Thanks! Oh my goodness. I was going to start intermittent fasting with my sister on 1 January today. I was looking for a second video to do when I came across this one and I watched it and I sat in my chair and I walked while this video played. Needless to say I wound up with a 60 minute walk altogether, it was awesome but more importantly I ordered five of these books. Excellent ! I’ve been working out with a personal trainer for 18mths. He’s focussed on strength training - insisting that I really need to maintain muscle and functional strength . He recently asked me to try and eat 30g of protein at eat meal. He’s a young sports scientist- but obviously knows about ageing bodies. Nice to have it confirmed he’s doing such a great job.
Thank you for this excellent video. You and your Mom’s questions are fantastic! I definitely need the ideas for eating more protein, so will order the book. Hopefully cholesterol does not go up. And thank you all for this podcast! I ordered the "reset" book. Looking forward to reading it cover to cover! The keto cookbooks I have will be helpful in listing the amount of protein in grams for each recipe. I love it when a recipe is broken down by carbs, protein, etc. I did notice a " shift" in my overall health after reaching 50. At first it was subtle, but slowly progressed with the decades. Both my sister and I are going to start a healthy diet and exercise program this spring. Keep making your wonderful, encouraging videos!

Thank you - Interesting, and integrates much of the other information about nutrition that I've been following. A couple of notes - if you are diabetic or sugar sensitive it's not actually fine to have a cookie, or pizza, even with adequate protein; the other is that surely he misspoke when he said keto has no protein - it's pretty much all protein, probably excessive amounts, based on his comments. I'm also curious how this advice might work for vegetarians or vegans - I hope this will be covered in his book.
How fantastic! I totally enjoyed this session! Both conversations gave me additional information, that I never knew! I did not know that almond milk nor oatmeal milk; had no protein! Thank you and I can't wait to buy this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! That's terrific! Happy you enjoyed the interview and are benefiting from the information! Knowledge is power! Keep it going and keep moving (and reading) with us! See you soon! ❤️
Sorry for the delay in replying. Here is the link to the AARP website which includes sites to order the book. I'm hoping one of them will ship to South Africa! www.aarp.org/entertainment/books/bookstore/health-food-cooking/info-2021/the-whole-body-reset.html Wishing you good health!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It does make you think about protein and how to get 25 or 30 grams at a meal! We are already thinking about breakfast tomorrow! Keep it going and keep moving with us! See you soon! ❤️
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It's interesting to learn how proteins are so important to building muscle! Also, we were surprised how little protein there is in Almond milk! So, there you go! Keep it going and keep moving with us! See you soon! ❤️
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Stephen's information does make you think about protein and its importance to your muscles especially as we get older. It's always good to learn about what we eat and its impact on our bodies! Food for thought! ❤️
That video was very informative Thanks April and Aiko 🙏🏻 I wish you had asked What would the vegetarians eat ? There’s very few protein options if u don’t eat meat I wonder if the book has any information about that Nevertheless I’m considering ordering the book
Hi there! Glad the video was helpful. The book briefly discusses vegetarian food options and notes that most of the recipes can easily be converted into vegetarian versions by substituting meat with tofu, tempeh, or other plant-based proteins.
This was a great interview April! I did buy this book and would like to try this approach. April, I just don't know what vanilla protein powder is the best one to get. There are so many out there, I have no idea what to get. Can you shed some light on this for me, thanks so much!
So happy the interview was helpful. I personally like unsweetened and unflavored powders with. the highest quality ingredients. I am also lactose intolerant so whey protein isolate powder is best for me. Here is one that I like: amzn.to/3JBtn5J It is not available until June.
Very interesting! Realized I was not getting enough protein and actually doing more harm by limiting calories. I'm 66 and can't get rid of the belly fat that I didn't have until after menopause. Going to order the book. Thanks for the workouts. Sometimes I keep up with you other times I'm doing your mom's moves. LOL
Thank you! It's always good to learn new health information! Protein and its importance to your muscles is nicely explained here! Happy you enjoy the workouts too! As a young 66yo it's important to keep moving and eating enough protein too! Keep it going and keep moving with us! See you soon! ❤️
Thank and hello to you in London! Sorry for the difficulty in finding the book where you are! We suggest trying Amazon.com or a link in the aarp.org website for "The Whole Body Reset!" Hope this helps! See you soon! ❤️
Thanks for slipping in that lactose intolerance question….I’m not satisfied with his answer though… not enough time given to questions about food intolerances such as allergies etc. I’m allergic to seafood, I have IBS and I’m lactose intolerant. And I’m 85 years old and I’ve gained 20 lbs in the last year….thanks to COVID-19. Guess you can’t help everyone. But I’m going to buy the book even though I resist sales pitches. Thanks 🙏
Hi Debbie! Please check out Stephen Perrine's thoughts about intermittent fasting at 22:46. He notes that eating during an 8 hour period -- breakfast at 10 am and last meal of the day at 6 pm may be fine.
According to the Whole Body Reset: " Protein timing -- eating protein in the proper amounts throughout the day -- triggers older bodies to spurn fat gain and hold on to lean muscle tissue. This approach, coupled with plenty of fiber, vitamins and minerals, and healthy fats, can help us reshape our bodies and lives." Each meal - breakfast, lunch, and dinner should include protein (25 g for women, 30 g for men) and at least 5 g of fiber. Exercise is important to keep you healthy and mobile including strengthening your cardiovascular system, building muscle mass, and improving your balance and flexibility.
The book notes that the Whole Body Reset was developed by AARP, tested by a panel of more than 100 AARP employees, and approved by an international board of doctors, nutritionists and fitness experts.
Thank you! That's terrific! It really comes down to individual choice! Yours seems to be working well for you as a young 73yo! Keep it going and keep moving with us! ❤️
Sharing, sharing, sharing! Common sense coupled with direct, science-based (not not boring!) answers instead of evasion. Thank you.

Thank You for sharing
You're very welcome. We love to help you get healthier and stronger!

Thanks April and Aiko 🙏🏻
I wish you had asked
What would the vegetarians eat ?
There’s very few protein options if u don’t eat meat
I wonder if the book has any information about that
Nevertheless I’m considering ordering the book
Eat the almonds. Program is very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed it! We are what we eat! ❤️
I just saw the video and bought the book today. May I ask if you had success with it? Have a great day, thanks! Paula in Utah
Is the book sold in Canada I can’t find it I live in London on
Thank and hello to you in London!
Thanks 🙏
Totally understand. Everyone is different and It's always important to check with your doctor before starting any new eating or exercise plan.
I am intermittent fasting in the morning. How would I work the protein in to start muscle building?
Hi Debbie! Please check out Stephen Perrine's thoughts about intermittent fasting at 22:46. He notes that eating during an 8 hour period -- breakfast at 10 am and last meal of the day at 6 pm may be fine.
For lactose intolerant people- you can find lactose free cottage cheese. It has 14 grams of protein per 1/2 cup.
Great to know! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤️
Sounds good but naps are good too!
Thank you! So true! Naps are pretty good and very useful! Keep moving with us! ❤️
Is he saying eat with protein & fiber every meal, bit exercise, and will lose weight ?
Excuse me, but on the keto diet you eat MOSTLY MEAT! I know, because I was on it and lost 40 lbs. and I am 73!
