Dustin, what do you think the odds are that Yamaha will switch from VaRTM fiberglass to nanoxcel for MY 22 or 23? Seems like they purposely built in some weight by going with VaRTM fiberglass with the initial version instead of nanoxcel or nanxcel2. This machine is already incredibly light for a mass production 4stroke standup . But they’ll be able to lighten it up even more with nanoxcel and sell more units all the while. Any thoughts ?
I'm upset I bought my 2018 and bpiped it. I so want this way more. Very happy man right now with what Yamaha brought us and honestly a seadoo fan. This is epic. Really is. Love it. Thank you so much Yamaha for not bringing us a sxr1500 barge. Mad respect. Yamaha fan I'm becoming and pushing my family and friends to.
my question is why would yami not try to compete with the sxr 1500?.. raceing is what sells skiis.. and the racers I talked with wont be going towards this one for the course...
Is the Hull SMC? Nano cell or Fiberglass infused. I am very excited to Buy one of these when they become more available like you said depending on where you live you couldn't purchasea new SJ since it was a two stroke. 2021 is probably sold out by now so maybe 2022 i will pick one up and move away from the 2 stroke.
Surf? This is specifically built for a buoy course in open water. Rickter, Krash, and the other AM hull manufacturers are in love with this because Yamaha just exited that market.
Everyone wants to trash Kawasaki for the SXR 1500 because it’s so big. Oh well, It’s also very powerful and fast. Maybe that’s not so good for the surf riders, I get it. Not everyone is into backflips and barrel rolls. I think Yamahas new ski is awesome!! There’s no reason to trash Kawasaki. They did invent and own the name Jet Ski. I love stand ups of any brand. I own 4 of them. Kawasaki and Yamaha. This pissing match between the two is dumb. Especially by Kommander. Kommander makes awesome race skis. They don’t even use a Kawasaki or Yamaha hull. Just their engines. In the end the Kawasaki engine is bigger and makes more HP. For racing, which is what Kommander specializes in, the Kawasaki is faster. Go ahead and talk smack about the Kawasaki. I’ll own both and have a great time riding all of them, enjoying the strength of each boat.😎
In racing, if you have more weight, you can cut through the chop created by other boats better. The weight only becomes a disadvantage when there’s not enough HP to overcome the weight. The Kawasaki engine has an extra cylinder/displacement over the new Yamaha. Even if you put forced induction on the Yamaha, just do the same to the Kawasaki and the Kawasaki wins.... in racing. For backflips and such, get a Super Jet!!! They are cool and I want one🤪
Kawi didn't invent the jet ski but they do own the name. This is like Ford vs Chevy. People are brand loyal to a fault. I love my SXR1100 but is it competitive today in Pro, nope. To compete at the highest level, it takes big bucks. Yamaha is after Joe Public and it is a good machine for that. Good platform and easily modified and 3 star compliant. To each his own.
Your killing me! More specs please? How heavy ! How long? How wide? How fast? Fuck the price just meet those demands. Killer looking ski for sure love the handle pole wish it came supercharged but I’m sure you guys will make it way sicker!
but sorry, I was hoping that after 30 years Yamaha would propose a new model for freestyle, but if one does not compete to go fast standing up then I take one with the seat, I have been using the jet ski since 1991 and this new one super jet I don't understand it doesn't make sense, the great thing about super jet was to do freestyle and with a bike of almost 200 kg you won't be able to do it anymore, too bad, I hope some of you can explain to me, thanks
Wow, awesome! Can’t wait to see the price. Not sure about that keel. Hope you can make some aftermarket parts to make it hookup like the GP1. I would love to get a hull like the GP1 and this looks pretty similar.
Nitpicking but Yamaha lists dry weight which is deceptive and silly because you have to have a battery, gas and fire extinguisher. Kawasakis will still be heavier but difference not as great when comparing apples to apples.
"It is definitely not a heavy, you know, sluggish, hard to move around ski." He wanted to say it but couldn't -- it's not the hog that the current Kawasaki SXR1500 is.
370lbs vs 550lbs. The SXR1500 is purpose built. Personally I think it is way too much power for a beginner. The 100hp Yami motor is 20 more than a stock 800SXR so pretty good out of the box. Dustin already knows how to turbo this motor for those that feel the need. At 370lbs, it is lighter than the 800SXR.
@@russembree7504 according to MFG specs the TR1 SJ is 5lbs lighter than the SXR800 when both are dry. The fact of the matter is with an FPP dry pipe and prop the SXR will absolutely smoke the SJ, and I'd be willing to bet it outhandles it as well. I guess we will see. It's no match for a modest (or stock, even) 1100 swap.
I live on a lake and I like jumping wakes making the nose stick up in the air and spin in circles and other shit but I do like speed, super jet or sxr1500?
Not a ski I would ever think about buying, i had a 760 a few year back it was crap, if have many skis including a hydro space and an Octane still the best ski is my Rickter1200
Another advertizer, not a review. The reason this thing is a behemoth is because they adapted to the clear air standards. He wont tell you the truth about that.

looks like a vaccuum cleaner to me
Hey Dustin, thanks for the info. I've watched you race in the 90s and you always rode so hard. Subscribed!
Picking up my 2023 tonight in 1.5 hours time, frothing!!

Great vídeo! The best video about the new Superjet!!! Tks
great first look, what an awesome ski !!!!!
It certainly will be interesting to see how this will affect the world of stand up skis. The r&d cycle for stand ups is very unique!
This new SJ appears to be going through the Stand Up community like a shock wave...I want to ride one bad!
Dustin, we assume you already have the turbo kit for it?
we had that 3 years ago
Finally the day has come

great content as always! cant wait to see what Kommander does to the new slat nose SJ.

Its a "Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding" (VARTM) Hull
So fiberglass lol
Cam Guy interesting process vacuum bagels I assume
@@codyswartz997 yup basically, Its yamaha's fancy term for 2 vacuum molds squeezing glass/resin in the middle.
Awesome! Any concerns/issues with water ingestion? Specifically when getting rolled in the surf?

mbrickner87 thanks! Just went to the Yamaha website. 375 lbs too, that’s great compared to the Kawi.

Yamaha, drumkits and basses, Kawasaki, jetski
I like it
Fun iswhen you can flip the watercraft, but without footholds is boring and could be dangerous
twenty more horses will make it real playful
