@@Tony_Pesta It’s not that Dewey was killed off, it’s that the writers basically gave him the middle finger the entire movie and then killed him off. There’s nothing like taking a character loved by fans, turning him into a drunken, trailer park recluse and then having him killed off in the most idiotic way. If Scream 5 was a good movie, killing off Dewey wouldn’t be a huge issue. But it was incompetently written and hilariously executed so here we are...

I know Scream 3 is widely hated by the majority of Scream fans out there, but I quite like it, especially the Ghostface we get in it. Roman’s Ghostface felt like the most unstoppable and tactical one of the series. He literally took on 4 people at once in that bedroom scene at Milton’s mansion, pulled the rug out from under Tyson (literally lmao) when he tried to escape, managed to capture both Gale and Dewey, was the only killer that didnt need a slave or partner to do his work, was one of the only killers who was evenly matched against Sidney, and was responsible for the entire series taking place. he planned himself and executed the plans by himself.
if you locked all 9 ghosface killers from all 5 movies in a room and they all had a kill off to death to see who wins, roman would win by far.

Kevin Williamson recently came out in an interview and stated that his original plan for Scream 4 & 5, had Scream 4 been successful enough to spark a new trilogy, was that hospital scene was not supposed to exist. 4 would have ended with Jill getting away with it and Sid suffering some slight memory loss and not remembering that Jill had been the mastermind behind the kills. Then 5 would have been Jill and Kirby going off to college and Jill would receive a phone call from a new Ghostface who claimed to know what she had done in the film previous, starting a new chain of murders. Sort of Scream with some I Know What You Did Last Summer vibes. Unfortunately, I guess the studio hated the ending of Scream 4 and thought audiences would be upset if the movie ended on that cliffhanger and they never got to make 5, so they forced Craven and Williamson to tack on the hospital scene ending. I wish we would've got to see all that come to fruition though, that premise sounds sick

One of the underrated aspects of Billy’s physical traits, besides his intense eyes, was his tall, slender body. It gave him this intimidating aura about him, as he looked totally different to every other killer in the franchise.
For example, name any of the other male killers in the series - Stu, Mickey, Roman, Charlie and Richie. Outside of Stu thanks to his height and goofy expressions, every single one of them would be forgotten quite easily, because they don’t have any particularly strong physical features that separate them from the crowd.
Whereas Billy had this sleazy look about him that was unsettling, yet at the same time undeniably attractive. It was impossible to forget him because his face is so unique that he doesn’t look like anyone else you would meet on the street. Likewise, his body was stringy yet surprisingly masculine, which is a total contradiction but makes perfect sense when you see it.
It really was perfect casting, as Skeet’s physical look perfectly complimented Billy’s psychotic personality.

So much doesn't add up with Amber being the murderer of Dewey (hight-difference, way of killing (Amber is stabby-stab, not slice and dice, which is Stu's style), how GF talks to Dewey, her overall bodily abilities and capacities). Amber is such a tiny and not very strong girl. How could she overpower a trained former deputy, who was much taller and stronger than her? It makes more sense with it being Stu (same with the apartment scene in 6).
Also if the Cult-theory is true and Amber and Richie are part of said cult, it would make sense for her to take credit for Dewey's death. After all why would she reveal the Cult-leader, who is believed to be dead, to Sidney and Gale?

