Well done Paul for being crazy like me as I was out all day in them freezing conditions. You worked out a great day for yourself and I enjoyed what you filmed. Regards Mike.
The difference between Acton Bridge -7.5’c and alot of snow on the ground and Crewe -4’c hardly any snow on the ground was fascinating as we traveled from Chester where there no snow at all
Great work Mr Growler, out there in Siberia for 5 hours,have you got a portable heater?😅 And we might be getting closer to seeing a 93 earning some dosh by hauling a wagon?
@@arthurgrowler5749 Yes something inherently wrong about this given the transition away from fossil fuels generally. The success of the '66' and the HST was always a good excuse not to (electrify) but intervention is required to stop so much diesel being burned hauling freight on the main electrified lines. Great to see the 87 in action.

The locomotive offers 900kW (1200hp) on its diesel engine and 400kW (536hp) via its two 200kW battery traction packs. There is a diesel and battery hybrid mode which offers a combined 1300kW (1700hp). Each Class 93 is fitted with a Stage V, 900 kW, C32 Caterpillar engine. Heater would of been handy 😀Have a heated body warmer, great invention 👍
Rough wheel flat at 5:20 by the sounds of it
Few during the day !!
Commenting just for the title…
🥶🥶🥶🥶
Great video but they're nearly all diesels operating under the wires, even the 93 working on diesel. It can only be the UK.
Only have to look at Crewe Electric Depot with all the stored / Out of service locos

So the 93 is a sort of electro diesel?

@arthurgrowler5749 so in a sense an electro diesel like the 73 but pantograph driven rather than third rail
@steventhornton4716 Tri- mode loco
