- Tracy Chapman plays solo acoustic on March 20, 1988, at Donmar Warehouse in London, England. This might be a soundboard recording or just a very good, though somewhat tinny, audience recording. Natalie Merchant plays with Tracy on the last song, "Where The Soul Never Dies." "Behind The Wall" has been removed due to a copyright block by WMG.
This live concert is from my collection of music downloaded between 2005-2010 when I was a moderator at dimeadozen.org. Thanks to the original uploader.
Here are the original notes that came with the recording:

Tracy Chapman
Donmar Warehouse
London, England
March 20, 1988
solo acoustic show
I can't tell whether this is a radio broadcast or what. It's got very good sound. I got this in trade on cd. The pitch was fast, so I corrected it. I assume, because of the cut on For My Lover, that this was transferred from cassette.
Why?
Unknown track, (but I call it If I Ask You)
Across the lines
This time
Behind the wall (Removed due to copyright block on RUclips)
Baby can I hold you
Fast car
If not now
For my lover (beginning missing)
Born to fight
Mountains o' things
Talkin' bout a revolution
Be my baby(not released)
Where the soul never dies (w/Natalie Merchant, also not released)
Enjoy.
Matthew

Thank you so much for this. It is slowed down a little too much... Does anyone know if this is her first live show ever?
No it is not. I use to see her when I was at Tufts university. She played at coffee houses on campus and other place. This may have been one of her earlier shows after her record contract.
she was and is the voice of revolution, fast cars, anti war, brilliant voice and music, springtein eat your heart out
👍🤵👰🇧🇷⭐💋👏👏👏👏👏
Rare recording. Thanks for posting. Been looking for live stuff from '88. What a year for her. Anyone have demos from her WFMO radio recordings? Peace.

Thanks for posting this, beautiful! I was 15 in the UK and she was my first real music crush, what a summer in 1988!
Oh beautiful voice tracy chapman love ❤
Great voice. Love the 'Where the Soul Never Dies' duet at the end, with Natalie Merchant. Two of the finest voices in popular music and an ancient folk hymn. Beautiful.

Love this. Nice to hear Tracy's playful interaction with the audience.
