Honda knows they needed to knock it out of the park with the latest generation Honda CR-V and after spending a full week with it, we found it to be the "safe" choice in the space. Nothing particularly wrong with the car, but not quite enough innovation that we expect from Honda. Hopefully, a mid-cycle refresh adds a few new features on the inside to make it stand out a bit more over rivals.
I just bought the Sport Hybrid, and I love it. It rides so smooth as nice as a Mercedes SUV. Also much better gas mileage than a non-hybrid. Also decent sound system.
It is crazy how refined it is. Incredible vehicle. Hey at some point I can swap heels with you, I have the sport touring and I rather have small wheels lol
@@AEOLIAHOfficial im debating this car vs toyota prius. toyota dealers are trying to charge me 5k - 10k above asking and that is just plain STUPID if they expect me to pay that...i would just donate that money to charity than put it into their pockets...so honda has some cars in stock?
Have owned my Sport Touring for a couple months now and absolutely love it. Test drove every single compact SUV on the market and it was really down to this one and the Rav 4. Reasons I deferred to the CRV: 1. At least where I live (Northern California) there is a 6+ month wait for the Rav 4. 2. XSE trim can easily be marked up 10K over msrp in NorCa before clear coat and basic ad ons (this becomes a 53K+ car before taxes and fees). 3. XSE really only offers the 360 camera and power mirrors as differentiators and the panoramic glass (which you pay for). 4. CRV is exponentially quieter, smoother, and better handling, its not even close, Rav 4 felt rickety and can hear everything. 5. Rav 4 feels much cheaper, inferior materials, type of plastics used, Bose speakers on the CRV are also clutch. 6. CRV is more spacious, 90 degree opening passenger doors are great. My conclusion was that if I was going to pay the premium for the decked out XSE I was better off getting a Lexus NX or Audi Q5, the all in prices are really not that different once you sign on the dotted line. CRV Sport Touring became both a practical and comfort based choice. I have had several strangers comment on my car (Urban Pearl Grey with the black gloss tires).
Agree with your 100%. Should have my Touring in a couple of weeks. The superior aspects of the Honda are so frequently dismissed, it's actually comical. IMHO, the Venza is far superior to the RAV, but can't get one for 9-10 months. I couldn't agree more with your points 3 and 4. I've owned BMW, and I'm trading an Audi. You know what they have in common with the CR-V Hybrid.... simple operation, driving experience, and quality feel.
I traded in my white 2023 Mercedes CLA250 for a white 2023 sport hybrid CR-V 4 days ago. I changed for practicality. So far, I’m loving it! I’m enjoying it more than I did my Mercedes and I’m saving money. Great job Honda! 👍🏾
Well.. if you want an overly critical review of this car, this is your channel. This car drives great, handles well, roomy, comfortable, reliable, looks good, tech is perfectly acceptable, and MPG is fine. Nobody that drives this car as a daily is going to complain.
I always have a Honda and a Toyota. Honda engine transmission and brakes are superior to a Toyota. But Honda decision making is infuriating. My Tacoma with a roof rack is a quieter and better ride than my Honda CRV. Cmon Honda.
Perfectly acceptable isn't good enough in a hot segment. Honda has previously rested on its laurels with other models and they've had to make emergency changes.
As an owner of a 23, I can’t agree with this review. This car is as refined as any luxury car I’ve ever driven. It’s remarkably more refined than the rav4. Why would you be revving a CRV in sport mode anyway? It’s incredibly smooth, quiet, and easy to drive long distances.
No ventilated seats, no fully digital gage cluster, no 360 camera, etc. Honda is offering less car for more money. Honda isn’t even above the industry average when it comes to reliability according to JD Power.
@BlueFL5 jd power isn't unbiased, bought and paid for reviews. They top rate Hyundai and Kia for "dependability" even though they've had 6 million vehicles recalled for risk of engine fire. I'd much rather listen to consumer reports and take the Honda.
@@ethany7708 I own a brand new 2023 Type R and have already had 3 major issues with it. At 8k miles I had to replace to the 2 front rotors because they were defective, which is unheard of. Honda is charging more money for less quality. Not to mention I have numerous rattles all over the car.
I believe the reason that the CRV hybrid is below the RAV4 hybrid in mpg is due to the fact that Honda uses a more conventional drivetrain for the rear wheels whereas the RAV4 uses two electric motors. TFL had conducted traction tests and found that Honda's system is superior to Toyota's. So for the added security of driving in snowy, icy conditions, I would choose the CRV. My son went from the CRV to the RAV4 for its better mileage, but does perfer the CRV's winter traction. In some situations, the RAV4's two rear electric motors could not do the job. Both are excellent vehicles. So really one's choice all depends on what priority you have. Better fuel milage or better overall traction in severe winter conditions. Based on his experience, and the TFL tests, and that I travel through the snow belt regions of Ontario Canada, I chose the CRV.
My mom and I bought the Sport Hybrid on 5/26/2023 at Hughes Honda in Warner Robins, Georgia. We traded in her 2012 Ford Fusion SE for it because it was having transmission issues and there was damage under the car. I absolutely love it. One feature I love is the black cloth interior of the car. The exterior color is called Canyon River Blue Metallic.
As a CRV hybrid sport owner I can say Honda have done a superb job. I think it rides so smooth and quite in normal or eco mode. I’m averaging 39 mpg combined. Honda nailed it. Solid build and resale value will beat their competitors.
Did you ever consider an full electric? How is Honda’s hybrid tech compared with Toyota’s? We know Toyota is market leader in hybrid reliability. Is Honda a sleeper ?
@@trump4america704I would say Honda has a solid hybrid system. They have been doing hybrid for a while too. Just hasn’t caught on as much as Toyota. But if I had to rate them; they have the 2nd best hybrid system.
