@@duckentity4515 You're both kind of right, these are all owned by WB, but a bunch of this stuff gets seen in non-WB productions. One of the reasons why WB is likely to remain in the long term is that they don't just make money from their own productions, they also make money from renting their props and facilities to other companies. It makes the WB studio tour so special as so much of it can pop up in any TV show or movie filmed in the US. For example, the scene in the original Jurassic Park movie of the T-Rex chasing the jeep was filmed there when a storm forced the production to leave Hawaii early.
About 1-2 years ago, I went to a car show in my area. Among other famous cars, was the armored batmobile from Batman V Superman. I have photos that I took with my family at this event and everything, and I just found it sooooooooo cool when this happened.
The WB prop rental house is the greatest. They also have THE best customer service and treat students, as well as seasoned pros, with equal respect. Love them to bits.
Take the tour, you won't necessarily see those, but you get to go through a portion of the props warehouse and there's a couple buildings worth of museums with other props. You may have noticed that the Batmobile from Batman Forever was missing, it was in the museum when I visited last summer next to the Batwing and one of the Bat Pods from the Nolan Batman movies. Also, the Mr. Freeze costume looks really impressive in person.
Harry Potter, LoTR, Hobbit, Batman, DCEU, Sherlock, Terminator, Star Trek, Matrix, Godzilla, Nolan, Friends, Big Bang theory...... So much cinematic history, preserved here
Yes, and I highly recommend anybody going to LA consider stopping by Burbank to take the tour. I had no idea just how much IP they own either completely or just in terms of the film rights. Being able to see a Bat Pod and then ride on a replica in front of a green screen was amazing. The photo opportunity to sit in a forced perspective mockup of a building from the Shire was also awesome. As banal as it may have been, getting a photo from replica sets from Friends and Big Bang Theory was kind of fun.
It would be so awesome to visit this archive! I could spend a week in there in awe just looking around. This would be this movie lover's dream! Too bad it's not open to the public.
Same! I've been researching the prop for ages and only just come across this. It's in amazing condition too, I was worried it would've been scrapped after the reception of the movie.
They have a museum. There's a bunch of stuff on display and I'm not really sure how much more they could put in their museum without having to expand. Given that it's in the middle of a working studio, they don't exactly have much to work with. Plus, this is just the archives. It's mostly stuff that can't be reused later on. There's an entire prop warehouse full of stuff that can be rented.
I've seen that exact Harley quinn outfit at NYC comic con a few years back, in huge glass box, as well as the current wonder woman outfit and the the original from back in the day. It was awesome.
@@troodon1096 Possibly, but when I was at the studio a couple months ago, they had the Batmobile from Batman Forever out of the warehouse and in their museum. There's also the issue of whether the Bat Pod counts as a Batmobile for similar reasons.
For 25 years, the entire archive was loaned to the Burbank Public Library’s main branch beginning in the mid 1970’s. The collection moved out of the second floor when the contract ended and WB moved it to remote storage, possibly to the nearby Warner Ranch facility. Unfortunately the Ranch was demolished over the last few months to be replaced by modern studio facilities (soundstage campus).
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that they took advantage of that time to do a full and complete audit of the facility to make sure that everything was where the system says it should be. Given how easy it is to socially distance while doing that and the drop in demand for use of the props.
When visiting Warner's Studio in 2018, I actually got lost in the part of the tour where you go through what i think it's a small section of that, and I ended up messing with a bunch of props, from a super nintendo to a baseball bat and there were bunches of other stuff there too, that I got to see, well, until my Dad came to pick me up so they could continue the tour.
