- Thomas Seymour insists on his wish to marry Elizabeth Tudor, who firmly states that she would never marry without the council's consent.
Becoming Elizabeth episode 5
Thomas abruptly marries the king's widow, engages in clearly inappropriate behavior with a teenage Elizabeth (appearing in a state of undress before her, entering her bed chamber, grabbing her and removing some of her clothes), and then tries to exfiltrate the king from his home in the night. He was a schemer, through and through. Every man pursued the heiress to the throne for his own ambitions: Lord Thomas Howard the Lesser to Margaret Douglas (also, Catherine Howard's brother Charles); Northumberland's son Guildford to Jane Grey; Philip of Spain to Mary (and latterly Elizabeth); Leicester to Elizabeth; Lord Darnley to Mary, Queen of Scots; Edward Seymour the Younger to Katherine Grey (sister of Jane).
Absolutely. He was a schemer. And it may not have been considered “grooming” then, but that’s exactly what he actually tried to do.
@@shannonfick7170 Not just tried, but actually did (at least according to/within this series)
A " very strong " Elizabeth in this scene. Wonderful the way she stood up to him when he talked about taking " the leap of faith" with him.
Elizabeth was very strong here, wonderful dialogue and good to see her standing up for herself! Thanks for posting Lili!
Elizabeth may have been young, but she was a quick learner. Having seen the kind of man he truly 0:53 was, there was no way that she would jeopardize her future as queen of England for him😒
Throughout the entire series I just kept waiting when Thomas will lose his head so that I can stop vomitting in my mouth
Thomas is a creep.
So this series goes with the idea that Elizabeth willingly engaged in a relationship with him? Interesting track.
Im going to go with she's an abused, forgotten teenager whose over whelmed that someones paying attention to her. Catherine Parr seemed to be portrayed as seeing how f'ed up it was.
Historically, she did have some very mixed feelings about him. Plus she *was* just a teenage girl, so it's understandable that she'd be naive, though she did later realise just how foolish and dangerous it was to get involved with him.
@@leogal063 ...as in she was groomed by him.
Honestly Thomas Seymour makes my skin crawl. But if he looked like Tom Cullen, I too, would have a problem resisting...
If Catherine Parr knew what her last husband would do after her death, she’d have been heartbroken.
If she sent Elizabeth far away when she saw them engaging in... a suspicious behaviour, she might have already suspected that.
This Thomas is hot
Great Video.
Hey, Lili1127(...) Did you see this Richard III movie on RUclips ?
The only Richard III movie I have seen was the one with Laurence Olivier
@@Lily1127channel Oh, Lili1127; there are so many Richard III movies you NEED to SEE.
I think all Richard III movies are the same if they are all based on Shakespeare's play. I am not a fan of that play.
@@Lily1127channel Fair enough. But I really want to hear your opinion on the Tower of london from 1962.
Link please?
Was she really in love with him?
Some say she was receptive to Thomas Seymour, while others say he abused her. I believe it’s a little of both. Bottom line: Thomas groomed Elizabeth because he wanted to be King.
@@ShiningFriendship87 But nobody could foresee then that Edward VI would die so young, unmarried and childless.
And even if so - there was still Mary before Elizabeth in the line of succession, as their father decided.
True, but given Mary’s age and Catholic faith, Thomas would have never been able to seduce her into marrying him. Elizabeth was a much easier prospect to manipulate for multiple reasons: her age, the fact that they lived in the same household for a time, and she found him attractive.
@@ShiningFriendship87 I agree. It was opportunity that Thomas saw but after the incident where Catherine Parr may have caught some sort of scene that she couldn’t say was innocent and the vicious rumors that followed Elizabeth wised up. She realized who Thomas was and realized the danger in taking flirtations no matter how “innocent” so far. I’m sure thoughts of her mother Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard helped enforce that
@@ShiningFriendship87 she had a crush on him and he knows that and took advantage of that.
First comment.
Ugh Thomas 🤢🤮
