  • ► In this video, Joel Tadman tests the brand new Ping i59 iron and attempts to answer the question: Is this the best, most exciting golf club launch of 2021 so far? It replaces the iBlade, which was originally launched five years ago, and looks to have a very different design... but has the performance evolved too? That's what we wanted to discover when we tested it at Wellingborough Golf Club so be sure to watch right to the end to find out!

Hi, I am a 9 handicap, I have played 79 rounds with the I59’s. I play on a old course (1896). These irons are superb on turf interaction. If your swing is a sweep action (thin sole). These clubs are very forgiving for a 12 handicap or less

Thanks for an informative review. I like to see comparisons from old and new although it’s just a guide. Always look forward to your opinions.

They look good and I quite like the sound they make. Never had a set of Pings so may be on my list to try.

Ping makes nice looking irons, these look like the blueprints a little.

Cosmetically I think that they look stunning👍
I would be interested to hear from PING engineers why they have decided to used an aluminium core rather than going down the injected foam route. Being PING there will have to be an engineering and performance benefit/reason

You can totally see all the nike designs they got when they got the patents. They look like Nike Vapor Irons

Ping eye 2 had similar amount of grooves. I’ll hazard a guess that their performance and a comparison to the i59 would not justify their inflated price tag. They also actually look similar to the inesis 500 irons in my opinion. Not knocking them but they seem very expensive.

$259/ club… HARD NO BRO and no the surface that hits ball is not forged … forged word is now loosely used

To be honest, and being a Ping believer, I’m not really impressed with how they look. A bit too much like the iblade in my estimation. The club that has really impressed me this year is the zx7 and this isn’t even close. It’s a blade, albeit a cb, but it works in all categories. Pretty too.

You’re doing golf a disservice by ignoring the Elephant. £239 per club ? You may have to suck up to Ping but I don’t and I suspect many others will feel the same.

Different shafts? Negates your commentary mate.

Somewhat - but if I waited for the same shaft you'd still be waiting for the review! Components are scarce at the moment, hope you still found it useful. Joel