      How

  • @TheBigBadWolfO7
    @TheBigBadWolfO7 2 года назад +34

    1. Billy Loomis - Scariest Ghostface, used revenge as his motive and love for horror movies to try and pull it off. Being smart enough to stab himself to make it more convincing and had some great lines.
    2. Mickey Altieri - Crazy but calculating. Convincingly got close to Sid and her friend group. Had some great lines before and after his killer reveal and gives props to Billy on how good of a killer Billy was.
    3. Stu Macher - Crazy energy and sure a bit of a lap dog but easily the most entertaining killer and again many memorable lines both before and after his killer reveal.
    4. Mrs. Loomis - Great motivation and while she had her bat shit moments she planned the whole thing out very well not raising suspicion on herself and keeping tabs on all police findings, Sidney and Gale with her reporter cover.
    5. Richie Kirsch - Unique motivation and while perhaps not something one would kill over, one all movie fans can relate to.
Like with Billy seemed like the obvious killer from the start but also like Billy kept most second guessing that theory throughout. Decent killer reveal line to Sam.
    6. Jill Roberts - Brutal enough to kill her own mother, but wanting to kill Sidney and her friends just so she can get famous. Eh, I guess is ok for a motive. Was willing to injury herself to sell it like Billy and Stu, but overall came off less intimidating and more of just a self entitled brat.
    7. Roman Bridger - True the only solo killer (or so they say) but never bought for a minute a guy like Billy or Stu would take orders from such a whiny little bitch. No scenes with Sidney until his reveal and he really goes to Hollywood and becomes a rich and famous director just so he can lure his half sister whose life is pretty much that of a hermit out of hiding just so he can whine to her and then kill her?
    8. Charlie Walker - Pretty dull and boring character overall with pretty much a motivation of just wanting to please a girl he likes. Points for the most brutal kill in the movie and one of the entire franchise. Passable creepy vibe throughout most of the movie but seemed overly awkward and in over his head after his killer reveal.
    9. Amber Freeman - Barely a presence throughout the movie but that’s perhaps a blessing as whenever on screen she is extremely annoying. Easily the most disappointing of killer reveals as she was by far my least favorite character in the movie and while the Dewey kill was sad yet brave for the Dewey character it later becomes infuriating knowing that this lamest of Ghostface killers was the one that did it. The only satisfying part was seeing Sidney and Gale cook her and Tara shooting her.

I agree. We need Stu to return in Scream 7, revealed as the Mastermind behind 5 and 6, who killed Dewey (would fit with the highdifference and the way of killing) and attacked Gale. Would fill so many plotholes and give Stu time to shine (like he would have had in 3, if Collumbine hadn't happened).

    1. Billy Loomis🏆( The OG... The best motive of all the killers, quite possibly the most unhinged, daring, and knows his horror movie trivia😂)
    2. Stu ( The funniest and possibly the most entertaining movie serial killer..Also one of the OG's and had the best partner😂)
    3. Mickey ( Just a sick SOB that knows he's psycho and accepts it, but wants the fame for his kills and making his own movie😉)
    4. Jill (Probably the most surprising twist of them all. Especially given that she is Sid's cousin and social media attention was a sad and desperate but smart and interesting motive)
    5. Debbie(Billy's mom)-( Liked the Pamela Voorhees mother route they took, and it was a pretty unexpected twist.)
    6. Roman ( The only Ghostface killer to do it solo, so he has some bragging rights. Liked bullet proof vest and voice changer.
    7. Richie ( Really tried to convince us he wasn't the killer to the very end. Really liked the smart social commentary on toxic fandom.)
    8. Amber ( Kind of annoying but still had the toxic fandom message and got to kill Dewey😢)

I feel like I'm on an island with Roman being my favorite Ghostface. He truly feels like the mastermind and I found him to be quite sinister. My second favorite was Mrs. Loomis. She was just delightfully over-the-top and a real surprise. And I have to disagree with Cody about Mickey's motive because I actually thought it was kinda lame. And to a degree, I may be projecting my own thoughts here too much, but I feel the movie was even commenting on that when they had Mrs. Loomis say, "Mickey was a good boy, but can believe that whole blame the movies? Could you buy that for one second? Poor boy was completely out of his mind." Then she goes on to say, "My motive isn't as 90s ad Mickey's. Mine's just good old-fashioned revenge." I took that as the movie saying you don't have to always reinvent the wheel. Old-fashioned emotions of anger and revenge are often the best ones.
My top 2 are Roman and Mrs. Loomis and then it varies a lot. I will say the two killers from the recent one are def toward the bottom. Lol

And if she did Judy that was also a surprise stab. The way she killed dewy isn’t believable for anyone to do, u don’t just slice through bone lol. At least from what I saw she starts at the upper stomach and middle of the back and just slices up like there’s not gonna be rib cage and spine that would stop her from doing so. I would’ve preferred if she had just grabbed on with two hands, pulled the knife out a bit and slashed across the stomach, way more believable than what she ended up doing.

I have to say, I love the hospital scene in scream 4, and it’s for this reason- After Jill attacks sidney in her hospital room, right before Dewey comes in, Sidney tells jill that she’s never going to get away with it, to which Jill replies “Of course I will!”
Even though the hospital scene might suspend believe, Sidney is the one to call it out. There’s absolutely no way Jill could get away with it at this point, and yet she still thinks she can.

