And yet, upon Edward’s death and the ascension of Protestant Jane Grey to the throne, Mary and Elizabeth with their respective Men at Arms United forces on the road to London. Side by side they swept away all opposition, rode into the Tower of London, seized the throne for Mary, imprisoned Jane and had her executed. Later, Mary could not bring herself to sign Elizabeth’s death warrant - even to keep a Protestant from the throne. They were true sisters.

Henry VIII placed all 3 of his Children Edward, Mary and Elizabeth in his will to protect them and so that they would protect each others claim to throne as only then would the Tudor line be secure. Very smart. Shame none of them had any children. The Tudor's were excellent monarchs.

Well it was probably more out of fear for her immortal soul, putting her own sister to death, or fear the people would rise up against her.

@@user-gi8pk9uc7qMary hated Elizabeth’s mother. If Mary really hated Elizabeth , she would have her executed along Jane Grey. Like what Elizabeth did to her cousin Mary Queen of Scots.
Actually both are still buried together in Westminister Abbey. Sisters together forever

Agreed. Historically and noncanonicially, Mary has been the weaker personality. This actress has outshined the actress playing Elizabeth, which is hard to do as the actress playing Elizabeth displays great talent.

Mary was taken away from her titles, servants, etc... and all was given as the new royal princess, Elizabeth. Mary was even put on her little sister care and she didnt hate her. In fact, she was a very motherly figure (something we dont quite see of her). She even said she couldnt hate an innocent little baby. Even baby Elizabeth was said to be very fond of Mary. When Elizabeth was taken away from her Princess titles, servants etc, it was Mary who stood by her side because of all the people she was the only one that knew what it was like and had gone through the same experience. She campaigned later on to have both of them restaured and by the side of their father which Henry accepted. She even walked to her coronation by the side of Elizabeth to show the might and power of the Tudor dynasty.

    Wonderful video!
It’s so sad how religion and the English throne tore apart the love between these two sisters. They were united in their illegitimacy, bonded by their shared status in the Tudor court. Even when Mary was forced by Anne Boleyn to be a servant to her little sister, she still loved Elizabeth. Mary could have put Elizabeth to death for Wyatt’s rebellion during her reign, but she didn’t because (despite everything) she loved her sister.

Also, she was his heir, and everyone feared Henry VIII even in death. Henry VIII will set out the succession very clearly, and no one wanted to go against it apart from Edward, who wanted a Protestant to follow him.

Technically it was Henry not Anne who forced Mary to be a part of Elizabeth's household. He should get the majority of blame. Also, there was no proof that Elizabeth was involved in Wyatt's rebellion so Mary couldn't have her own sister executed on false charges but yes in spite of everything I do think they loved each other. They just weren't close and grew apart as they grew up but Elizabeth supported Mary with troops when she came to the throne and rode with her into London when she was crowned queen. She was acknowledged as her heir and never plotted against her so there is that. In spite of religious differences they supported each other's claims unlike Edward who disowned them both.

I'm not a big fan of the actress chosen for Elizabeth. Or maybe its the way she's written. I'm sure the actress is lovely, but in this...I don't care much for Elizabeth. But Mary is spectacular! Both the actress and the way she's written. If this is even somewhat accurate, who can blame her for going after the protestants. I can't wait to watch her reign. I hope both the actress and the writing are as fantastic as this.

A beautiful piece of work!🥰 I love the relationship between Mary and Elizabeth! Their the best sister duo ever!💖 I wish their affectionate sisterly relationship stayed like that forever and that they never grew apart as they did in their later years. Mary truly loved Elizabeth with all her heart. I have always admired the both of them. Mary, for her forgiving and strong character and Elizabeth for her fierceness and cleverness✨ The hug at 2:27 and 5:16 melted my heart🥺😩 I always love their hug moments in the series😍✨ I also love that the music is based on betrayal as it really reflects Mary and Elizabeth's relationship like that in the later years🖤 "I don't hate you. We love one another, Mary." That line really broke me from inside🥺 Beautifully done!!😭🥺😍
