, hard to use, or the Necrons are too stupid to make proper use of them.

"Gothic" in sense of "High Gothic" is the WH40K Counterpart to ancient roman Latin.
"Low Gothic" is therefor, in this comparison, more like modern italian, french or romanian.
But one might better think of High gothic as Latin at the peak of roman civilisation and Low Gothic as a successor language at the dark ages (at the beginning of the medieval age), when there were not even more commonly known words for a lot of the roman achievements, buildings, ideals, ideas and philosophies.

From the little I know, the lowliest krork is on par with a single primarch in power, and can boost the strength of all other orks. While cool, it would unfortunately destabilize the power balance in 40K.

My theory on how the primeork came to be, it started when an ork went into a paint factory where he fall into a big bucket of rainbow paint and thats how the primeork was born, and so as the bleak colours of many hive cities

Personally I think it would be most likely for an Ork to evolve back into a Krork through constant battle waged against the Tyranids. We already know from other 40k lore that Orks that survive battles get bigger stronger and more intelligent, and be have documented accounts where the Orks and Tyranids have engaged in all out war before with both sides becoming stronger from it. So in my mind it's not too far out of the realm of possibility that if Ghazghkull Thraka were to lead his WAAAGH! forces against a Hive fleet of Tyranids, it is a possibility that the constant battle of Orks and Tyranids could be the final catalyst needed for Ghazghkull Thraka to evolve to the stage of a Krork.
The second point to be made here is, whether the Krork were truly as bloodthirsty as one might expect. Now Imperial records regarding the era known as the Dark Age of Technology are scarce to say the least. But for us to have no information, logs or even rumors of humanity getting into any fights with Orks is a little strange to me. Of course there is always the possibility that humanity's technology was simply so advanced they had planetary fungicide that would simply eradicate all Ork spores and beings on a planet in seconds. However, there's also the possibility that the Krork still existed during the Dark Age of Technology, just likely very segmented as a civilization following the Enslaver plague, and had something of a diplomatic relationship with humanity during this era. We have seen the Orks show diplomatic efforts of a kind in the Beast saga where Grots would run around telling people to surrender, but in the context of the Orks this is a huge diplomatic stepping stone as compared to simply butchering everything without a care. So if we are to imagine that the Krork were to be significantly more developed both physically and mentally than even an Ork Warboss like Ghazghkull Thraka, and with military cunning on par with or surpassing the greatest Imperial strategists of the 42nd millenia, it's not too far a leap to imagine the Krork could believed in the idea of democracy or at least the formation of alliances when the situation called for it.

That’s a fair opinion, but Custodies are supposed to be like a Space Marine, TO a Space Marine. It would be like 50 Harlequins to one custodian, and even that would show the skill of the Eldar’s finest.
If it had showed them fending off custodies or maybe they are able to kill one through team work that would have been just as impressive without going against the established lore
@@ethanhall2655 No, Harlequins are the best eldar fighters with the possible exception of incubus. Death Jesters are better than custodes 1 on 1, not including solitaires or the Harlequins defending the black library.

I can help out with the War of the Beast since the author was basing his writing from ideas I originated. At the time the only available source material I had for the Custodes was the original Rogue Trader book Custodes were S4 T4 W2 with a 90% chance of turning up in mesh armour, 5% carapace armour and 5% power armour. Against that context the Harlequins' attack stands a better chance. Old profiles, old armour and the author that did the write up obviously didn't upgrade them.
I'm an ork player in the context of 40k and I was a bit sick of hearing and seeing overpowered Space Marines would just rock up and kill everything with barely a scratch. A little like the virus grenade wargear card from 2nd Edition that Games Workshop didn't playtest adequately and they have permission in White Dwarf for players to literally tear up. If you make a faction so overpowered it can just instakill most of it's opponents in armour they can barely breach what's the point in having a game. The killing off of the Imperial Fisted, sorry, fists was for two reasons the old Flame publishing book Space Marine had the Fists recruiting from Necromunda as a crusading chapter so they had to leave the walls of Terra at some point. I have always disliked their yellow armour too simply because it sticks out like a smacked thumb on just about any background you care to place it against. If you look at the history of the British army when they wore bright red overcoats they got sniped. A lot. Thus I kind of feel that they were asking for it, especially when you what the losses they would have taken during the Siege of Terra.
If I remember Ullanor rightly the Mechanicum scoured the planet before the triumph however that was just one planet in the system not the entire system and it was clearly on the Orks ' migration route. That's the thing about orks, even if you kill them all the spores will just repopulate and the tribes look to recruit wildmobz and they come back with more boyz. This was echoed in the idea of there being more than one beast.

We seem to forget that there were at least a few krocks around during the emperor's first great crusade. When he and Horus ran into several if them and Horus thought they were gonna kill the Emperor, before the emperor kame hame haaa'd the shit out of them and then tossed the core of the planet into the warp. Now THATS BEAST.

there was lots of cool shit in the series but I also way too much deus ex machina bullshit. I was just happy to see the xenos be a major threat for once instead of chaos for the 1000th time
