I love the MT10, but i sold mine after a few months as i realised it was too fast for me. I wheelied it home on my first voyage on it riding it home in the driving rain whilst on 'soft power' mode, I wheelied it on the way to work, I wheelied it in 4th without trying, I wheelied more in that few months than I have in the last 10 years. I loved it, but it did flick my 'anxiety' switch sometimes. It could go scratching too, first bike i had in a while where the tyre was scrubbed off the edge just because I felt ok heeling it right over. It was brilliant fun, then i came home after a very fast ride one day, sat next to my little boy, gave him a hug then sold the bike.

It's like you're psychic or something, I was thinking of getting this bike vs getting the R1. I personally feel that anyone wants 95% of the speed, power, handling, and tech of the liter sport bikes but wants to be a little more comfortable and upright for the roads so you don't hurt your back and wrists. This bike might be a little more practical and actually a little quicker on the roads, at least under 120mph. Keep in mind where you do 99% of your riding, if you do more than 10 track days a year maybe an R1 would be better, I believe for every other situation the FZ/MT10 might be the one to get.
@@yammienoob Yeah, part of me agrees. Naked bikes in general used to gross me out, I don't know why. @@DrKampfpudding Yeah, those sport liter bikes are getting smaller and smaller, not a huge difference in size between 300 600 and 1000 sport bikes nowadays. I'm 6'2" with a big frame. As an early US adopter of one of these (mine still has the FZ-10 label on it) you get used to the throttle. The thing about the throttle is that it's not really snatchy as it's more just sensitive. On my F4i, after you take out the slack in the cable and give it a turn, there's a bit of a hesitation as it comes on as you roll the throttle. The new Yamaha electronic throttles are designed to simulate a quick turn throttle and the sensors in them don't have the lag of a linkage that works its way all the way down to the intake valves. It's an electric signal that immediately turns on and once you get used to this it's fine. It actually ends up making you much better at throttle control as I find myself capable of doing very fine input controls that I had used to think were impossible. This is in B mode and daily commuting on the bike. Also, the newer models went with the standard power mode configuration as the rest of the MT lineup. If the bike says FZ-10 on it then at latest, it's a 2017 model as the 2018+ models are all MT-10s and have the revised rider mode labels now. I went from an older 2006 R1 to the FZ-10 and love the FZ-10.
I've got a standard 2018 MT10 and just had a customer ECU remap with some Dyno work, which has ironed out the snatchy throttle response a 100%. The difference is night/day! They (yamaha) send them out of the factory running lean around 4k rpm which is where you spend most of the time around town. This is so the bike passes tough emission regs. Once this blip has been tuned out, its much much better. Mine measured 145bhp as stock and now 152bhp at the back wheel (standard exhaust) :)
I actually really love the headlights. Yamaha really needed to change things up a bit. It has been donning that singe triangular headlight since the days of the FZ6 all the way through to the MT-09 (FZ9 in the States) it was a good move in my books. Just wish I had the money to own one. I'm still very new to riding and have not long bought my XJ6n (FZ6 naked) I'm actually bored already :(

Great review sir ! I love the sound...yummylicious. lol. I just bought a pristine Suzuki b-king with 6000 miles on it. But I can see an Mt 10 in my future.
Rented out my bike for the first time on Twisted Road this last week after watching a Yammie vid. Guy totaled it. Their insurance is supposed to call me tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. I hope you got my back Yammie. Posting on this vid since I am looking at getting an MT-10 if the insurance does write my bike off. Tired of the Harley 1200 anyway. Love the vids!
My 2019 MT10 was absolutely hidious to ride until i bought a dynojet powervision and tuned it myself! I was able to completely wake the bike up, smooth out the throttle and its an absolute riot i love it!! Im 290lbs and i keep up with the super bikes all the time.. I dont outrun them but i can hang put it that way. And bro the bike looks sick in the front omg!! Oh and by the way, all 3 modes are the same exact horse power its simply a different throttle map meaning how much power you get based on throttle twist. If you pin it in all 3 modes you get a 100% power.
I dont know if anyone pointed this out but all the new yamaha bikes power modes go as follows (A. Sport mode, most power)(STD. standard linear power for mixed riding)(B. Tamed down, very gradual throttle response and very forgiving, good for new riders and hazardous weather.)
The gearing can be changed with a sprocket set from the R1. The little lookout that you mentioned taking a hike is West Speedway BLVD, I used to live on that road. As far as the looks go, I bought mine based on the fact that it's more usable around the city and hooning than a "sport bike". You get over the looks real fast when you own one. I'm currently working on something to resolve the "butterface".
A little bit of my soul left me, when you shortshifted through the gears at low revs. The quick shifter works better at high revs! Please have mechanical sympathy below 4K and use the goddam clutch 😂😂

