Thank you for taking the time to break it all down. I've been wanting to go this route, but had questions, all of which you answered. I have a 67 Impala with a numbers matching 327 that runs great, but I want fuel injection, and don't trust the aftermarket efi systems on long trips. I like that with this I can get parts right at the auto parts store, or even a junkyard if I have to.
Dude all you do so far is talk. Get to the dam point. Already. No one gives a shyt about all that. Our attention span is 15 seconds. Get on with it already
Can't find your 3rd video... This is exactly what I want to do... 89 chevy p/u that had the 4.3 w/TBI have a 383 stroker w TH400 also... was originally going to put BB TBI on with RPM airgap.. Looking at putting injectors into the RPM airgap..
Great video. Thank you for taking the time and explaining everything. I have a 94 Burban with a 383 TBI. If I go this route it will allow me to make over 500Hp that I'm limited to now.
How do you change the bank assignments? I know that you switch the wiring for the injectors and coils, but the #7 is now on the right bank, and #4 is on the left. What do you change, and what tables do you get in to to fix the check engine light from coming on.
That cold start was right on schedule I bet On the BIN for a 02 Express van, for "# of reference pulses to transition from crank to run" at -4c it calls for 8, which on the 4 tooth reluctor setup would be 8 revolutions I think
I like the idea of factory parts instead of aftermarket great stuff brother! I run a tci stand-alone trans controller for my 4l80e swap in my 99 suburban I have had good luck with it so far at the time it was the only option I had to do the swap, since then I've figured a lot more out lol! I got two more suburbans and I plan on doing similar 4l80e swaps but I'm going to do the hp tuner route this time if you could do video on hp tuners that would be awesome brother keep up the great work!
@Just Truckin' Around - I also have the EFI connection reluctor and distro (I actually have two...) cover. Are you able to tune with HP Tuners? I need to do all the deletes needed to get my SBC running on a 0411. I see that you are "just in the next state" over. I'm in Illinois, stationed at Scott AFB. How far away are you??? Thanks for the awesome videos! Rob
@@JoshWatson Do you mean a starter file to use with HPTuners? I do not have a tuner. I have been trying to find a local tuner to do the deletes. Thank you for getting back to me.
@@treborjm87 Correct. As cheap as HP Tuners is these days, it's worth buying the adapter and credits and having a go at it yourself. That's if you plan to keep your project.
Hi, basically have had the same idea but as you said really little info available. What did you use for the timing cover? Holley something? It would need to fit a GEN1 SBC with a double roller chain and a cam button. Have not found anything but 1000$ ones from a vendor. How do you make sure the sensor aligns with the reluctor wheel and with the cam sensor? If I get this figured, I just might follow with a DIY EFI setup for a currently carbed 560hp 400SBC. Keen on trying out E85 also. Pretty familiar with the rest of the conversion stuff but this whole timing (timing cover/sensor/reluctor/camsensor) -thing has had me bummed... I Have a 98 Vortec suburban and EFI live that I can utilize for the tune with a 0411 PCM, pretty familiar with tuning also.
You've got a real specific build there. I used a Holley aluminum timing cover #21-152. Itll clear the single roller chain only, but I'm not worried. This truck has made tons of power boosted. I've since moved onto a Holley HP EFI PCM. I'm sorry this wasnt the answer you were looking for. But if you were able to mount a 24 tooth reluctor externally with an external crank sensor, it should work fine.
@@JoshWatson can you please provide me on some info/ a vid on the hp ecu, im getting a deal i cant pass up on a hp ecu and harness that was in a foxbody w a turbo sbf and im wanting to put it on my 91 obs with a holley stealth ram intake and run nitrous, currently running 700r4 needs rebuild may go 4l60/80 anything helps josh, thanks for your vids im a fan!
Thanks for posting a useful video, I found this video after I ordered the exact intake , elbow, and 24x kit last week . Hope to see some information in next video about the changes made in hp tuners . Did you delete knock sensors or how did you mount them also would love to know the specs on that cam. Sounds great!
I'll have to make a video on hp tuners. Good idea! I'm running two 1996 LT1 camaro knock sensors. One on each side of my block in the coolant jackets. The cam is a custom grind turbo cam.