No doubt the 2023 Honda CRV in Sport Touring Hybrid is a remarkable vehicle. As a "senior" adult, I find the comfort, convenience, performance, ergonomics and efficiency well suited for transportation needs. Everything works without fuss.
Thank you, Sofyan, for your outstanding reviews. I have always enjoyed watching them, however last month, due to a collision, I found myself needing a replacement car immediately. We purchased the CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring AWD after watching your reviews on many different vehicles. Your reviews were accurate and insightful. We went to the respective dealerships much more informed than otherwise we might have been. You touched on and answered virtually all of our questions, and being so much better informed really added positively to our purchasing experience. We love the CR-V and removed most of the obnoxious badging from the rear tailgate, and vastly improved its already otherwise excellent appearance! Keep up the great work. Best regards, Mike.
This gen of CRV would be perf if they had the full digital instrument cluster, included the overhead camera when parking, pano roof, and flat floor when folding down back seats like the previous gen.
Exactly. It seems like the 2023 CRV released in China had the full digital cluster and pano roof. Can't understand why they'd get it and not here in the US. But it does give me hope that maybe we'll get these features next year.
It does seem like there is a surprising amount of cost-cutting. You'd think they could offer those features and charge more for that trim/model. Given that both the current and previous-gen Accord (Touring) generally offer more features than this, I don't know how they get away with this with CR-V buyers. While the pano roof is not a must have, I think every other competitive top trim mainstream sedan or crossover I can think of offers ventilated seats and a few more variations of extras (pano roofs, HUDs, more color/trim options, etc.) than they are including here. I guess sedans are a more competitive market with the dedicated buyers sticking with/going back to sedans demanding more than crossovers which seem to sell themselves? It's still weird the discrepancy between the Accord and CR-V features. I would just expect them to have basically the same feature set trim for trim. With the CR-V, it seems they took every opportunity to simplify production since they've been having trouble producing enough cars in the last few years...at least for the US...
I appreciate the long list of options in the rav4 but it’s also overwhelming and the look of the rav4 is boring. I like the simplicity of the CRV options. Especially for a hybrid under $40k. Important features are standard. Just wish i could add in things like the pano sunroof.
I just bought my son a RAV4 XSE Hybrid. We looked extensively at the CR-V, but he preferred the RAV instead. It's really a tough call between the two, because they are both excellent cars. IMO, the RAV4 drives better, but I think the CR-V looks nicer. The CR-V has leather seats, and the RAV uses Softex (which isn't bad -- it's just not leather). The RAV gets slightly better gas mileage. He just filled the car up for the first time -- have $31.00 for a full tank of gas with a 502 mile range -- that is awesome! The seats, especially the driver's seat, is more comfortable in the CR-V. The RAV is quiet and has a lot of pep, where the CR-V sounds at times like it is struggling. I think it's just a matter of test driving them, and seeing which one you prefer. Unfortunately both brands have extremely limited inventory so they are marked up beyond MSRP and very difficult to get.
I test drove both and agree in that the CRV hybrid drives better but the RAV4 hybrid edges the CRV on exterior looks. However, I disagree on cabin noise and acceleration. My husband and I think the CRV hybrid sport touring trim is noticeably quieter than the RAV4. As for acceleration, both were very similar, but we found the RAV4 has a louder revving noise when accelerating to get onto the freeway or going up hills. Ultimately we thought the CRV hybrid ST was for us, but both are very good vehicles and you can't go wrong with either one.
I don’t understand how you still can’t get panoramic sunroof, 360 camera or ventilated seats in this CRV but in china you can get the same CRV with all of that plus a 3rd row and you can also get brown leather seats….
@@lionintu I get that but when Toyota has it on the rav4 and Camry, the Kia and Hyundai suvs have it as well as the luxury counterparts it’s not really an excuse. Besides Mazda I think it’s the only compact cuv without a panoramic roof
“No LED lighting in the cabin area” I think one thing you missed Sofian, is the little led lights from the overhead console that flood the centre tunnel area with a faint glow at night so you can see your cup holder, gear lever etc. such an underrated feature and one of those little things you appreciate once you notice it.
Agreed... I just got a Kona N and I never noticed how the rim of the cupholders had a really soft blue-white light around it until I drove it at night. Wished every car had it, to be honest.
Sure, as all the Rav4 fans are saying “but but, Rav4 has all these extra features”, why don’t you test drive both and tell us which one is more quieter and smoother to drive? Rav4’s cabin noise is way louder, and gets crazy loud while highway driving. I would choose a quieter car like CrV and would be willing to give up on “power folding mirror” or “digital rearview camera” all day long
@@davevolz6138 You don’t even need to whisper in a CRV. The other passenger knows what you are going to say without having to listen to your whisper. It’s quieter than Rav4. Lol
I own exactly the same trim 2023 CR-V as on this video, got mine among the first one's back in December 2022, and I got to say, that current Honda built quality has disappointed me. Paint coating of the inside portions of the doors is so poor, that I got corrosion in 4 months old car! This is unacceptable! Went to my local dealership to claim the warranty repairs. While they were fixing it, I've been curious and went on their lot to check a few brand new CR-V's for the same area, and unfortunately, same poor coating and uneven gaps on the hood/fenders area, the lift gate and side panels as well! And lastly, what the service department manager told me about those findings, shocked me! His words exactly " It's okay for the mass production vehicles" Previously, I had spent hours on the phone with the American Honda call center about this issue trying to get someone in the quality control management, but unfortunately they've said that there is no such one, so that's probably why Honda manufacturing going down in the quality I guess? So sad experience. Beware, and check on those things at the time of purchase!