Starts with a full tank, 3 hours later and godzillion miles finishes and the tank is still full. This is a hell eco-friendly bike!
He edited out the dozen or so fuel stops haha, the MT-10 will pass anything but a gas pump, it is notoriously short on range, just like its little bro the MT-09.
Great review sir ! I love the sound...yummylicious. lol. I just bought a pristine Suzuki b-king with 6000 miles on it. But I can see an Mt 10 in my future.
I love the look of the MT 10 .. looks stunning!
I've never even heard of this bike until a month ago, And now I want one.
By far one of the best looking bikes
Well... lol
Yammie Noob better looking than the Daytona 🤭
Love you Yammie
The throttle I describe as "artificially snatchy" because you can feel the electronics getting in their own way.
As a Tucsonan I really had fun watching you soak up the scenery
You’d love Mount Lemmon on a bicycle too. I hit 47mph on mine, nobody came up behind me the whole way down.
Funny you put this video up today. I was just casually browsing MT-10 details this morning. lol
The look grows on you. Had a couple compliments on my '20 mt10 @ Daytona Bikeweek this year. Thought that was weird...
nice bike review and even nicer scenary.... love your work bro...
If you come to Ohio for the AIM expo in October, you’ll be able to pick from a wide variety of bikes from Iron Pony
That looks a lot easier than when I rode my bicycle up there in 2017. Pretty spectacular road
I personally really like the decepticon look, i just got a 2020 mt-03 for my first bike
A little bit of my soul left me, when you shortshifted through the gears at low revs. The quick shifter works better at high revs! Please have mechanical sympathy below 4K and use the goddam clutch 😂😂
A riders paradise. Nice roads Yammie
I think the looks thing is a love it or hate it kinda thing. personally I love how it looks:)
I have a fz1. Want to upgrade to the mt10 next. Yamaha is the best
Nice ride, Squidster!!
MT10+Quick Shifter+Full System= Happiness/Megadank Nooners.
Im a transformers fan.its perfect looking.
Proud to see AZ enjoyed so
I do not normally comment and I am not disagreeing with you opinion, but I like it, I got the MT09 and I did never hear you say that others might have a different opinion but I don't like it
Mt Lemon. I was there about 5 years ago. May have been the best time I've had on a bike.
One of my favorite things about the mt10 are the looks. It looks mean and aggressive and big in comparison to the 09
Man I wish I had roads like that in Louisiana to ride... our flat roads suck balls haha. Our food is da bomb tho!
So you're saying if I too used Twisted Road, I could be enjoying amazing adventures like these with the click of a button?
Yeet
Yeeeeeeeeeet
I love mine. So easy to ride. Reliable. Solid. Looks amazing. All black. My only complaint is that the tank is good for 120 miles at best. Oh, and it gets 35mpg, which is less efficient than my Volvo estate...!
That bike rental idea is a winner....if you can pull it off right.
We’re trying!
Yammie do a z900 review...just like this one!
Infinitely prettier than any modern KTM naked bike, if you ask me.
I have a 08 fz1 but I want one of these just because of that wonderful music it makes!
Crossplane engine sound is to die for. Very good
6300 miles down on my 2021 mt10 i couldnt believe how much these ride after the ecu flash. thing absolutely rips im still trying to get wheelies down im getting there but jesus is it scary how brutal it can be at time
One of these days you need to test out an MV Agusta Brutale 800.
Hey dad, just thought I should let ya know I had my first date on Friday!🤘🏼
nice dude ! how did it go ?
Proud of you, keep it up
suvro sarkar it went friggin great
I love the bike and the looks it performs so well and can tour comfortably. Not ugly man if it was Italian everyone would be saying it has character.
Az's weather is dry (and safe for motorcycle riding) like this about 300-320 days a year. It really is a great place for motorcycling in general, regardless of whether you're a new or veteran rider. It just gets a little hot in the summer.
Faerodyn Moto I always end up moving back to AZ. Love this place.
@@paintup46 amen, brother! :-)
Awesome scenery. Great ride!
In The Netherlands the base MT-10 costs 16000 euro which is about 18000 dollar. The SP version here costs the equivalent of 21500 dollar
Awesome review video, made my mind about first bike, ty)
Just bought an MT-10 (16) can't wait!!! 🤪🤪
Great video!!!!$ Wow this video makes me want to get a mt
10 but since i dont own a bike probably will start on a mt 07
That video was so much fun to watch. Makes me want to get on my bike so bad!!!
The engine sounds fantastic but the hideous front end look is what keeps me from buying one! Great video!
Agreed. The bike looks amazing except for the Wall-E headlights. Yammie do more ride reviews! They're great.
17:00 i would choose this over a R1 any day...... i feel you bro!! When i bought my MT10 i rode a R1M and the MT10 back to back to choose witch one i wanted and for the road i was like GIMME THAT MT10!!!!
I have a 2017 FZ10 and I love it. Track, canyon, and city roads. The throttle is a little crazy but needs some getting used to. One I got used to it switched to B Mode.