I also thought about it in the way just after seeing Olivia's death, that the killer knew what they were watching in Jill's room, thus I felt there definitely are two killers and someone tipped off the other killer. I didn't see Kirby being a killer and Jill's personality was a bit drier and gothic, similar to Billy's.

    10. Angelina -- You kinda have to be dead-last when your role as the co-killer of Scream 3 has to be gleaned from secondary material rather than from the film itself.
    9. Amber -- She suffers mainly from proving to be less interesting in her motivations than initially suggested. If her protective behavior over Tara had been somewhat genuine, she would be higher on the list, but instead, she has no unique motive.
    8. Mickey -- I really considered putting him last. He feels like a Xerox of Billy Loomis, but without the more personal motive. Out of all the possible suspects in Scream 2, he was one of the least-interesting choices. (Lousy rewrites...)
    7. Roman -- Everything about him was just a bit too contrived, and he was fairly forgettable before the reveal. But he was one of the most clever killers, so he has to get some credit.
    6. Charlie -- His big reveal was so good that it makes up for his shortcomings otherwise. His main weakness is that he is a little overshadowed by his fellow film nerds.
    5. Richie -- His motives weren't all that different from those seen in Scream 4. That said, he captured that incensed fanboy energy quite well, which gives him a slight edge over Charlie.
    4. Debbie -- Good old-fashioned revenge might not be the sort of meta-motive we expect from Scream killers, but the idea of a vengeful mother on a murder spree is a wonderful nod to Friday the 13th.
    3. Billy -- He's certainly the most intimidating villain of the series, but the details revealed in Scream 3 retroactively made his motives less compelling than they were when the first film existed on its own.
    2. Jill -- She has perhaps the best motive of any killer in the series, and she is wonderfully crazy. It's like the best of Billy and Stu in one character. That said, pure scenery-chewing has to win out in the end, and that goes to...
    1. Stu -- Few horror movie serial killers are as fun as Stu. 'Nuff said.

Most importantly, Jill (unlike all the others) wasn't crazy. She was evil. This girl had no problem murdering her own mother for the price of petty fame. She wasn't a mentally unbalanced psychopath, she was a psychologically calculating sociopath with no conscience. She was the Devil.

Hot take: amber is the most underrated ghost face.
She had the most kills in scream 5. She is the ghost face who kills Dewey for real. She is the ghost face who taught Sam & Tara the importance of going for the head. Her entire motive is that the idea of being a ghost face is fun. She isn’t a super fan like Richie but she isn’t too pressured into it like Stu or Mickey. She is just there cause she enjoys it. That is terrifying!

The only positive thing I can say about the TV series is with the first two seasons, the ghost face kills are more creative and inventive than the movies. So if you can find a kill comp, I'd suggest just watching that.

The show is not perfect but it’s entertaining. The core trio is solid, and the Movie Nerd character was the highlight of the show in terms of both writing and performance. The killers were mostly effective, Season One’s villain was surprising but not unbelievable and Season Two’s killer was a fitting conclusion to that character’s arc. The kills are mostly pretty good by the standards of an MTV show. Overall i would say it’s good enough to recommend to even a casual Scream fan, as long as you keep reasonable expectations

15:07 that exactly was initial Williamson's idea for a new trilogy as far as I know.
Producers said no, and Scream's 3 writer did some rewrites, probablyu the whole hospital scene.
As much as I like it, it would be great to have an open ending.
I have a feeling Radio Silence will now go this route

The character is so underdeveloped and not memorable in any way shape or form. He does have some of the best kills but we don't see Charlie in the Ghostface costume. Obviously the one where he kills the friend next door is one of the best kills of the franchise. I don't think Charlie killed Alison Brie. That was Jill. He does kill the cops. Honestly the body count isn't very high. Aside from that one brutal kill Charlie didn't really kill anyone.

If you go back and watch the movies, Roman is pretty much the only killer who maintains his strength, speed, and physicality once the mask comes off. Most of the time with these killers, once the mask comes off, it seems like they are not quite as fast or strong and a bit more clumsy than when they have the mask on. But not with Roman. The fight scene with him and Sidney is intense.