@@k_alex80 I just noticed this on my wife's new CR-V recently! Assumed it was just an anomaly but I noticed it. It hasn't created an issue yet but reading your comment I will certainly keep a close eye. We've already taken it back to the dealer the first week due to a defective sun visor on the passenger side which would not stay up fully all of a sudden. Slightly disappointed in the lack of quality control with this one after coming out of our 2018 which had no issues.
I said this before, but I actually find it refreshing that the CR-V is actually trying to stay in its lane as a Honda and not trying to be a quasi-luxury vehicle at the upper trims like its competitors. My '23 Sport Hybrid (not Touring) is great. Incidentally, this was a replacement for my last car (2016 Mazda6) that was unfortunately totaled in a wreck. Ironically, my rental between the accident and purchasing the CR-V was actually a RAV4. Truth be told, I found it okay, but just felt a little too clunky and "trucky" for my liking. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it. I'm one of those people who cares more about how the car handles and how much space I have far more than I do about all of the bells and whistles, especially if they're just there for the sake of having bells and whistles. For me, the CR-V was simply smoother, more comfortable and peppier to me. And I agree that the "lack" of features compared to others in this segment probably has something to do with not stepping on Acura's toes, which I do believe has been an issue for Honda ever since they launched "Touring" and "Elite" trim levels under the Honda brand. I wouldn't be surprised if the next generation RDX moves to this platform and has all of the extras that the CR-V doesn't have, and include hybrid powertrains. I feel like this is akin to when VW de-contented a lot of their cars 10 years ago or so to draw a bigger line between VW and Audi. You have to remember that before then, you had top-trim Jettas selling for the same price as an Audi A4.
Now that you mention it, it does echo exactly what happened when VW started cost-cutting and Americanizing their cars, at least for the US and Canada. Prices did drop, but so did the quality and uniqueness as a mainstream, non-luxury brand. For Honda, I think that's why both the CR-V and especially the new Accord have been largely received by both the public and press as relatively lackluster and generic. Are they as dreadful as some people are saying they are? Of course not. But Honda, despite being practical cars, often offered something balanced with a good mix of sleek timeless styling and slightly sportier driving dynamics. Admittedly, part of the boring factor to the Honda fleet might be that people (unfairly) compare all their efficient and practical cars/trims to how good recent Civic Type Rs and Honda Accord 2.0Ts have been. Still, I've always liked how simple buying a Honda was with a relatively straightforward and easy-to-understand trim/pricing structure. But it's hard when Toyota, Mazda, and others offer so many more ways to customize the features and appearance of your vehicle...
I feel like the age of Japanese brands doing the bare minimum with a redesign and no caring about it are coming to an end. A rebuttal to something lackluster from Toyota, Honda, or Nissan would always be "Who cares? It will be reliable." But now, it seems that matters less, and we're only focused on features and tech.
@@davevolz6138 well of course the x3 drives better. You’d expect that. It’s a different kind of level over the CRV Although the fact that you mentioned x3 and CRV in the same sentence shows how good the CRV really is
not willing to take the risk of cars that haven’t proven themselves in terms of long lasting reliability. even if they have more ‘nice to have’ features
Sounds like some unfortunate cost cutting going on in the new CRV. That being said I am sure Honda will still sell a bunch of these as they are efficient and have great space for people and stuff.
That's been my impression of Honda recently--trying to push sales to Acura. Really don't like it and it's really turning me off the brand (even though I really want to support them).

I don't get the sunroof thing. I've had them since 1991 on various cars. They are a pretty useless expense, IMO. The most common use I see being made of them is kids waving from them as a flex, which is probably meaningful if you are a newly licensed kid driver. Yes, I am an old. For $1000, I'd prefer ventilated seats, power folding side mirrors, remote start and the old Honda key fob feature of holding down the unlock button after a second press to roll down all 4 windows. Very good for quicker cooling in summer.
Where I'm from, having a sunroof/panoramic roof means that you're not driving a poverty spec model. I love them. All the cars I ever owned has sunroofs.
Don't be fooled, the fact that the engine is on doesn't mean that it's dishing any power to the wheels, at slower speeds the e motor is doing all the driving! The gas engine takes over at higher speeds or under full acceleration when you brake torque it that's why it gets buzzy. If you drive it enough, you quickly find out that the engine is doing its own thing to maintain charge regardless of acceleration or mode. BTW despite the name. there is no CVT at all! It's a 2 mode hybrid.
Just purchased a ‘24 CRV Sport Touring model, traded in a ‘22 Acura MDX Advance Model. The Acura while more comfortable, the advantage of the V6 motor, ELS Sound System, HUD, etc. the reliability and convenience of the Honda is second to none. Yes, it may not be as exciting and the class of vehicle is completely different; the Acura was unreliable with bad designed brake system, having replaced front brake calipers and needing to replace rear on 38K highway miles. Horrible. Appreciate the simplicity of the Honda and looking forward to many years of comfortable ownership.
Everyones saying its best to drive this car in normal mode. B drive in stop and go traffic/Eco mode if you're cruising on the highway with minimal acceleration aka cruise control. Since we got the car the mileage on a full tanks keeps getting higher. Were at 1500 miles currently and get 470 miles to a full tank.
I think the ride, handling, interior design and comfort of the CRV is better than the RAV4. As for the hybrid system, the RAV4 is better off the line and slightly more fuel efficient, but the CRV is more refined and quieter. Although the RAV4 is better looking I would pick the CRV hybrid over it.
