I was not familiar with this designer. These techniques are fantastic!! Love the zipper method and the bottom. I really appreciate when designers make the lining a smaller size than the exterior so that they fit appropriately. Very nice!! Thank you for showing this pouch!
@@tammyinwv1 actually, they will taper from where the lining meets the exterior. For example, if the seam allowance is 1/4” the top of the lining will start at that and increase to 3/8” - 1/2” depending on the design of the bag.
For sticky vinyl or faux leather, either put tissue paper over it, use a Teflon foot, or a walking foot. This will make things a lot easier and faster whilst keeping your stitches equal in length.
After all my mistakes I finished my pouch today and it came out amazing! I love this method and your video helped so much. I can't wait to make some more! Thank you ♥

Hey, Heather. I purchased a d downloaded the pattern. The pattern does not have any markings pertaining to the stop point for sewing in the zipper nor does it have the other mark on the bottom of the lining pieces. ??
@@HeatherMay-Hem there weren't any written instructions with the pdf pertaining to any measurements at all. There was only the pattern pieces and lining pieces....??

That looks like an interesting zipper technique, I'll have to try it. I noticed you used your walking foot with your Juki. Do you feel that it works well on your machine because I've heard negative comments about the Juki walking foot.
Just bought the pattern. on the supply list is 2 rolls of 12 "H x54"vinyl or canvas. I s this another supply .? I don't understand what is sold on a roll. Thanks for a great pattern
Some vinyl fabrics are sold as 12" x 54". That is enough to make the Small and Medium pouches but not the Large. So, if you want to make all three from the same fabric, you need 2 rolls. Rosemary (the designer)
Searched for that lovely herringbone vinyl outer fabric with no luck. The link takes you to a store front but it's a HOT MESS trying to locate any specific fabric. Very confusing website. Sadly it'll cost them in sales I'm sure. So I'm looking at making a similar bag with my currant fabrics on hand. I have quite a few lovely vinyls both solids and textured and clear prints. Many mix and match well together. But this fabric caught my eye and it's a fairly new listing or post so figured it would be easily found and available. Time is precious I've spent enough on it already. Nice well done tutorial but missed the photo of the packaging of the bag at the start. Maybe it's later on shown. I'm off to make my own with the few lovely hints shown here today. My older machine though I can add a walking foot and my industrial has one I rarely need a walking foot though it may help a lot of people sewing with vinyls. If you have issues with vinyl sticking to your feet try a teflon foot and or look to see if you can find a walking foot for your machine or if a generic would fit.

Perhaps the use of contrasting thread would have made it easier to see what you were doing. I've never seen this technique, but I would like to see more with a camera closer to catch the critical details.
I think a slightly longer stitch when you are sewing the lining and outer fabrics down would cause less need to push and pull. This is now more of a decorative stitch and does not need to be as close and is more attractive . I cannot see the size of the stitch only the drag of the machine. You did not mention stitch length .
This is probably off subject, but is there an easy way to connect a zipper and lining to a crocheted purse? I can attach the zipper to the lining, but getting the zipper to line up correctly on the purse is kicking my behind. Anyone have a good link to a painless method?

A Teflon foot will be very helpful for sticky faux leather if there is one available for this machine.

Cool zipper technique. You can probably use DST or staple the two zipper seams together and sew once vs twice.

You sure can as long as it is a top-zippered pouch. Just make sure to add at least 2" to the zipper length your pattern requires.

Teflon foot or a layer of tissue paper against the vinyl solves the stickiness.
Walking feet are expensive!

Hi!! These are from Amazon! If you search number 5 zipper tape a bunch will come up with pulls ❤️
I use my Teflon foot with all vinyl if not and pulls like yours did it messes up your stitch length
No it wasn't too bad thankfully! I usually always have my walking foot on but I had made something with canvas right before

Love this technique, but I don't understand how the zip remains closed at both ends once you attach the zipper pull?
Once you add the pull it rezips behind and you only pull the pull to the middle so the other end remains closed as well ♥️

I think a slightly longer stitch when you are sewing the lining and outer fabrics down would cause less need to push and pull. This is now more of a decorative stitch and does not need to be as close and is more attractive . I cannot see the size of the stitch only the drag of the machine. You did not mention stitch length .
It was the sticky vinyl and the foot i had on but on this machine the stitch length i was using was a 4 ❤️
This is probably off subject, but is there an easy way to connect a zipper and lining to a crocheted purse? I can attach the zipper to the lining, but getting the zipper to line up correctly on the purse is kicking my behind. Anyone have a good link to a painless method?
