    If I sound nasally and potentially on the verge of death, it's because I am unfortunate enough to be allergic to Spring and it takes a couple days for the meds to kick in.
    In other news, I look great in that shirt.

      @@evanlight2550 each custode is a unique, bespoke creation genetically engineered from infancy by the Emperor unlike the astartes who are mass produced and implanted with artificial organs from external sources. I'm pretty sure they still make new custodes based on the Emperor's original work but the process is totally different from making astartes and much more individually tailored to each custodes candidate. I'm not sure to what extent the Emperor's own DNA or soul essence is involved but I assume it's all directly from him and that there is no Primarch geneseed implantation involved because they're his greatest bodyguards and carry his will+authority and otherwise he'd be risking their betrayal if their Primarch turned against him.
      IMO the fact that there are no psykers among the custodes is interesting though considering the Emperor is the most powerful psyker of all time and geneseed made directly from his DNA alone is used exclusively in the only chapter of space marines made up entirely of psykers(Grey Knights obv), that also boasts arguably the most powerful transhuman psykers in the whole Imperium.

They could kill a couple custodians, custodians aren't immortal, they are just elite hand picked by a God devoting their life to battle. They are learning, but I think they are trying too hard to connect the M31 to the M41. These should be their own separate stories lines, or origin stories, not the prologues for the M41 characters to have a reference to.
      And beside. Garviel killing Little Horus without even a short duel while he was trapped inside the palace was really so damn anticlimatic that I nearly stopped reading the whole thing.

    there was all sorts of new and juicy lore that wasn't really talked about before, like the first loyalist primarch coming back in after they all disapeared, how things were going so well for the imperium at that point in time they were considering defunding the astartes, the origin for lots of current stuff in the lore, etc.

    *Titanium Armour*
    Firstly, titanium armours can be spaced apart to increase the effectiveness at stopping bullets. And spacing the titanium sheets apart creates a cushion that slows the bullet before the titanium is penetrated. For example, a titanium shield can have a thin 1.2mm sheet of titanium over the front of the main shield plate. This 1.2mm sheet can have spacer lugs welded to it. Furthermore, a bullets force will be reduced on impact with a space of 1 centimetre inbetween two titanium sheets. And a 1.2mm sheet of titanium in front of the main shield plate would do this. Lastly, this titanium spaced armour has actually been demonstrated and tested to be effective on the American demolition ranches.
    Table#1 Types of Shields
    ------------------
    *Titanium backpack buckler*
    -40cm in diameter
    -4mm thick titanium
    -Weight 2.5kg including handle
    -If the 4mm of titanium is a high tensile strength and spaced correctly you will be able to stop 7.62 NATO and 50cal magnum rounds with this buckler.
    *Steel backpack buckler*
    -40cm in diameter
    -3.5mm thick steel
    -Weight 3.7kg including handle
    -If the 3.5mm of steel is a high tensile strength and spaced correctly you will be able to stop 5.56 NATO and 45cal magnum rounds with this buckler.
    *Titanium Tower Shield*
    -100cm×70cm in Area
    -3mm thick titanium
    -Weight 10kg including handle
    -If the 3mm of titanium is a high tensile strength and spaced correctly you will be able to stop 45cal magnum rounds and 5.56 NATO with this shield.
    *Titanium Shield*
    -50cm×70cm in Area
    -3mm thick titanium
    -Weight 5kg including handle
    -If the 3mm of titanium is a high tensile strength and spaced correctly you will be able to stop 45cal magnum rounds and 5.56 NATO with this shield.
    *Aluminium Shield*
    -50cm×70cm in Area
    -10mm thick Aluminium
    -Weight 10kg including handle
    -The tensile strength of aluminium varies a lot between regular aluminium and the 7000 series of aluminium. And that means you can make this shield just as effective as titanium.
    *Steel Shield*
    -50cm×70cm in Area
    -3.5mm thick steel
    -Weight 10kg including handle
    -If the 3.5mm of steel is a high tensile strength and spaced correctly you will be able to stop 45cal magnum rounds and 5.56 NATO with this shield.
    Next, you can use duct tape to assemble your brigandine armour plates. You can create a complete suit of brigandine that goes over the top of your jumper and jeans with duct tape. Furthermore, duct tape allows you to add bullet proof plates to all areas of your body. you can make any shape you like including the helmet without the requirement to weld or fabricate the metal. It looks like storm trooper armour when you are done. In addition, you can also keep just duct tape on a box of plates in your cupboard and nobody will suspect it is an armoured suit.
    Lastly, the perfect thickness for bullet proof brigandine plates is 3.0mm or 4mm titanium. And you just try and find the highest tensile strength titanium you can and just use that thickness. In addition, I have also decided that if you get a 1mm thick aluminium face size plate you can shape it in to a horror face and then bolt it to your titanium helmet. As a result, you can have a full set of bullet proof brigandine armour with a horror face helmet. That is going to be terrifying with swords and bowling ball cannons. Finally, if your metal tensile strength is high enough you will be able to deflect or even completely proof yourself against 7.62 NATO bullets.
    Table #2 Use of Formulas
    ------------
    s = tensile strength in pascals (Pa)
    F = force in newtons (N)
    A = cross-sectional area in (m²)
    m = bullet grain mass (kg)
    a = acceleration of bullet (m/s²)
    t = time of impact (seconds)
    v = velocity (m/s)
    *(m(v/t=a)=F)/s=A*
    9mm bullet Force = (m(v/t=a)=F)
    v/t=a
    (430m/s)/(0.0024s)=179,167m/s²
    ma=F
    (0.0075kg)(179,167)=1344N
    Aluminium tensile strength = 240MPa = 240000000Pa
    F/s=A
    (1344N)/(240000000)=5.6e-6m²
    5.6e-6m² = 0.0000056m2 = 0.056cm² = 5.6mm²
    Therefore, a 115 grain 9mm bullet traveling at 430m/s requires 5.6mm² of 240MPa Aluminium to block it.

    But one might better think of High gothic as Latin at the peak of roman civilisation and Low Gothic as a successor language at the dark ages (at the beginning of the medieval age), when there were not even more commonly known words for a lot of the roman achievements, buildings, ideals, ideas and philosophies.

    My theory on how the primeork came to be, it started when an ork went into a paint factory where he fall into a big bucket of rainbow paint and thats how the primeork was born, and so as the bleak colours of many hive cities

    Fuckin love Orcs. They are the least changed of all the factions from the very first edition of Warhammer 30K. They are the funny, OP, non-logical bolter waving unaffected by any culture changes

    It's crazy that they matched Vulcan in physical combat. He's the strongest primarch barring maybe Ferrus

    What I love/hate most about the war of the beast is that the Mechanicus was trying to study the ork battle moon to try and learn how they can teleport anywhere without using the warp and were stopped, literally they were trying to continue the emperors work of trying to find a new way of traveling without using the warp, and were told “knock it the fuck off now!”

    I mostly shut off my brain and tried to enjoy the series, but how dafuq did the Sisters of Silence survive and maintain their numbers while in seclusion for a few thousand years?

      there was lots of cool shit in the series but I also way too much deus ex machina bullshit. I was just happy to see the xenos be a major threat for once instead of chaos for the 1000th time