I an really confused as to why Honda isn't giving the consumers a lot of options, for instance, its biggest competitor the RAV4, offers a pano roof, heated and cooled seats fully digital gauge cluster, bigger infotainment and more interior colour options, and so do most of the other competition if not all
The RAV 4 hybrid powertrain is a little more thrifty than the Honda's as it has always been. In every other category the Honda wins hands down. More space, better handling, better braking better, interior design, etc, etc. In my book, they are not even close.
@@davevolz6138 I have not driven the hybrid RAv4, the regular RAV is slower than the CRV hybrid and pretty unsatisfying all around. Cost cutting of that model is glaringly obvious.
I take pictures every morning. Country and city driving. I get 44.0 MPG. I, admit to driving slow, not to miss good pictures. The reason, I bought the 2023 Hybrid CRV, is the AWD system, I thought it the best. My 2018 RAV-4, was horrible in the snow. Couldn't get out of its own way. No one mentioned that on RUclips, before I bought the RAV-4. Living in North Dakota and my biggest hassle is snow. I now do not trust Toyota Fan Boys reviews.
I’ve been a Honda/Acura owner since 2004. Not many vehicles available in SW Florida since the hurricane. I went with the Toyota Venza Limited, it has many amenities but a big issue for me was it has a spare tire. I am averaging 41.2 MPG so far.
I really liked the Venza. Great all around vehicle, especially when comparing the quality and price points. One of the reasons we did not get the Venza is because Toyota is discontinuing it after this year. Otherwise, it may have one the battle.
I just bought it and its too good. Drive is very smooth and no noise. Its good for families with kids. Whats the use of Rav4 if you have to wait for a year to get one.. its not worth a wait. CRV is smooth and quiet. You will easily get one in a month
Honestly this CRV is missing way too much. What did they think, that offering more Hybrid powertrains would win over more customers? After seeing what the latest model Tucson brought to the table, and now the redesigned Sportage upped the game for the segment as well. The RAV4 still looks good, offers plenty of trims and more powertrain options, and the new one is possibly coming out next year. The redesign Tucson is probably not far away either, heck even the Rogue offers plenty more, this CRV already is way behind the competition and it just came out. Also Honda really need to work on their taillights design, the CRV rear lights aren’t original and look like Volvos as many have pointed out, same with the pilot lights, shape is nice but an incandescent design with incandescent bulbs on upper trims is completely unacceptable and incandescent cabin lights too 🤦🏻♂️ I think Honda focused so much on the Type R, Accord and Pilot, that they seemed to have forgotten about the CRV and skipped a ton of features that it should have offered.
Just traded in a 2022 and can say it's worth it, on many levels. I purposely kept the miles off the old CRV and waited until the full reviews were in. Only complaints are : why no fog lights? No garage door opener. Would've liked to see more storage worked on. Shouldve put a well in the trunk for additional storage. Lastly, would've been great to see an additional 10 to 15 horses on the engine. Outside of that, the car is top notch in Almost all the other areas
I’m debating between this , the rav 4, and Kia sportage hybrids. Crv doesn’t offer enough features for the the price. The rav 4 wait time is about 6 months, and Kia sportage reliability might be a lil iffy.
The RAV4 will be more expensive than the CRV with the few extra bells and whistles people complain the honda is missing. RAV4 offers the option, but at a cost. On the flip side, the CRV is a smoother ride and quieter if you get the sport touring trim.
I love my 23 CR-V Sport. All the jazz with “360 camera, pano roof etc” not everyone wants all that extra shit. Looks better than the rav and drives better.
Exactly. We have sun roofs in all our vehicles and I almost never use them. I sure don't need a panoramic view for my non-existent backseat passengers to enjoy. I almost never use the back-up camera. Don't need another version of it that I won't use. Cooled seats? Never had them. Perhaps I don't know how much I'm missing, but I doubt it. But what I do enjoy, and use, is how spacious and smooth the '23 Sport Touring is.
Oh and fog lights! I forgot about those. Haven't used my damn fog lights in a 5 years. But maybe that's just because I don't drive around with them on when they aren't needed. :o
@@johnchow9552 Is providing a super-smooth driving experience a feature? Many (all?) think that it is. What price do you put on that? How do you think this CR-V got so smooth? We can be reasonably sure It sure wasn't by cost-cutting. Most likely, it got that way through more investment in areas that can't be readily identified the way fog lights, cooling seats, and extra roof glass can.
Ive been in Hondas since I was a baby..my mother was driving Civics before I was born. She drives a Kia Optima these days and doesnt like anythig Honda makes. She's owned Civics, Accords, Passports and Odysseys. She has no interest in any new Hondas. I've owned a CR-V Touring (19), Accord Sport 2.0t 6MT (19), 07 Accord EX-L (6MT) and I actually inheirited a 1991 Accord EX from my grandmother when she passed away years. There isn't one Honda I would consider buying today. The new Accord is dull as dishwater, the Civic is decent but not alll that innovative or exciting until you move up to the Type R, they robbed the SI of content (adjustable dampers, heated seats, dual zone climate control and fog lights) so the Integra could feel special. All of them are underequipped compared to the competiton, they took the 2.0t from the Accord, took siriusXM out of all the Accords, no rear AC vents on the Accord unless you get an EX-L or Touring. CR-V/Accord lack pano roofs, 360 cameras. The poor pilot has a 9 inch touch screen as an 'upgrade' while the bottom two trims make due with a 7 inch screen when all of the competition offer 12 inch or bigger screens, they took the sunroof out of the PIlot EX-L. It all just feels like bitter, outrageous cost cutting. Yet prices have gone thru the damn roof. Hondas have always been a bit behind in content in the 80s and 90s BUT the difference then was that the competition was lackluster and couldnt hold a candle to the Accords and Civics in those times. Now everybody makes a good (if not great) product and Honda just looks like they are taking advantage of their reputatiton and overpricing their products. I waited until the new CR-V debuted before I bought my a CX-5 Turbo....outside of space...the CX5 shits all over the CR-V in content, power, handling, etc. And its pricing is the same a a Hybrid Sport Touring. They also took features from the CR-V...fog lights, rear seat fold down latch in the tailgate, etc. The way they have done the Accord just breaks my heart. Dont even get me started on sorry ass Acura. The TLX is a fat joke, the RDX is dull, the Integra is decent (but underpowered and underequipped) the MDX is the only one that really feels somewhat special. The more critical you reviewers are of what Honda is doing (and getting away with) the more aware consumer will become and it might force Honda to rethink how stupidly selfish, arrogant and cheap they have become compared to the competition. I have thought about an Integra 6MT, but again, it costs almost as much as a GTI but lacks all kinds of equipment that the GTI offers (panoroof, ventilated seats, rear ac vents, heated rear seats, etc.) and the GTI is way way faster. The products are "decent" but the competition has really caught up with Honda and its starting to show..especially for the prices Honda charges for everything these days.
