    thank you very much for another great review! 👍
    I was hoping the last months that there would be a review from you for this great camera.
    I have upgraded from the Alpha 7R IVA to the A7R V half a year ago and I'm fascinated by the new AF-system, the great monitor, processing power, software upgrade and much more. 😃
    I love the A7R V in combination with the FE 2.8/24-70 GM II.
    But also Macro shooting for insects with the new AI system and the FE 2.8/90mm G OSS.

    Very accurate review. I upgraded from the R4 for a few reasons & am very happy with the camera. The ibis is excellent & for still images I have gone as low as almost a second. Lowlight seems better - EVF & screen are also much better. And also for video one can do handheld video at 4k60frames with active stabilization. Naturally for 8k there will be rolling shutter - one shoots 8k for detail and hence a still frame - its not meant for run and gun. It is the only real hybrid high definition FF camera with all the other tools

    I own a A7R5 with a Tamron 20-20, Im very happy with it. The only 2 things I wish I could is map my record button to the shutter button, and the other thing is have the same AF mode/opertaion in video and photo. In photo I can just put the green box over where I want to video and half depress the shutter button and it will track my subject, I can't do this in video so have to touch the screen to get focus.

      No, it is not.

    • @stavrosk.2868
      @stavrosk.2868 9 месяцев назад

      There is not one (1) lens in the world that can resolve 60mp on 35mm cameras. Not one. The maximum achieved with one or two of the absolute best lenses ever made is 47mp. With 60 mp your picture quality actually gets worse (smaller pixels).

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  9 месяцев назад

      @stavrosk.2868 Obviously. You will never get 61 “perception megapixels” out of any lens with a 61 MP sensor, but you won’t get 47 perception megapixels with 47 MP sensor either. The point is that you will still get significantly more resolution with 61 MP sensor.
      Modern lenses can actually work with even smaller pixels, as you can see in my lens reviews with 40 MP APS-C sensor.

  • @bradl2636
    @bradl2636 Год назад +3

    Unfortunately Sony doesn't support users with value enhancing firmware updates nor logical feature tiers. The A7CR for example has better video features than the A7Cii and that makes no sense to me.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +12

      Supporting users by releasing finished products that don't need significant FW updates is definitely a preferable option IMO, not many manufacturers do that nowadays. I wouldn't say that the A7C R has better video features.

    • @bijosn
      @bijosn Год назад +4

      True Sony doing too much segmentation, a lot of features in newer cameras could be provided in older ones with firmware upgrades but it’s not in their interest financially

    • @youuuuuuuuuuutube
      @youuuuuuuuuuutube Год назад +1

      Are you talking about the 4k60 crop on A7C2 at 1.5x vs A7CR at 1.2?
      That's because the A7C2 doesn't have enough pixels for pixel binning and get 4k, as it would require 8000 pixels wide, but it only has 7000 pixels, and because the readout speed is not good enough, it cannot do this, so it goes into crop mode. The A7CR has 9500px wide, so with a small crop, it becomes 8000px and then pixel binning makes it 4k, and pixel binning can be accomplished at twice the readout speed. See? It makes sense.

    • @youuuuuuuuuuutube
      @youuuuuuuuuuutube Год назад +3

      @@bijosnIt's all about resource allocation. It's easier to have the software team focus on new cameras, because there are only 3-4 new cameras per year. If the team had to focus on older cameras, then every year there would be more and more cameras to support so that software team would have to grow like crazy. With the current resources, that would mean that Sony would have to slow down the release of new cameras. Not sure that's what people want.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +9

      @bijosn Why would a user mind having more options? There is no such thing as "too much market segmentation" as long they can manage supply. FW updates are much more complicated topic than you might imagine.

  • @bangjoe7845
    @bangjoe7845 Год назад

    If Nikon's AF system is on par or slightly below Sony and Canon plus more available third party lenses for Z & RF mounts, then Sony will be in danger.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +10

      Canon has literally banned 3rd party RF lenses, Z-mount is not an open standard either, Nikon prefers rebranding Tamron lenses and putting markups on them, so Sony is perfectly safe in this regard.

  • @OkwyUgonweze
    @OkwyUgonweze Год назад

    I have this camera and the Nikon z8 and I can tell you the Nikon is a much better camera . From the feelings in the hands to ergonomics to rolling shutter performance to white balance accuracy and to color science , the Nikon trumps this camera .
    The Sony has a slightly better af but that advantage is cancelled out by no blackout in the Nikon for anything moving .

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  Год назад +5

      A7R V does not compete with Z8, it is not a better or worse camera. Nikon's latest camera in this category is still Z7 II. A7R V is a specialized high-res camera which just happens to have additional features such as 8K. Z8 is a high-speed camera with stacked sensor, meaning that it is faster, but it can't match A7R V's output. Z8 competes with A1 which has much faster read-out, lower rolling shutter and no blackout shooting. Sony's color science myths have been debunked many times.

      I can’t get over the mostly greenish faces of people from Sony followed by it’s yellow cast. It makes people look sick. It’s the only in your face thing that keeps me from buying Sony. Best colors to me 1 Nikon 2 Fujifilm and 3 Panasonic since their L2 Leika color cooperation.
      I am totally awaiting for Nikons A74 and A7R5, the Nikon Z6 mark 3 and the Nikon Z7 mark 3.
      If I could afford it I would buy the coming Fujifilm X-pro 4 as well. Coming from Fujifilm right now.
      However I will buy just one camera with only 2 of the most used lenses for me. Something light and ultrawide and one light with a bigger aperture but still wide.
      Oh and I prefer a good SOOC color, that endless fiddling with raw afterwards to me is like needing a cleaner right after the previous cleaner walked out of your appartement… it’s a half assed service or product to me!
