    Hi,
    I bought in 2016 a Volvo V70 2.4D with 199.000 km, my 2007.
I had the engine cleaned with a motorflush, automatic gearbo, power steering cleaned. On top of that a tuning of the ecu. The car went from a "mom and dad" car qith 163 PK, to a smooth car with 225 pk and 500Nm. Gears are smooth, don't feel a bump when it's shifting gears, steering is really smooth and there's enough power to go 230 km/h. The fluids that came out while flushing were real dirty and black. At the moment fuel consumption is about 6 l/1100km average, so including pulling up etc. Fuel consumption on cruise control at 100 km/h is 4,5 to 5 l/100km.
Stuff used for flushing was BAG, done is a Volvo enthousiast garage. The Netherlands is a Volvo land, so there are many Volvo maniacs.

For common rail diesels I use fairy liquid and ammonium sulphate with vegetable oil. 1L bottle of aldis finest council gear. Remove 100ml then add 4 teaspoons of the ammonium sulphate salt's. Heat it up in a pan to around 100*c, let it cool down and put it back in the bottle. Add 4 tablespoons of fairy liquid, and shake it up gently. Don't worry about the bubbles, they'll settle down mate. Cost about £5 for the mother of all £15 a tank injector cleaners dpf cleaners out of Halfords.
Diesel cleaners use nitrogen based agents for removing carbon deposits and fuel line dirt and debris. It's the council version of addblue dpf regeneration liquids. That's your ammonium doing all that.
The fairy liquid is a surfactant and detergent. The same base detergent is used in Wynns, and already exists in your pump diesel in Jim Torbett levels of shady.
I also have a degree, fuck knows how, in Motorsport and worked for Lucas when I was shagging a wee dirty fae Austin, Texas. I basically stole their recipe, got rid of all the shite you don't need.

Lucas brand unipart fuel injector cleaner for gasoline was 99.5% white spirit in the U.K $3 For a litre .
White spirit is made from various solvents such as benzene, toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, and acetone. The difference between turpentine and white spirit is that turpentine is made from natural resin extracted from trees, while the white spirit is made from petroleum distillate.

Too much injector cleaner can desolve too much a chunk of gunk, but not desolving it complitly and may cause blockage in fuel system. Also, diesel fuel has lubricating properties that are important for the long-term operation of the high-pressure pump, but injector cleaner may reduce it when over dose. It is okay to use injector cleaner for cleaning injectors directly on stend and after that flush with diesel.

This is an old video but the man said he had trouble revving the engine over 3K.
The reason he can't do this is because the engine is starving for air at high RPM.
The variable vane in his turbo are stuck in the restrictive position which has the effect of quickly spooling the turbo and a barking noise when letting off the accelerator.
The downside is the overly restrictive flow will choke the engine at higher RPM, increased exhaust temperatures, poor fuel mileage at highway speeds, possibility to over speed the turbo, and overheat the turbo components such as the turbine wheel and center bearings/bushings, lack of power, overheated exhaust valves and seats, and many more problems. It's common for these turbo components to become stuck in any position if they sit for some time in damp weather and disassembly is advised to free them again.

Get yourself a 5L bottle of 2EHN (2 Ethylhexyl Nitrate) 99% pure cetane booster, also cleans injectors, lines etc. Makes your fuel burn cleaner, less deposits, cleaner engine etc etc. Been using it for years. I have a 2006 BMW e60 530d (stage 1 map). At Crail raceway my first time after the map was 14.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. After using 250ml of 2EHN mixed with 250ml of Jaso FB 2-stroke oil in a full tank of shell V-power next time I ran at Crail, I dropped 2.1 seconds. That's huge in the quarter mile. 1ts a 185k engine with original DPF and it only has 9 grams of Ash in there. Most cars of this age and mileage are choked up or on their 2nd DPF or gutted. £30 for 5L of 2EHN, £20 or so for 5L of Jaso fb rated 2-stroke and I use it at every fill up. Runs like a train.

And how do you know that they know what they are doing if you know nothing about it yourself. Leave the engine as designed by the manufcturer. Mechanics don't know what they are doing, they are just parts fitters and have to follow written instructions and pictures for those that cannot read. You gain nothing by having a car remapped. So you might increase 0-60 accelleration by 1 second, so what are you going to do with that one second saved. If you think faster accelleration is safer then you are a poor driver and the causer of accidents and near misses.

Best injector cleaner ever is e85 fuel for gasoline engines. I would go fill up and do half tank regular gasoline and then half e85. Most injector cleaners are mostly ethanol anyway. You do NOT want to do this on vehicles made before a certain year, I think it is 2000? Those older vehicles were not made to handle ethanol and it will eat through fuel lines, destroy your fuel pump, injectors, etc. But if you have a more modern car, this works great. You just have to keep in mind that ethanol is higher octane and contains less energy than gasoline, as well as converts to different gases as exhaust. So your car will have noticable less power and may have some funny things go on since the computer does not know how to measure exhaust of ethanol unless it was made for it.

Haha yeah I was looking into deleting the egr and then realise my intake manifold doesn't even have that port or any sort to have a egr. I was like bonus! Did you feel any more power from the straight pipe exhaust? And did you lose mpg?

As well as too much fuel, black smoke could also be caused by, not enough air. I.e a blockage in an air pipe, improper signal from MAF sensor, there's a few culprits for it, but if your car is pre EGR I wouldn't worry about it, it's likely been like that from new lol

With all respect I only seen you pour one bottle of injector cleaner into the fuel tank.

It didn't break it which was the main test 🤣 hard to know if it really made a difference to be honest

Injectors cleaner is just kerosene, you overpaid by alot for the kerosene lol!

Not all are just kerosene ( although some are definitely) but yes all are 80% or more kerosene as it’s very small amounts of detergent only that is needed