this generation of hondas just seems like such an after thought with the exception of the civic. So many crucial features missing through out their whole lineup but the thing that boggles my mind is their small infotainment screens in the crv and especially pilot. that is such an important feature now a days. And the funny thing is they are pretty much recycling the same interiors in all of their lineups but refuse to use the big screen that comes in the accord in these suvs.
The powertrain is obviously the most appealing aspect, but Honda cheaped out so much everywhere else kind of baffling. No full digital dash, cooled seats, 360° cam or pano roof even as options! Pretty disappointing they didn’t step up to the next level with the redesign.
I totally agree with you. I have a '21 gas Touring and am struggling to like the new model. I don't need cutting edge, but it would have been nice for Honda to at least keep up with the times on the more common stuff like the stuff you mentioned. The engine options are also kinda disappointing. Yes, more mpg, but 0-60 is slower, not that it was that fast to begin with and more $. Simply put in one word, "disappointed"
Honda realized that Acura sales have been declining so they pushing people to Acura and also Honda vehicles are less popular in other countries outside North American continent apart from Japan and the cost of them reflects due to shrinking inventory of trims compared to competition like Toyota as an example...
I think you need to get a better understanding of how Hondas Hybrid system works. At city speeds, the electric motor is doing 100% of the propulsion, the engine kicking on at city speeds does not mean the engine is connected to the wheels, it’s simply providing electricity to the battery/electric motor. At highway speeds, the gasoline engine can connect directly to the wheels or when you’re towing it can also connect directly to the wheels. There is no other Hybrid out right now that drives like an EV at city speeds as much as this system does, it’s practicality an EV at city speeds. You’re the first reviewer i’ve seen that has said they prefer the Toyota system in terms of driving over this, Tropher/Alex on autos and a few others have all said they prefer this system in terms of smoothness/refinement over Toyotas system. I will agree with the other comments about this CR-V being overpriced for what you get, the touring should’ve been around 35K but Honda decided to raise prices and offer less features compared to their competitors.
Agree with all of your points except the cost. While the RAV4 hybrid has "options" for some of the things missing on the CRV hybrid (360 camera, etc.), when you get these options, the car is considerably more expensive than the CRV hyrbrid sport touring. Add to that some Toyota dealers still have mark ups up to 5K (at least in CA). Personally, I'd rather "pay" for a better, smoother, and quieter ride than have a 360 camera, HUD, or a panoramic moon roof. Bells and whistles are nice, but it's the comfort of the drive and car response that matter more to me.
I'm sure it's a great car but I was burned by a CVT engine years ago and I vouched I'd never buy another car with one. CVT's were originally made for AVT's and specifically off road vehicles not everyday traffic. Anyone who knows cars will tell you they'd go automatic before CVT. But the CVT's get great gas mileage and are generally more cost effective hence why they're so popular today
Going forward can you test out the driver assist features of these newer vehicles? Automatic lane centering (like Toyota's "lane tracing") and automatic cruise control is important on long highway drives. I recently got one of my kids a Hyundai Tucson and she loves the automatic lane centering for highway driving.
Was that the revving of the gasoline engine 18:53? I read somewhere it's a directly connected engine engaging only at highway speeds. It could just be the fake noise.
It’s nice but Apple CarPlay never worked in the last model for me, even the Bluetooth audio picked and chose when it wanted to work and it seems like that problem hasn’t been fixed. Smh.
Honda have really been falling off for me. The CR-V just isn’t quite as up to par with its competitors, the new HRV I personally like less than the previous Gen one, and I’ve rarely seen the new civic around (at least in Australia)
@naveenthemachine you just answered my point.. outside North America like in Australia, Southern Africa especially in South Africa where I'm currently am, the civics, hrvs are mute over here, even KIAs and Hyundais are more popular sadly.
@Sean Ferguson yes it is their biggest market but Hondas are rare in South Africa. Have you been to South Africa yet...Toyotas are more popular down there more than Hondas. The only Hondas that they have are FIT or Jazz that's about it.
Good review. If you aren't a car enthusiast you will think this car is good. But to people who drive really nice cars BMW M3, 7, S63 Amg, etc. His review is accurate! If you are used to bread and butter cars you will think you have something. It is quiet and has great gas mileage. That's it! It's slow and unrefined.
We just purchased a 2024 Honda hybrid sport Touring and we absolutely love it. On your video I see the lights flashing. Ours does that sometimes, what causes this.
