I heard years ago how shoddy moving companies were. They would move your things but then held everything hostage until you paid them an excessive amount of money. I can’t believe this is still happening. 🤬 Another thing you can do is go to the news station, most of them have a program to help citizens when these types of things happen to them. They got positive outcomes. I would start with the city you moved from. Good luck 👍🏻

Hey Ashley, I watch all your videos but don't comment. I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry you are dealing with all that! I'm in shock and I don't know how you did a voice over telling the story without crying. Omgosh. I've never heard of that happening to people before so I'm thankful for you sharing. You need to still hire a lawyer this is catfishing for people moving for sixteen thousand you could come pretty close to just replacing everything you own. I worked in retail management for 40 years they can do whatever they have to do to satisfy the customer I am so sorry this happened, I can’t even comprehend how to deal with that with children. Spend time with your family and create new memories take care and stay safe. I would get a lawyer on board don’t say a word to the company and take them for everything they have totally unacceptable love you guys prayers coming your way.❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t believe that happened, it’s insane! I feel angry for you.
We paid $12,500 AUD to ship our things from Europe to Australia. When it arrived here, we went through so much stress because of quarantine laws, our things were held in quarantine and each additional day brought up the cost. They charged us for cleaning a kids motorbike. Then they charged us for two moving trucks to bring everything to our door. I was gutted that the cost went up around another 3k. Most of our stuff arrived, but there were a couple of boxes missing. Some of our furniture was damaged and left to get wet in the rain. It was a horrible experience and I would never do it again. Prayers your way.
So sorry you are going through this. It’s stressful enough moving. You don’t need all of that on top of it! You need to Sue them. They need put in their place! Stop taking advantage of people! That just makes my blood boil. Go get em Ashley! Can’t wait to see VA.

First time ever commenting. We have a similar story. We called and had many conversations and list of all items. They said we did not even have to pack anything ourselves. Well when the movers got there it was a totally different company. They did a walk through and said we are movers not packers and if they used any of there own boxes we would have to pay for that. There was someone else’s stuff taking half the truck. The price was quoted initially the same as yours originally but came out to $16,000. So we had to run to Home Depot and buy boxes and moving supplies right then and start packing. We ended up having to rent a uhaul for the rest that could not be taken. Give away a bunch of things to neighbors and friends. They did not have room in there warehouse so we had to rent two storage units down in Florida after contacting multiple places to see if there were ones available. I had borrow money for all this. The movers actually felt bad that they started helping us pack boxes and squeezed as much as they could on the truck. I mean there was no more room at all. They drove the truck all the way down from sc to Florida over night and thankfully my mom was there when they arrived. I also contacted the sales lady as this had all occurred and she said never to call her again. What was I going to do. I had to move out that day because we sold our home. To top it off my second vehicle was totaled the day we were leaving which had my 2 year old in it at the time. Also I had a dog and cat plus a toddler with all this mess. I had never used a moving company before this and never will again. So we lost a total of $20,000 after everything with the moving company, moving supplies, uhaul. But my family is safe and we made it home back to family. We never did anything about the moving company in the end just did not want to spend anymore money fighting it. I am sorry to hear this about what you are going through and I hope and pray you get your things soon.
Ashley I’m so sorry that you had to go through all this. As a military wife who moved to MD from Ca and Back to CA this shouldn’t of happened. Just know you have a whole community here for you during this time.
This happens to so many people with moving companies. They do this on purpose. They will even hold your items hostage until you pay more.
I am so sorry for all your issues with this move!! But girl I have to say I am proud of you for not going through the phone to strangle the moving company...I would have lost my mind at 16,000.00. good luck im sending love and prayers for y'all!!!❤🙏🙏
I am so sorry this happened to you. We too were hijacked by a moving company and paid $15,000 for one truck. We could not afford anymore so we ended up selling most of the stuff in our garage and our outdoor furniture and grills. I cried a lot. It was a horrible experience. Your story is exactly the same as what we went through. The second time we moved, we used PODS. We loaded ourselves and the moved. It was so much better. We hired some guys to help unload the trucks once we arrived to our destination. It was a night and day difference.

Heard so many horror stories like this. Always get a written contract even if its by email followup. So many subcontracted cons. Makes small claims court easier. So sorry this happened to you. This is why so many people just leave their furniture and only take personal items. They rely on you panic signing things because its so short notice. Some companies hold items ransom until you pay more upon delivery. So sorry.

The moving story made me wanna cry. What awful people. My dad moved from Mass to Florida and he ended up just paying my bf to drive a big uhaul there and sold the stuff he didn't want. Moving is insanely stressful as is, but your situation would send me over the edge. I hope your things come soon, unbroken and nothing missing.

Give them a bad review letting ppl know what they did to you ! I have never seen anything like it if they quoted you a price and you had the biggest truck everything should of fit on that first truck now your waiting on your things I’m so sorry you all had to endure this.

New subscriber here! I am so sorry for your experience! How terrible. Something similar happened to my friend who only had an organ to move in town. He was charged twice the amount and kept the organ on the truck until he paid. I am moving too so I got a U-Haul and hired labor to load and unload. I control the time that way. Gosh I hope you get your items and then sue them !