@@JoshWatson please do a video on hp tuners, I just got hp tuners and am getting familiar with it but have a lot to learn . I am building a forged 383 with nice set of brodix heads, th400 in a Datsun 240z
Yes please! A video on HP Tuners would be great. I have brand new HP Tuner II and no idea how to use it yet. I am 411 swapping now with coil on plug. 24x reluctor installed when I did the fresh rebuild. I am re-working the 2001 LS Harness for a 1999 355. New Aftermarket cast vortec heads, mild EFI friendly roller cam, holley Throttle body, Edelbrock Intake with matching fuel rails. Still building, but need HP Tuner class on this... HELP!
Hey man, thanks for putting this series together. I've been trying to figure out if this is possible to to with my 94k K1500 350 for a while now and this information is super helpful. I started down this worm hole when I found out you could convert these SBC engines to Coil-Near_plug systems but all the information out there for converting is for engines already able to accept the 411, basically plug and play. Not much out there about converting older OBD1 systems. Trying to determine the cost of doing a 411 and harness swap with new intake etc. and decide if it's just more cost effective to go with an aftermarket ECU setup for more customization down the road.
Not a problem! As a matter of fact, this conversion is done on my 1990 C1500. Which is basically the same truck. Starting with a 99-02 ls powered Silverado harness and refining it based off of the lt1swap.com walk through is the easiest.
I imagine the swap can be done for around $600-650 depending on your junkyard part sourcing abilities. You could even swap to vortec heads and run a vortec intake manifold if youd like.
@@JoshWatson Yeah that's what I've been thinking. Vortec seems the way to go. There are some decent pick and pull joints around here so it will mostly be a junkyard build.
i am questioning the same as I am running a 383 with a holley stealth ram currently and shitty fast ez efi multiport retrofit kit in my 91 obs and i recently got a deal for a holley hp ecu and harness and was wondering if possible to run coil near plug through the holley ecu and if i can would i have to take off the serp system /balancer, etc, to put a crank sensor in the timining cover and how to go about setting up the distributor? any help is appreciated, thanks
I was really hoping to see something about the mechanical side of it. What do you do for the cam and crank signal wheels? I started down this path when I realized that an ECM doesn't have a clue what engine it's hooked to, only what info the sensors give it. Somebody mentioned using LS electronics with non-LS engines and it was like a whole new world opened up. I'm not starting with a GM engine, which may complicate things a bit more. But my stock ECM is worthless for upgrades and I'm wanting to swap engines. The only hurdle with the electrical side, I think, is that I do need to maintain OBDII and the CEL for the nominal emissions testing where I live. I don't know if the CEL signal is standard or if I'll have to modify my dashboard somehow to get it to work. I know the ECM can be flashed with my VIN and do everything else it needs to do to make my truck look right to the inspector.
great info, dropping a (heavily modified) LB9 into my '69, some day.. its been more a smirk n grins engine, guys come into my shead and start with,, WTF , a 305? i want coil on plug..
Informative video! Great job! Any harness give a head start? I guess the longer the better. I’m wanting to do similar but mount the 0411 on passenger inside 3rd gen fbody. Built a sd tpi harness now running sniper but want factory reliability. Any build threads on the truck?
I've had good luck with a 99-02 factory harness and rebuilt it using the LT1SWAP.COM diagrams and info. Relooming them gives you a whole lot of extra space for pcm routing.
I noticed you said 377 in your description. Are you using the Holley timing cover with a retro roller cam? I want to do something like this but I also am concerned my retro roller may be problematic. Holley says you shouldn't do that but you know how their theory and reality possibly are. Also I think I may have missed it but guessing that you're running the EFI Connection 24X wheel right?
You may not need HP tuners software for much longer. This website hosts an android phone based bluetooth flashing and will unbrick 0411 pcms. It won't edit the tunes, but it can extract a tune and/or flash a tune. It is www.ls-droid.com/ . I like what they have done so far. Still in beta testing, but I have already copied 2 oem tunes. You can use Tunerpro to change your tune as needed (with the right xdf file). I am researching converting my LT-1 to 24x with a Torqhead kit, since it is better made than EFI connection's verson. I like your videos. Most informative. Also live in KCMO, and feel that weather every day at work.

Any 24x setup to do this on a mark 4 bbc?
How did you do the crankshaft reluctor wheel? I want to do this on an old jeep.
I used an EFI Connection reluctor.