Honda is going as generic as possible, it’s target audience isn’t people who watch these reviews for entertainment, it’s people who don’t care…. They want it to work and believe Honda has a good rep
Compared to the competition, honda really put a premium price tag on a slow and heavy vehicle with underwhelming real-world mpg and subpar infotainment/ammenities
Just leased the hybrid sport in my opinion AWD should be a standard in all trims like Mazda. 230 hp is a good start and yes they should at more tech for the money. Base trim sport vs Touring almost 8k difference 🤦🏽♂️. overall i still enjoy it
I just test drove this car and it is AMAZING!!! I effing loved it and if I had an extra $40K lying around, I would've bought it. But I plan to buy one next year.
Great review! I like the new look of it. However, I am disappointed with the engine and hybrid system. Really wish Honda would put an engine that would pump at least 170ish HP N/A instead of the meager 140hp motor they keep pairing with their hybrid system. I own a R4Prime and I like how the parallel hybrid system gives instant power. I want Honda's hybrid system to improve.
The electric motor is the only thing that can power the wheels if any sort of significant torque is requested. That electric motor has 181 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque!
Press left foot on brake and floor gas pedal with right foot. Wait a few seconds and let your foot off the brake while still flooring the gas. This is terrible for transmissions so be warned.
Honda is weird with how they're going about these hybrid trims. Going from a gas to a hybrid to a gas then back to a hybrid is sure to confuse some people. I wish they would've gone with a trim structure like Toyota's older hybrids, like the RAV4, Highlander, and Camry (for example) where most trims allow you to choose between the ICE, HEV, or even PHEV trims. I also see a lot of cost cutting with this new CR-V. The lack of interior colors, no ventilated seats, no pano sunroof, no 360° camera, and especially no full digital display is a good handful of features that I think will turn many potential customers off of this car.
Yup. I have a 2022 Honda CRV hybrid and the efficiency is definitely not as advertised. It was advertised as 37 highway and 40 mpg city. I don't get more than 33 just like you and I've had the car for 7 months now. Definitely false advertising. Shame on you Honda for lying.
The crv is a better option over a rav4. Because the crv is more spacious, the interior is much higher quality, fit and finish is better, tech is better and the infotainment has a Home Screen. The driving dynamics are much better than the rav4 and it’s quieter, rides better etc The extra features on the Toyota come at the cost of those qualities the rav4 stumbles vs the crv
Even at the CRVs price point, I expect to see those features from the RAV4 on the CRV. Not to mention the hybrid which is the main component. The RAV4 gets significantly better MPG in the real world, while most Honda Hybrids have not. Considering a hybrids mission, it’s a real disappointment.
@@arhamkhakwani5851 The RAVE4 does not get "Significantly" better MPG in the real world. It's about 3 mpg difference in the real world. While the CRV hybrid may not have 360 cam or panoramic moon roof, it drives much nicer, is significantly quieter, and the AWD is much more effective in bad weather/snow.
So I have a 22 Tucson Hybrid Limited which is better than the 2023 CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid by -Automatic vs CVT -Heated rear seats -Panoramic Sunroof vs Regular Sunroof -Fog lights -Ventillated Front seats. -360 camera -IMHO a much more seamless interior. I can't stand the obsession with Honda and Toyota with putting their screens as a bolted on tablet. It stinks of it being an afterthought. -From what I can tell better materials in the car. -and a better soundsystem. How is the CR-V then a safe choice?
Because it’s better well rounded. It has tons of space, great driving dynamics decent performance, top notch build quality, and good tech. Plus good ergonomics and lots of storage If you think about it, the crv is like the bmw 3 series of the segment where in every metric it scores very high
@@naveenthemachine tuson isn’t small either. Heck the sportage is huge and it’s an even better Tuscan at a cheaper price than this. The Korean duo has really nice interior too. Driving sure the Honda can win a little bit but let’s be honest it’s not gonna be much and people who buy these most likely won’t care. Hell for comparable price you can get the cx5 and that’s thing has power and traditional luxury. Sure it’s not hybrid but it’s still decently efficient Even if all of your point are truly better than the Korean it still can’t justify missing all of these features. At least give an option.
No panoramic sunroof and has incandescent tail lights... What's the point of redesigning if they're not going to go all the way? KIA should not be beating out Honda's features and options...
I still think the CR-V is still an excellent choice. I see so many of these in the Sport and Touring trims and it’s easy to see why. I always associate this class with the CR-V and RAV4. To me, they have always been the benchmarks and standard for a compact SUV in this class. Sure Honda was conservative but that’s the Japanese philosophy. A car does not need to be extremely stylish or extremely innovative for the average consumer. Honda still has done a wonderful job with this new CR-V.

Have owned my Sport Touring for a couple months now and absolutely love it. Test drove every single compact SUV on the market and it was really down to this one and the Rav 4. Reasons I deferred to the CRV:

@@HappyHaulThe RAV4 is a great car imo but Honda seems like they're a class above Toyota lately these days
Same here. CR-V DOES have the better AWD system.
Well.. if you want an overly critical review of this car, this is your channel.

I don’t think that’s entirely true.
The AWD tests I saw at TFL shown both of them being equally shitty.
I had higher expectations on the CRV hybrid.
Wow I'm actually impressed by the design. Props to Honda's design team!
CRV is more fun to drive, more spacious and much better looking than RAV 4. It also doesn’t take 1-2 years to get one!

How’s the reliability?
Nah, I worked at Honda Service...damn things run forever.
Mine took 2 weeks. A 2023 Toyota RAV4 XSE Hybrid.
How does the hybrid handle the hills? Does the gas engine Rev hard to make enough power to feed the electric motors?
Does your Sport Hybrid have 2WD or 4WD?

Flat folding back seats would be nice, 360 camera, and ventilated seats would be nice for $40k+ for the Sport Touring Hybrid.
And extra $1000.00 bills in wallet.
10:05 - Note: you can't get real leather seats in any version of the RAV4. SofTex only.
