Kubrick truly was a genius with filmmaking but I also think he was absolutely insane and was obsessed with movie making which is why he's one of my favorites
Roy Vice Kubrick was killed because he was exposing something sinister going on in Hollywood, a lot speculate it had to do with mass abuse of children. After all there was a suspicious 24 minutes cut from the film after he died. He was trying to expose something and they had to shut him up.
Actually gladiators were fed high amounts of grains, and as a result, had rather large bellies, a desired feature of a gladiator since cutting a layer of fat is far better than the sword digging into your intestines. Somemebody tell Joe this please.
Kubrick was asked to finish the movie at the behest of Kirk Douglas after they had worked together on Paths Of Glory. Kubrick didn't enjoy working for a big studio for obvious reasons but in the end...Spartacus is one of the finest films ever crafted. To think that Kubrick effectively directed five of the best actors on the planet and he was in his mid twenties I believe. The scene leading up to Spartacus's first arena fight is remarkable. Kubrick never shows you the arena or the first fight. You just sit there waiting with Spartacus and his opponent while just outside the door there is screaming and swords clashing. It creates so much tension as you wait to enter. A ballsy directorial move by a young director. Kubricks attention to detail makes it an absolute gem.
First time I watched the Shining, me and my mate were on mushrooms in Scotland 🏴 and during the film it started to snow leaving a thick white blanket covering the trees and ground, after the movie finished we took a trip down the North inch , a wide open park with huge oak trees , and there was this one set of footprints heading over the huge park towards the River Tay , and they ended right there by the river bank , Weird as fuck ! !

My top 3 of films of Kubrick are paths of glory, Dr strangelove, and Barry Lyndon. Paths of glory is the most profound antiwar movie I've ever seen, with a great performance by Kirk Douglas. The ending scene makes me cry everytime I watch it. Dr strangelove is hilarious and scary at the same time, Peter sellers is terrific as always but George C Scott steals every scene he's in like he did in so many other films. Finally Barry Lyndon is hands down the most gorgeous work of art ever put onto celluloid. The shining is he's most overrated film in my opinion. It's fine, beautiful shots like in every Kubrick film but doesn't really strike a chord with me.
To my everlasting shame, I've yet to see Paths of Glory and Barry Lyndon. I hear near universal praise about the former but the latter tends to go unnoticed. Also, I love The Shining myself, but I don't necessarily think it's his best.

Stephen Kings hatred of the shining stems from how Kubrick handled the character of the wife. In the book she was a much stronger character, and King hated how in the film she was just there to scream. He has spoken about this in several interviews.

Yes, the 00 section is reserved for agents with licenses to kill. There are other 00 agents in the books and movies, including 0011 in Ian Fleming's novel "Moonraker". Bond just has the 007 number assigned to him. When one 00 agent dies, another may be given the same number, as apparently happened to 002 (killed in two separate movies 13 years apart; "The Man With The Golden Gun" and "The Living Daylights")
Daniel Craig is my least favorite James Bond because he brings a serious faced military style to the role which eliminates what made the movies unique. The character of Bond is charismatic, playful, witty, sly, flirty, etc. If I wanted to see a military style character, I would watch Bourne Identity or Mission Impossible.

The story is set in Colorado but all the exteriors were filmed in Oregon at Timberline lodge. Still looks exactly the same. They even re-created portions of it back in England for certain shots.
Kubrick had his 2nd unit film the Colorado scenes and hotel. And then reconstructed a portion of the hotels facade in England, along with a small portion of the exterior maze. And the scence where Jack chase's Danny in the maze was constructed and shot indoors. So yes, the maze maps, models, and different seasons are all going to be different. Kubrick got Spartacus during production because Kirk Douglas fired the original director and replaced him with Kubrick because he had a good time on Paths of Glory and Douglas thought he could control Kubrick more.

I would love to interview Macaulay Caulkin
Stayed at the stanley a month ago and On the 4th floor it seemed as if the floor was swaying back and forth.Wasnt drinkin alcohol or anything. anybody ever feel the that when staying there?
Bro, he was really good in 'party monster'.
Sean Connery was by far the best bond followed by Roger Moore ✌
Yes Sean is was always #1🐕. But R. Moore is a mouse in comparison, a clown to be honest, his films are a parody really
When it comes to the moonlanding in the Shining, Rob Ager already debunked that theory.
The outside of the Overlook Hotel was actually Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood which is in the Cascade Mountain Range about an hour's drive, East of Portland, OR.
Black guy plays Bond = Yay Diversity
White guy plays Black Panther = Literally Hitler REEEEEEEEEE!
Guys we all know Henry Cavill should be the next James Bond
macaulay culkin looks like the joker irl
Kubrick's own daughter called bullshit on the "complex maths in his spare time" claim lol
Stanley Kubrick, should go down in history much much more then a “great director” in my opinion, Stanley Kubrick’s contribution to humanity is more equal to Michelangelo, or da Vinci, no director in history is even close to the genius behind Kubrick. I don’t think I’m Exaggerating when I say schools and streets should be named after him
What contributions has he made?
@@indianajones8958 2001 a space odyssey is regarded as the most important film ever made, the amount of effort that went into creating it is incredible, universities across the world are still studying it today. Have you watched it? Some can say “it’s just a film” but it’s not.
Basically there is Kubrick and then there is everyone else. even in today’s world nobody comes close
@@PimaArt I haven’t watched yet but I will :)
Idris Elba would make an awesome bond.
Daniel Craig is 50 Idris Elba is 45 I think they should get somebody younger maybe someone who's only in their mid-to-late twenties and able to make more than two or three movies before they decide they're too old for this action hero shit
JR talking about Kubrick is like a salamander talking about marathon running
The Stanley hotel in Estes Park was the inspiration for the Shining. Outdoor shots were shot mainly in Oregon, indoor shots were shot in a studio
I love how people try to read so much into The Shining, that it was purposefully done to disorient the audience, admit to faking the moon landing, etc. Same with Eyes Wide Shut and the Illuminati and all. Yet no one bats an eye or has suspicions over A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, Full Metal Jacket, etc.
A Clockwork Orange.
Paths of Glory always slept on.
Kubrick got Spartacus during production because Kirk Douglas fired the original director and replaced him with Kubrick because he had a good time on Paths of Glory and Douglas thought he could control Kubrick more.
"It's a big ass book, well, I think it's a big ass book..."
