You got lucky installing it without deburring the pipe ends. 1st time I tried it, the burrs cut the O ring inside the fitting causing a leak. Good job ending up leak free!
Shark bites are AWESOME I just did my water softener pipes with 2 ft of new copper pipes and shark bite shut off valves and shark bite braided hoses working great Saw this video afterward great job I do the same thing I try to repair everything if I can.😂
Too late now, but you could have deburred (cleaned up) the cut ends of the copper pipe. The newly cut copper fragments are in there somewhere and they "could" mess with your O ring.
I hate those gate-style shut-off valves. I just went cuckoo cuckoo at my house putting those Sharkbite slip ball valves on all the pipes going to my upstairs plumbing. You can never have enough shut off's. I know that it's not always practical, but wouldn't it be nice to see that building code require a floor drain wherever there is a utility room or water heater to divert any potential floods?
I use shark bite fittings on occasion, one thought is that the existing compression valve probably only needed a 10 cent washer? I would suggest trying that first.
Someone will watch this video, which in most ways is quite good, and fail to debur the pipe. Should a leak develop, this person will start wailing that Shark Bite fittings are unreliable. I think that a correction should be made to this video.
They are designed to spin like that so you're in no danger of it spinning loose. If you want to keep it in place, a bit of silicone tape will do the trick.
I will still do videos involving home theater, speaker builds, etc... just have too many other things that are taking priority with the new house right now
NOPE! 1.) These Sharkbites can only handle a 2" gap between the pipes. Works for you since you have play in the pipes, but people need to know this. 2.) You must debur. You're going to have a leak when you're on vacation in 3 years.
Lol seems like something is always going on like that... but at least it was an easy fix. Cheat? Nah. It's not leaking anymore, so that's a win! I'd have to complete drain the lines (and tank) to sweat a line in. This was so much easier. Movies... I got the new Dune movie, it was... interesting. I need to get top gun actually, haven't seen it yet. You?
@@LifeofBliss To me Dune is the best movie since Ready Player One, I have watched Dune way more times. I'm a sucker for that soundtrack. Top Gun is a good follow up Movie...tho my expectations were too high especially after the 3 year wait.

That's what others have said... sorry you had that happen man. Did 2 that way and luckily no leaks
I just replaced a corroded valve after watching this video! First one! Thank you so much buddy!!!!
Hopefully you read the comments after watching the video to learn you should deburr the pipe before installing the sharkbite.
yours is the only one showing how to actually do this in a real life setting, thanks. I was looking to see how the measurements would be ,thanks

i wish you would deburr the copper pipe before inserting the valve

Kyle is such a handy man. Love that about him.
I've always been handsy... 😜

Should clean and deburr the copper first. They went on straight so you're probably fine but if you go on slightly on an angle it'll tear the O Ring
no pipe prepping????
Now if it leaked u would have 2 take it out ,and check the pipe ,(and is it OK to reuse it?)
As a permanent fix I would be nervous about it. As a quick fix, you can't beat it.
You're probably a plumber. Sharkbites make plumbers virtually obsolete.
thankyou for making this look easy..........
so I can do things I want to.........LOL......
Do they make a quarter inch one
You have to debur that pipe, that is the most important step you need to do

I installed 2 of these and though they work, they spin freely as if they are loose. Any suggestions on how to keep them "in place"?

Just to confirm, you're putting the slip end toward the supply side? Sharkbite doesn't really specify in their instructions.
I don't think that matters, but I'm not 100% sure
U forgot to ream the copper pipe. It is a must to deburr the copper pipe. I hope it won't leak on you.
Yea I did miss doing that... thankfully no leaks
No deburring required, nice clean cut with that disc blade tool.. same type tool to cut glass,, awesome job
@@topcat15191961 Besides deburring he didn't clean the pipe.
What happened to home theater videos?
I will still do videos involving home theater, speaker builds, etc... just have too many other things that are taking priority with the new house right now
@@LifeofBliss i understand
Should have cleaned the ends of your copper pipe with a piece of sand paper before inserting your shark bite cut off valve.
Nice

Life of extreme bliss I see...doh!
That SharkBite fittings are kind of cheating...no?
On a side note...and good movies in the last year?

I honestly need to go back and watch it again. Maybe I was tired or having a bad day or something lol. Most people really seem to like it
Used a radio shack ball valve to fix your water line in av terms. Call a plumber.
