    Looks like Yamaha hit the mark with this ski, gen-Y never been on a stand up, this is exactly what I need this summer, ordered a pair for the wife and I. We're the target audience, and now i cant wait for November to go pick them up and drool until springtime.

    This new model should make the learning curve even shorter.

    So 3 years later finally was able to buy one in Washington state. A few additional points, the hood is lightweight to the point of being flimsy and and impact is going to crack it and I think it rattles a bit. The weight saving versus strength equation may be off. Rest of ski meets previous build quality. Second surprise is it leans in and starts carving a turn better than any previous standup I have ridden in stock form, and I have ridden all but the Kawasaki 1500. Disclaimer I do have aftermarket steering, but I am talking about hull characteristics, not the how quick the steering angle inputs are. I think it’s because the hull center section is about 3/4 inch deeper than previous superjet. Overall thumbs up for continuing legacy of standups.

Thanks mate for all you have given to us and the sport 🍺🍺🤙🤙🤙🤙was lucky enough to ride the 2021 Superjet recently as a stock setup, And then with a new intake scoop grate made by Wax Racing Products. Stock outta the box, the new 2021 SJ is a real awesome platform to start fromi, this beast has a shitload of potential.. I know Wax Racing is also working on the improved rideplate, but if the the grate is anything to go by, we are in for one hell of an awesome handling ski.!!!!!!! And all I can say is that , “The Future Looks Bright for the future of stand ups in not only Oz, but the World. Congrats Yamaha on an awesome ski

I heard the 2024 model on the show room has the same thing. Yamaha is saying it’s just cosmetic and won’t stand behind any of it. Thanks for your input.

    I don't like that they made it wider and bigger :-( . For me the old Superjet was perfect, if only they could fit a 4 stroke in the same hull. Well, I know I have to try it first to really be able to compare. But just the fact that it is bigger.. I don't like that at all.

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад +1

      It's not only larger to accommodate the TR-1 engine, but it had to meet USCG flotation regulations in order to pass all 50 states.

    Do a stand up shoot out. Super jet, SXR, proforce, gp1.

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад

      I super wish we could! Obviously, the factory stock SuperJet and SX-R aren't going to fare well against the ProForce and GP1, as those machines are super limited production, hand-built race skis that cost double if not triple the cost of Yamaha and Kawasaki's entries.

    • @connorparrish4182
      @connorparrish4182 3 года назад +1

      The Watercraft Journal I’m sure Dustin and Chris would be down for you to do a GP1 vs Proforce shootout. It would shed some light on the sport.

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад

      Unlikely that they would want both of their products featured in the same video. Equally, Yamaha and Kawasaki do not want their products lined up in a shootout - and maintaining our relationship with these manufacturers is more important for our future.

    • @connorparrish4182
      @connorparrish4182 3 года назад +1

      The Watercraft Journal every automotive channel/magazine does shootouts between different manufacturers products. Why do watercraft manufacturers not want that kind of exposure?

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад

      Probably because of 35 years of really bogus, super tainted, unscientific shootouts. The two shootouts that Jerry Gaddis and we did nearly ruined our relationships with Sea-Doo and Yamaha. So yeah, no shootouts for us. Sorry.

  • @Captndarty
    @Captndarty 3 года назад +1

    I don’t see why a standup really has to evolve much at all. Skidoo and Polaris are extremely successful with very efficient two-stroke twins why can’t those be implemented into a JetSki instead of a heavy four stroke?

    • @watercraftjournal
      @watercraftjournal  3 года назад

I own a Yamaha Wave Venture, a pair of Yamaha Wave Blasters and a Kawasaki JS440 stand up and none of the new sit downs interest me that much since I want a sit down that is light and flickable. For now, I guess I will stick with all my 2 strokes. That being said, this new Superjet would BLOW my 440 out of the water in every aspect.

      Yeah it’s a bit of a bummer. I think a new Wave Blaster 2 would be a great head to head with a SeaDoo Spark 2up. Sparks have been very successful but I wouldn’t buy them since the plastic looks cheap and rough after almost no usage.
