Colin mentioned a couple of time how much Jamie had meant to him,,, Parley had NOT been Revived without Jamie at his side,,, so he changed Parley from a Lagoon 450 to a Jamie 465,,, just shows Colins tremendous wisdom and heart

Colin has done everyone including Lagoon a great service. The issue is known, it is being addressed and helps those of us shopping for a boat assist with our due diligence.

Colin is an incredible guy, nothing seems to phase him !
When his entire boat was falling apart just as they were setting off to cross the Pacific and then got struck by lightening you could see the disappointment on his face but you could also see that he was never going to quit and he would find a way to fix it !
I was reading comments on his video from people saying he should just walk away from that boat and he'd made a big mistake buying a hurricane damaged catamaran but I think that just made him more determined to fix it !
Watching him and Jamie ripping out the prefabricated interior to get to the damage was shocking, it looked like they were destroying everything, I never thought they would ever get it back together right, but I was wrong !

It's not just the bulkhead fail. It's all the collateral damage that can result from the entire two hulls flexing out of position. What a mess. Now there are two solid 450s in the world, Colin's and Dave's.

I binge watched Below Deck Sailing Yacht and Colin was a frickin' rock star... Basically the only one on the boat (besides the skipper) that wasn't "screwing" around. He was a class act every episode... the voice of reason when shit hit the fan.. Glad to see you're up and running, man..... James, these interview podcast are a lot of fun and very informative. Good recap of the PARLAY story. There are several boat building or boat refit stories going on right now. Colin's story is one of my favorites. His character and his crews characters set them apart. MJ sailing is cool, because they are building an entire boat and Jessica's electric blue eyes. Dauntless is another good story of a rebuild. So many sailing/ building/rebuilding channels right now.

Wow man. If I could give 10 likes 👍 I would. I completely loved the style and the content. Laid back and chilled interview with a really cool well known and hugely liked fellow RUclipsr. Allowed Colin to use most of the time to tell his extremely interesting story. You did a great job allowing him the time needed without rushing it, or feeling the need to constantly chip in. The demands for you guys to put out material is so great, it’s difficult to a) allocate the time for this and b) get another extremely busy channel to give up their time to be interviewed properly. Cudos to both of you guys. More please 🙏. Best wishes from the UK (waiting for Covid travel restrictions to lift so we can get our new Seawind 1260). It’s been wrapped up in the factory since last March 🙃

I myself spent a year on the hard in the Marina at the Durban yacht lift, gutting and refitting all the woodwork on a 55ft yacht, that we transported on top the deck of a container ship from the Seychelles. Finally! A real story! Everything that Colin and you said is very true about owning a boat.
But for me I loved Every day when I had my Boat. (A 42' aft cabin motor yawt back in the 90ds) I just hated the time away from my wife. I would only see her on the weekends. So after 5 years I sold her. A sad day for me.
But ya'll are very wright. You buy the boat and it goes down fast befor it comes back up. But years later when you look back on it. It was All a Good time. The people you meet and the friends you make are for Life! And for me it was some of the Best times of my life.
So thanks for the video again.

Hey guys, Great video. You talked about going to the Galapagos, We went through the Panama Canal and then to Ecuador. From there we went to Galapogos without a visa, but the port captains give you a week or so to sort out any "issues" you have with your boat, (At each port). From there, we were far enough away from land that by going up to Mexico we missed the doldrums and the horrible area around the Gulf of Tehuantepec. We didn't get to do the sea of Cortez. My advice, take your time. NZ will still be here when you get home, but it is a long way back across the Pacific. Best of luck.

I had a 32 ft Keeler in the 70’s that for the first couple of years we hauled out on a cradle so it was always sitting on its keel , then one year we hauled out with a lift and watched horrified as the keel separated from the hull about 1/2 inch ! Scary thinking about all those hard slogs to windward !! replaced the old iron bolts with some titanium mix. Based in Auckland New Zealand we had done some hard sailing around the north east coast . Be great to see both your boats in New Zealand waters .

Super cool interview. Love to see some episodes of the three crews hooking up and sailing around together. Great fun!

Right after Riley on La Vagabond bought his new Catamaran and started sailing, he went through the entire boat and got rid of every structural creaking noise with a file and filler material. He claimed he could not sleep while sailing, if his boat was making noises where not normal sailing noises.

Good Nz morning James. I've been subbed with you for a maybe two years, and now I'm going to subscribe to Colin. And Parley. As well.
Indeed his journey is going to be an interesting one to follow. Thank you for bringing his story to us. Btw it was good to hear a kiwi accent. Just saying. As far as cats go, I think that the Wharram catamarans are probably one of the better sea going designs. I don't own one, and I've never met James Wharram, but his design seems to have stood the test of time., as in Sailing Lucky Fish.
Just my opinion. Again many thanks for sharing your experiences. Thank you for taking the time to upload. Much appreciated. Atb from down here in Nz. Take care. And FYI I've just subscribed to Sailing Parlay. Thanks for the intro.