Oh, yes, factory gives free oil changes after 10K intervals I did this. and it cost me my engine. Thanks, Toyota.
“ bought your son” You’re ruining him. Helicopter patent. 👎🏼
Watch Dr. Laura before it’s too late.
CR-V Sport touring for 7,000 miles and love it. Solid, quiet, responsive and comfortable. 36 mpg commuter mile avg. Could not be happier
I don’t understand how you still can’t get panoramic sunroof, 360 camera or ventilated seats in this CRV but in china you can get the same CRV with all of that plus a 3rd row and you can also get brown leather seats….
Let us know when you become CEO of Honda!
That's because they probably don't have the Acura RDX big brother vehicle. The Honda brand is it. Thus the Accord also has panoramic there
@@lionintu I get that but when Toyota has it on the rav4 and Camry, the Kia and Hyundai suvs have it as well as the luxury counterparts it’s not really an excuse. Besides Mazda I think it’s the only compact cuv without a panoramic roof
“No LED lighting in the cabin area”
I think one thing you missed Sofian, is the little led lights from the overhead console that flood the centre tunnel area with a faint glow at night so you can see your cup holder, gear lever etc. such an underrated feature and one of those little things you appreciate once you notice it.
Agreed... I just got a Kona N and I never noticed how the rim of the cupholders had a really soft blue-white light around it until I drove it at night.
Wished every car had it, to be honest.
Soft lighting has a much more relaxing ambiance for cabin lighting in my opinion

His words exactly " It's okay for the mass production vehicles"
Previously, I had spent hours on the phone with the American Honda call center about this issue trying to get someone in the quality control management, but unfortunately they've said that there is no such one, so that's probably why Honda manufacturing going down in the quality I guess? So sad experience. Beware, and check on those things at the time of purchase!

Slightly disappointed in the lack of quality control with this one after coming out of our 2018 which had no issues.

20:14 So, basically this is an 8 second vehicle. No average driver will brake torque a car to defeat anything....
Exactly, when you need to go fast, you're not taking the time to brake torque- who even does that?
Nissan rogue is decent and the crv drives great and has high levels of polish all around. None of that can be said of the rav4

It does have remote start and remote window roll down
Give me power folding mirrors and ventilated seats over a sunroof.
The CRV is actually slightly longer than the new Sportage so it’s not a smaller vehicle. I’d also say 33 mpg would be considered “low 30’s” as well.
I an really confused as to why Honda isn't giving the consumers a lot of options, for instance, its biggest competitor the RAV4, offers a pano roof, heated and cooled seats fully digital gauge cluster, bigger infotainment and more interior colour options, and so do most of the other competition if not all
Some of us have less money to spend than others.
The RAV 4 hybrid powertrain is a little more thrifty than the Honda's as it has always been. In every other category the Honda wins hands down. More space, better handling, better braking better, interior design, etc, etc. In my book, they are not even close.

Honda decided to get rid of the turbocharged engine, 360 camera, fog lights and panoramic sunroof??? 🤦🏾♂️
I just bought it and its too good. Drive is very smooth and no noise. Its good for families with kids. Whats the use of Rav4 if you have to wait for a year to get one.. its not worth a wait. CRV is smooth and quiet. You will easily get one in a month
It seems everyone does the 0-60, what about highway speeds doing 45-65 to pass someone to see how power delivery is at those speeds?
Well said!
Also Honda really need to work on their taillights design, the CRV rear lights aren’t original and look like Volvos as many have pointed out, same with the pilot lights, shape is nice but an incandescent design with incandescent bulbs on upper trims is completely unacceptable and incandescent cabin lights too 🤦🏻♂️
I think Honda focused so much on the Type R, Accord and Pilot, that they seemed to have forgotten about the CRV and skipped a ton of features that it should have offered.
The rav4 is worse. It’s noisy and cheaply built and cramped. The Honda is so much better
They're saving them for the 3rd 4th and 5th years push
Just traded in a 2022 and can say it's worth it, on many levels. I purposely kept the miles off the old CRV and waited until the full reviews were in. Only complaints are : why no fog lights? No garage door opener. Would've liked to see more storage worked on. Shouldve put a well in the trunk for additional storage. Lastly, would've been great to see an additional 10 to 15 horses on the engine. Outside of that, the car is top notch in Almost all the other areas
This CRV dethroned the RAV4 King of SUV’s. This will change with the redesigned RAV4 in 2024. 🤴
8.5/10 ✅
I’m debating between this , the rav 4, and Kia sportage hybrids. Crv doesn’t offer enough features for the the price. The rav 4 wait time is about 6 months, and Kia sportage reliability might be a lil iffy.
Kia has had some engine recall issues. I would either get the CRV, or wait for the RAV4. Or, consider other models like a HRV or Corolla Cross.
Get the Honda or Hyundai Kia. The Toyota isn’t worth it
The RAV4 will be more expensive than the CRV with the few extra bells and whistles people complain the honda is missing.
But it’s more expensive for less features.
@@johnchow9552 Is providing a super-smooth driving experience a feature? Many (all?) think that it is. What price do you put on that? How do you think this CR-V got so smooth? We can be reasonably sure It sure wasn't by cost-cutting. Most likely, it got that way through more investment in areas that can't be readily identified the way fog lights, cooling seats, and extra roof glass can.
just got recalled for fires
The horn is a deal breaker and I'm not even shopping lol.
😂 Not a deal breaker for me since I only use it once a month but I do plan on upgrading it.
Good! When someone will pay you a wage to afford a vehicle, you will probably get a good rusted out Kia on the cheap.
Best review I've seen of the new CR-V. Thanks for taking the time to put it together for us.
He makes money .....sweetie.