How horrible and scary not knowing if or when your things will be delivered. Oh yes and when you call someone you get passed down the line again and again. We’ve had many military moves over the years and with the exception of a couple things our belongings were delivered,they even packed our trashcan full of trash LOL. This exact situation happened to me!! I’m so sorry it happened to you. They even suggested to me a pick up date one day earlier, so that I could hit my target delivery date…. Except it meant literally nothing because it still took 3 weeks to deliver. A lot of long distance moving “companies” are just brokers for other local companies. It’s absolutely insane, and I will never move this way again. I will only move long distance directly from A to B. Again, I’m sorry you had such a hard time!
I really don't understand how companies (like that) can take advantage of people. I'll be getting onto an ombudsman and taking it higher! The stress you guys are going through is not necessary. My thoughts, prayers and virtual hugs I send your way from the land downunder (Australia).

sorry to hear of this. happened to me moving out of texas almost 30 years ago. i guess some scams never change. lost a brand new tv and a dining table in that move. hope you get all your stuff ashley. shred them online if you don't.

Always get it in writing! Never take anyone's word. I have done many, military and civilian moves. Plus on the last move we purchased boxes from Walmart. The moving company said they preferred boxes half that size. They also used another carrier. I moved with friends, and will never do it again. I only use Bekins, they are the best! United Van Lines, packed a salad on the counter, not good. I had to many broken items with Mayflower. Bekins cost more, but you get what you pay for. I am so sorry about your losses and the amount of money you were charged.

Wow! I'm so sorry this is happening. Sadly, you have to treat everyone in any kind of business transaction as suspect. Speaking for myself, I trust no one. Many businesses think I'm a "female dog" (which I don't care) because I'm direct, brash, and no-nonsense. If I feel someone is bs-ing me I will tell them straight up and go in on them. I encourage you to not be so nice because scammers prey on that. Know your 💩 (or act like you do) so they think twice about pulling anything on you. Hey Ashley welcome to VA, so sorry to hear about your move here and how the moving company treated you all. We moved a container of furniture and other household things from Europe and it didn't cost no way near that. They for sure are taking advantage of you and should be investigated. I pray you get all your things intact. Hang in there! Can't wait to see the new house.
A friend of mine had same issues with her movers. Charged her way more than quoted. Furniture scratched and some busted.
We had a horrible experience with a moving coming too. We were told that our stuff would be delivered to our home and once we actually got there they wouldn’t deliver our stuff because we were a few miles outside there delivery area. My husband had to drive over 2 hrs away and rent a truck 3 times to get our stuff back.
So sorry this happened to you guys. So disgusting. I’m praying you get your things. Good thing you’ve documented this journey, as you’ve got ‘inventory’ of items should they not return. But, your things WILL arrive, so you won’t have to worry about that😉🙏🏼🙏🏼💜

Ashley, I'm so sorry! How incredibly difficult, depressing and I'm sure even feels devastating. Especially that you had to leave stuff behind on top of the exponentially higher cost you had to pay! I truly hope your husband's threat of getting a lawyer doesn't turn out to be empty. Please do get a good lawyer! Worst case scenario you pay the same amount of money you've been tricked out of by the moving company but instead of it going to them, it goes to legal aid. In that case the companies won't see the money (hopefully absolutely none!) And you'll get your stuff back, some justice and they won't have gotten away with taking advantage of your family. Nothing will get back your time and stress but there will be some form of justice. There has to be a way, especially because this, as you mentioned, is a known scam. I really hope you get all of your remaining stuff back. If not, I hope you'd have legal help with that as well. Seriously, I have such compassion for you guys right now. I hope you look back at this in some time when it's all over and done with with justice and relief in a sorted situation. ❤💔❤

We literally moved a couple of miles to a new house in the UK England. I didn't know but my partner had been paying for a large storage room for his furniture after he moved in with me. He had lots of personal paperwork in the filing cabinet. They charged an extra £550 over the money they already quoted him. They said it would cost extra for packing, for time to remove from the storage company, extra waiting time etc. Larger items of furniture were chipped, broken etc. If it was my furniture I would have been heartbroken. I'm so so sorry and angry for you.
Hi Ashley, i hope that you, and your family get better!!! I would sue that moving company, and take them to court, because i feel like they scammed you, and ripped you off!!! That makes me mad that they did that to you, and your family, and i hate companies that scam people. I wish that you would have rented a uhaul , and i know that it would have been more work, but it would have been cheaper, and at least you would have your stuff!!! I pray that you all get your stuff soon, and that they have you pay the original quote, and not what those guys told you. I’ve never moved cross country just within my state but this certainly reaffirms what me and my husband do which is pay for movers to load and unload while we supervise and rent the truck and drive it ourselves! That was just terrible and that price utterly ridiculous! Hope everything works out for you guys 🤞🏻and definitely share the name of the company!
I so badly wish we did that. That was the plan. But we decided to get some quotes just to see and compare. I wish we would of never did that 😭 just did it ourselves!!!

I had a company move us from Indiana to Alabama. They gave me a guaranteed quote. Read the fine print. The truck got to my new house and it was TWICE the price. They literally held my stuff hostage until I could get a certified bank check. I've moved cross country 4 times. Every time is cost more than they said or the wouldn't move some of it. We actually bought a box trailer to move some of our own stuff because it was cheaper.

I have heard people going through the exact same thing you are going through. Quotes not being accommodated, companies holding people's stuff hostage and people ending up suing the companies.

This exact scenario happened to my husband and I when we moved from Illinois to Florida. It took 45 days for our stuff to arrive. It was beyond horrible. I am so sorry this is happening to you all. It was a nightmare for us too.

Ashley, I’m so sorry you had a bad experience with moving. I know you had to spend a lot of money but thank God you were moving back to Virginia where your family is and they can offer you help and support and not away from them to Texas and you know no one. Praying for you and your family. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Omg you poor thing, this happened to my brother, as well, half his stuff was missing, he got some of someone elses stuff, they told him to file a claim which he did but nothing ever came of it, it's just disgusting. They probably think you sold your house and have all this abundant amount of money, so shady, I feel so bad for you, prayers to you🙏🤗❤