Try another one: ruclips.net/video/IjfFyKo4yvs/видео.html
Love mine, averaging 40-42mpg combine.
Power folding mirrors and surround camera are the big misses with the CRV.
But there’s still a lot to like- larger, safer and great ride and mpg.
Yikes… it’s definitely behind the competition🥴
Honda realized that Acura sales have been declining so they pushing people to Acura and also Honda vehicles are less popular in other countries outside North American continent apart from Japan and the cost of them reflects due to shrinking inventory of trims compared to competition like Toyota as an example...
The seats are better than rav4 and rides better and smoother. It’s very reliable. Bc ppl only care for techs instead of how long the car would last.
Lmao 🤣 what competition?
*competition is broke down on side of the road after 60k miles and rusted out
What competition? Lmao dumb comment. 💀
Does the sport touring hybrid have better sound dampening material compared to the sport hybrid (thicker glass, etc)?
No picnic table?
Question, does the daytime running light flash or is it just look like that on camera?
hated older designs, love the new design. i bought crv 2023 sport touring after looking at crazy long wait list for rav4 highest trim.
Looks good but waiting on the Mazda CX70
Can't wait to see that one...looks great in photos!
Toyota is the best hybrid system and reasonably priced, no drive shaft turning to transfer power to the rear axle =less maintenance.
This vehicle is sooo smooth, no complaints
Man, i want this SUV so badly.
I never wanted a vehicle with this much fiery passion lol.
Honda is not that big of a market outside North America, just so you know
No it’s not. In America Hondas just fine. Besides if they weren’t the civic accord crv pilot wouldn’t be top of the class
@naveenthemachine you just answered my point.. outside North America like in Australia, Southern Africa especially in South Africa where I'm currently am, the civics, hrvs are mute over here, even KIAs and Hyundais are more popular sadly.
@@alvinsimba734 this is definitely not true, Japan is their biggest market by far.
We bought a 2013 CRV exl. We love and are ready to upgrade
You’re paying for the premium quality and the high level of polish
Everyone has an opinion. Make sure you take out extra towing insurance in snow country.
Great reviews as always. Do wish Honda would have added someone features that you pointed out. Would have made it that much better.
It’s probably better than my 21 accord sport, time to trade up tomorrow 🤩 WOOHOOO
Just leased the hybrid sport in my opinion AWD should be a standard in all trims like Mazda. 230 hp is a good start and yes they should at more tech for the money. Base trim sport vs Touring almost 8k difference 🤦🏽♂️. overall i still enjoy it
Bought CR-V hybrid Sports-L last week. It’s an amazing vehicle.
I just test drove this car and it is AMAZING!!! I effing loved it and if I had an extra $40K lying around, I would've bought it. But I plan to buy one next year.
Great car. I drive this often when I rent a Zipcar. I feel it's really fast in city streets.
I get 40mpg in mine with a heavy foot
Great review! I like the new look of it. However, I am disappointed with the engine and hybrid system. Really wish Honda would put an engine that would pump at least 170ish HP N/A instead of the meager 140hp motor they keep pairing with their hybrid system. I own a R4Prime and I like how the parallel hybrid system gives instant power. I want Honda's hybrid system to improve.
The electric motor is the only thing that can power the wheels if any sort of significant torque is requested. That electric motor has 181 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque!
When is your requested model coming out! I would apply for a job at Honda. I wish you luck.
Did I miss something? Is there no spare tire offered?
You can fit 4 spares in the back. You'll love it.
Is it true that this model of Honda CR-V does not have side impact beams in the second row?
What tire shine do you use?
What is brake torquing and how do you do that when accelerating to 60
Something no actual owner of a CR-V (or the like) will ever do.
Send Honda a letter, better yet apply for a design job. Good Luck!
@@davidhanson3345 sounds like someone is a Honda fanboy who hates when someone politely points out a flaw... go munch on some grass!
Yup. I have a 2022 Honda CRV hybrid and the efficiency is definitely not as advertised. It was advertised as 37 highway and 40 mpg city. I don't get more than 33 just like you and I've had the car for 7 months now. Definitely false advertising. Shame on you Honda for lying.
I hear that often about this hybrid.
Honda CRV are the best!!!🥰 I have a 99’ and it’s my baby. Such a good car.
The crv is a better option over a rav4. Because the crv is more spacious, the interior is much higher quality, fit and finish is better, tech is better and the infotainment has a Home Screen. The driving dynamics are much better than the rav4 and it’s quieter, rides better etc
The extra features on the Toyota come at the cost of those qualities the rav4 stumbles vs the crv
So I have a 22 Tucson Hybrid Limited which is better than the 2023 CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid by
-Automatic vs CVT
-Heated rear seats
-Panoramic Sunroof vs Regular Sunroof
-Fog lights
-Ventillated Front seats.
-360 camera
-IMHO a much more seamless interior.
Plus good ergonomics and lots of storage
If you think about it, the crv is like the bmw 3 series of the segment where in every metric it scores very high
Sure it’s not hybrid but it’s still decently efficient
Even if all of your point are truly better than the Korean it still can’t justify missing all of these features. At least give an option.
Better? All that stuff you listed doesn't make it "better", Those are all preferences, buddy.
This car is a just a deal breaker. Fact this will cost over 50K with all taxes in Canada. Hell no
I don’t like the panoramic glass roofs on vehicles. Especially if u live in a state known for hail damage.
Honda dropped the ball for this new generation smh. Rogue premium has all the tech and panoramic roof!
Gross nasty Nissan
Buy the Rogue. Did you say 3 cylinder?
Flat tire kit or the spare tire is underneath? Thanks
In the cargo area on the driver side is a pull off panel with a sealant infused pump
